Most his damage is AP. Not AD. And even if he does hybrid damage he is not an AD carry.

For the majority of the game, Jax deals mostly magic damage. I don't know how the ratio is when you have your full build finished, but it probably is around 50:50. Cait or Ezreal mid, Jax top, Cait or Ezreal bot, Amumu or Rammus jungle, Sona, Janna or Alistar support is a very viable setup at the very least all the way up to 1700 elo. Depending on the enemy champions it can even be an amazing setup.

Edit: For the majority of the game, Jax deals mostly magic damage. I don't know how the ratio is when you have your full build finished, but it probably is around 50:50. Maybe 50/50, but you look at it this way: his burst is all AP (Jump, Empower, stun), his sustain is all AD. If the enemy is squishy and dies fast, it's mostly going to be AP. Opposite for tankier targets, so just judge based on the enemies.

Pros don't generally play heroes that they don't have hundreds of games of experience with. How can you forget Dyrus when we're talking about Jax? The singular of Colossi is Colossus, not Collossx. Hence why it pluralizes that way. It would make more sense to pluralize "Jaximus" to "Jaximi".

Even in a sustained fight Jax hits for a large portion of magic damage because of Empower's short cooldown (Leap Strike too if you want to get fancy, but I think the animation actually causes you to do less dps then just auto attacking) and Counter-Strike still do significant damage and every third hit is accompanied by his ult's damage which is more then a single AA's worth of damage.

But in reality, Dyrus doesn't play that much Jax in tournaments. HSGG definitely has the most Jax LAN games play.

"As much Jax in pro play"//"As many Jax players in pro play" Jax, like sheep, is singular and plural.

I'd also like to know about some special lane matchups you should pay attention to - like who gives you a hard time etc. I'm looking to invest in a new top lane melee, and monkey looks interesting, but I have a hard time choosing. Can't afford all these 6300ip champs ffs. I'm also too impatient to wait for free weeks. I have no idea how good his early game is because everyone I've laned him against has been terrible, if he CAN lane with good play that's good enough though. His mid and late game are very powerful, most bruisers have ad spell scaling rather than autoattack scaling and autoattacks curve harder. Has a dash, and his W is like a spellshield. Most importantly he has the best ult in the game, it's as powerful as mumu/galio/etc ults but on a much shorter cooldown. Honestly if his other skills are not up to par (and they seem quite good to me) and they buff them until they are, it's gonna expose how unfair his ult is and how severely the cd needs a nerf.
