Imo, Urgot does good against Caitlyn if you can manage to not get zoned for the first three levels. By level like 3-4 you can destroy Caitlyn.
Oh but the problem is not getting zoned like I said. Good Caitlyns will play really aggressive for the first several levels.

Nope, immune to CC while "charging". He can be stunned while Paranoia is still going, just before or after he uses the second part.

He can't be CCed, but if he is low enough you can just kill him before he hits the target.

Unfortunately the already ridiculous amount of work is further compounded by runepages and pregame setup. Armor runes completely turn some matchups around, etc.

Irelia should beat akali IMO. More burst, more sustained damage.

It's a silly concept anyway. If you know your lane opponent is going to beat you in a 1v1 in lane, you can always just play super defensive under your turret and farm that way, or get ganks from a jungler, or go some stupid specialized build.
It's like SC2 "counters". Hellions beat Zerglings, until the lings get speed, but then blue flame beats them again, unless they're on creep, but the Hellions can position themselves to stop a surround, etc. Talon craps on most ranged carries, but they can always just safe farm and never move past (or even near) river to give him a chance. He'll probably end up dropping a tower first, but the carry will probably have more farm and neither will have kills if they play smart.
Team fights are another monster altogether.

Last time I laned against Akali I had flat MR blues and went double MR mantle into merc threads + wit's end. My damage is solid with that setup and much faster than gp5+Triforce openers (and although I crushed the lane I don't think the Akali was that good), but I'm not really sure how to continue from there. If I do this build it's because I didn't need Wriggle in lane (although will obviously need armor soon), and going Wit's End -> Triforce is just way too squishy.
In that game I went Randuin's, and in another game (laning top against Orianna) I went Aegis, but the games were more or less decided before I finished those items.
Obviously the choice here will change game to game, but what are good options? I've never tried Frozen Heart on Irelia, but I imagine it's solid.

Could anyone summarize Wukong for me? What's his power curve in the game (early to mid to late)? I'd also like to know about some special lane matchups you should pay attention to - like who gives you a hard time etc.
I'm looking to invest in a new top lane melee, and monkey looks interesting, but I have a hard time choosing. Can't afford all these 6300ip champs ffs. I'm also too impatient to wait for free weeks.

I would say he has a lot of damage early on since he can combo e -> auto -> q -> auto -> escape with w pretty easily. Late game his damage dips a little but he is tanky enough that it doesn't really matter. What gives me a hard time is characters with skill shots or AoE skills that hit me when i'm cloaked. I haven't played much wukong so this is just my opinion so far.

Mid Game : Step in to the van I have candy. Oops I 100>0'd you.
End Game : Protect the carry by spinning like a top on 5 of them.
Top lane is much about just grabbing what farm you can to get a wriggles asap. At that point you can venture out and be pretty balsy. Till then you lose your lane to just about anyone who knows how squishy you are 1v1. Of all the people who go top right now, Renekton usually gives me the most trouble simply because no where is safe. The double dash through minions into W you, generally means you die. The easiest way to imagine how you should play is that instead of Slam Dunking on kids like you are Master Yi, you spin on them the same way you would Alpha Strike. The two have very simular playstyles for me.
