The method of conecasting is obsolete but "fixing" it isn´t worth it to have everyone relearn Annie and Cho.

People have tried it, but it isn't really as accurate on the fly as you'd think, at least not without a lot of practice.

I mean, I assume you're talking about having like, a Wacom tablet and just tapping to indicate the screen position, right? How often can you tap the correct position if you try 10 times? 100 times? Not to mention that you'd have to set up a new way of scrolling to the side and right/double clicking, scrollwheel, and that a mouse has room for more buttons (thumbs, pinky, middle finger).

But if you can get over that (and it's not impossible), more power to you. I just know my college roommate who tried it (in WoW, though), couldn't get a hang of it after a week of trying. But, to each their own, maybe it'll become the new trackball.

I hate how it works for Annie and Cho. I know I am in range, but since I place my mouse pointer further away from my champ (increased accuracy compared to having the cursor close to your champ), Annie/Cho won't cast the damn spell until I bring the cursor closer...

Afaik Tablets are considered superior to mouse for stuff like Osu! (rythm/accurracy game). So it's not unreasonable to try it for other games.
If you have a good reason to disagree with the above, please tell me. Thank you.

you mean like touch screen? because touch screen technology is laggy and innacurate.

if you're talking about a stylus, i hate those things, they're more prone to drive me nuts than to actually be helpful.

edit: touchscreen tablets may be interesting tho. Especially if you consider how good they've gotten in the past year or so, a touchscreen for gaming isn't inconceivable in the near future.

Well, for rhythm games, you're just tapping in a general location, so being off by a bit is the difference between great and good. In, say, LoL, those few pixels mean you missed a CS, and in SC2, you just tried to focus an Archon instead of the Sentry.

It's a good idea, and would be great if the technology was more advanced and we were more used to using it instead of being indoctrined with a mouse.

i actually thought about a pen that is working with a normal optical/laser sensor and has the processing parts outsorced via bungee aparatus to a box. even it it would have to touch a mousepad at all times for the optical sensor to work without error, it would still handle way better than a mouse that is really quite clumpsy by design.

Well, I mean, sometimes the shit we have is just better even though you would think that something else would be optimal. I mean, just try to play a consul game without a controller or a fighting game without a pad.

Oh man, don't bring up the controller/keyboard discussion though, there may be blood.

Strong shoutcasting = higher exposure = easier to attract sponsors.

I'd bet that if strong shoutcasters would cast scrims the total numbers watching would increase. Thinking about their own personal stream income is pretty damn shortsighted.

pretty much everything high profile people in the lol community do is short sighted

CLG EU did a call for it recently (http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=550611), I contacted them but never got a reply :/

I asked to obs ONE scrim to be able to commentate in real conditions.

sending a reply and/or inviting you to obs a scrim would take 30 seconds out of their day. streaming some lol and masturbating takes up far too much time for them to be able to do that.

Well, at the moment, one can actually say that the lol business model is actually BETTER than the comparable starcraft one. At least in lol its the players who are the ones rewarded with money and fame (especially when it comes to streaming). Not to say that it doenst such that there arent any decent casters, but we dont see the same problem in starcraft where pros play the games and casters make a LOT more money by casting them and posting them to Youtube.

i dont see how you define that as better. when the lol scene grows up there wont be time for players to do casting, as a lot of people in the sc world have found out, if you want to take your game seriously you dont have time for that crap. now in the lol scene theres no developed model for a caster making money. do they attach themselves to a team? are they independent? do they pester teams to watch scrims or do they organise it themselves?

eventually lol is gonna need more dedicated casters, but how do they take the plunge into it?

We get a replay system and they cast shit and gain a following.

The hints I have gotten from Riot indicate that the system they are shooting for is going to automatically keep/upload replays to the client so that you can search for people and get their replays. Then they can just cast those and whoever is good will gain a following. Not all that hard.

Its a hell of a lot easier to find a good caster than it is to try to fix whatever the hell happened to the starcraft scene.

Are there any hints on when replays will come? They didn't say anthing about replays when S2 came along (real dissapointing IMO)

I don't know too much about electronics, but my impression is that a resistive touchscreen would require too much force on each input to be practical (try cs-ing with that haha) and a capactive touchscreen would have too much delay inbetween inputs. It'd probably also be difficult getting used to right and leftclicking, especially if you spam a lot of clicks for whatever reason. With some better tech and some time to get used to it though, I don't think it's too far-fetched, but it's not something I would personally use.

Except maybe Osu on Lunatic songs.

EDIT:

Playing a fighting game with a standard gamepad is like playing starcraft2 with a gun controller. How can one finger (right thumb) be responsible for 4 inputs?

Most of the standard user interfaces in our day and age are terrible, some people just got used to it, and different persons will like different hardware interfaces.

it's called claw grip
you use your fingers on the inputs instead of your thumb

I've played Rift, WoW, SC2(challenges) and LoL when bored during 3hr lecture with a wacom bamboo and it is capacitive. If you want to use it as a point and click style where you don't drag the cursor you run into precision issues if stuff is moving around due to how hard it is to judge the ratio of the screen resolution to the tablets usable area. If you take too long locating the pointer it's worse than using a mouse. If you hover it so you can see the mouse the entire time and drag it then you have issues where if you accidentally make contact you're left clicking for no reason or if it stays touching you right click in the wrong spot. I don't see it being worth it.

Alright, so I'm currently playing HORRIBLY and decided to go take a break from my usual patterns and rather go practice some new champs for each role. Currently, my mains are Kennen/Panth/WW top, Skarner/Mao/The Moose in the jungle, Kennen/Brand mid and Soraka/Sona support. I rarely ever play AD.

I have looked over some past games and have come to realize I sacrifice too much farm for harassing my opponent and was thinking about champs who either excell well at farming while harassing or have such a beast late game you don't even have to worry about harassing your opponents. Boredom plays a pretty big role here I feel and I really want to change things up. Basically meaning learning a couple of champs from the get-go and try to get every single last hit each game.

So I thought, hell, go learn Singed/GP, Ahri/Fizz/Ryze, Nocturne/Lee, Corki/Sivir.

Any other suggestions?
currently rooting for myself.

Singed is probably king of the ignore and farm. Ori can also excel at that style. In jungle shyvans is boss at getting farm and outscaling the enemy dps super hard

Ryze is beast. Trynd is pretty good too. Trist is my favorite AD and works pretty well with farming, you try to kill them early on and then go boss mode and farm your face off. And Trist auto harasses by last hitting minions.
