Having like Smite Flash makes you die to someone with Exh Flash :[ Then you don't even really get to dragon/liz control cuz you're just dead. The exception is the heroes that actually jungle full-time, but yeah, otherwise you don't see it as much anymo, AFAIK.

Also no one bothered mentioning it, but the team you played against was pretty dumb hero choices on TT too. Global teleport! On a tiny map. Anti-ranged DPS! on a map dominated by bruisers. Anivia! On a map with no blue buff. Rly.

having somebody with wriggles and smite puts so much pressure on the top half of the map, it's just absurd.

Against a team that expects it though you end up with a ridiculously free-farmed bruiser bot lane and a fucked up hero, so it more-or-less evens out. Many heroes otherwise get Wriggles anyways, and Dragon is really weak, so you tend not to even need Smite to take down dragon in 3 seconds.

I can't see a smite less team win a game, ever. It's like a jungler not taking smite on 5's because he "can" but 100 times worse.

Running the strat I learned from CrazyNines, so yeah. Solo top, bot lane X + Janna. Janna fucks up 2v1 lanes really badly and even when the lane is pushed all the way with wards + her you're like ungankable, so it's a trade of a farmed jungler and a fucked up solo bot vs farmed bruiser + Janna, pending the solo lane's progress obviously.

I didn't "call anyone out" with the exception of saying that heal teams aren't anything new and the team he played against was garbage hero selection? And Smite may or may not be necessary at the top levels of play (C9 ran this setup at 1700s 3v3) but in ~20 games I've never seen the need for Smite, dating back to like last year. Soooo...

Usually top lane gets Wriggles, bot lane gets Wriggles depending on hero as well (Ez/Vayne/Jax/etc.). Most of the time I see both top lane get Wriggles and clear jungle really fast while lane is pushing etc. Map's generally devoid of creep.

I probably would be in the same boat if I hadn't played with C9 last year and learned his setup, hahah. Just saying, I see a lot of no-Smite teams that deal with it with Wriggles top or whatnot. A lot of heroes these days clear jungle at middle levels too quickly and easily :x

The real danger of the setup is the top lane being vulnerable to ganks, but in that case you'd just swap mid and bot and have the solo at bot. Janna dicking around with wardspam and DRings makes junglers' life hell though for ganking, unless LS/Noc (which is why I've been banning LS of late, and Noc unless banning Rumble) :x Janna lanes are pretty retarded to try to gank.

And if the other team has no dedicated jungler, support +1 is still stronger than 2 no-support.

i played lots of 3s with my friends for the last couple months. no matter how hard they fed the lanes I think we're like 90% winrate vs teams that didn't run a jungler

PS: "I see a lot of X" + "only like 20 games", does not compute

Matter of sample size. I'm fine with ~10 games (other 10 were a year ago when I dun remember if Wriggles was even out yet) giving me a decent barometer of "what works and what doesn't work."

Mweh, I mean I'm not saying it's the end-all-be-all or whatnot but I honestly have never seen Smite change the course of TT except in the hands of a dedicated jungler. And we ran that with you and EzPz way back when (WW jungle). And I was like "man junglers are OP on TT!" And then I played with C9's bizarre setup and we stomped people. They could be bad opponents. Fine. But it was still a "fairly high" rating level (1700 + 1700 + me at 1500) IMO especially considering how long ago it was before rating inflation (though not sure if inflation's really bothered TT), so I'm also "fairly" confident in saying that it's perfectly viable at not-top-level TT.

Obviously stuff's changed since then, items, heroes etc. But even back then I found Smite to be overrated in that sort of setup.

Thennnnn why tell Red smite has dropped out of style as of late when you play low level 3s. That's like that guy that posted a Kass thread with a build that worked at his Elo and people ridiculed him. Thread ended up being deleted and you made a new (great) Kass guide that applied to high Elo since that's what people should stride to play like.
