Well, when I played against him, it seemed that in the midgame phase he HURT. No one really had any defense, and because he was almost pure tank with a visage, we couldnt kill him either. Once everyone got some tankyness though it returned to "ok, ignore ww, kill their team while he tickles us." and then we just killed him after when we could devote enough focus to bring down his tank.

You get Catalyst because it's the best laning item in the game--it's already extremely strong on casters and tanks what want the mana (especially if they want RoA/BVeil), and Ryze gets additional value out of the mana. It doesn't matter what other people say, I'd still think Catalyst is a no-brainer on Ryze even if no one else was getting it.
Obviously an iffy analogy, but Catalyst is kind of like a gp5 item that gives you 1.5 hp pots and 2.5 mana pots every time you level up--effectively a 150g value per levelup.

wait, you're playing jarman and you need a shen shield to 1v5 them? wtf is your problem man, you should be able to 1v5 and get out with 75% hp.

Hum? No way. Fed Nidalee, Fed Urgot, Fed Annie. I somehow got insta-bursted despite having like 140 mres and 180 armor at 28min. I ulti Nidalee, Urgot, Annie, combo 80% of Nidalees hp off -> team doesn't follow-up properly and Shen doesn't ulti me. Just an awful team. Lost 7 ranked in a row now oOO

i'm not playing midwick or bobwick or magewick i'm playing warwick
second of all, warwick is intrinsically one of the hardest carries in the game IMO. lifesteal up the ass, regeneration on a HUGE low-c/d nuke, a good low cooldown ultimate disable, and one of the most potent steroids in the game in bloodscent. you know when you have that jungling warwick that gets like 3 kills early and then spirals out of control and lategame he can solo your team because he does infinite damage and is unkillable and unchaseable? solo mid warwick is just that, but he gets wayyyy more farm wayyy earlier and more guaranteed kills just by virtue of being mid

that's roughly what I do as well when tryharding solo WW. I don't like atma's though, I typically just get GA or Wit's End instead and it get it after banshee's.

i've been getting atmas cause every team has like 3 ad carries
against a more balanced team i'd probably get GA too

i like elevatorwick myself, its built around getting max cd on ult and utility tree so I can flash ult a ton of times. items are optional

Yeah, typing "midwick" is dumb, obviously "the warwick strat where you go mid and build all tanky" = way shorter
