I've actually done this before and I troll with a full flat armor + flat magic resist page on Soraka/Janna sometimes too.
I didn't really play it enough to comment on viability or anything, but unless a bunch of people focused you at once (gank with red or something), you pretty much didn't die in lane at all. But I guess that's how Taric is like anyways. Made for some amusing tower dives though.
I currently run flat armor seals/quints on Singed and start with a cloth armor + 5hp pots which starts me with like 72 armor and I like, never die, so I'm assuming it'd be pretty strong on Taric as well.

guitar and I did a bunch of practice games with me vs a bunch of phys carries (Ashe, Trist, Renekton, Urgot, Xin) and the best he did was barely losing to me on Teleport Xin after I ate a bunch of tower hits.
If anyone wants to try it out with their phys carry of choice, let me know and i'll test with you as well.

Current specs are -
Armor Quint / Red / Yellow AP / Level blue (anything works here, Armor is pretty weak and you can get MR, AP, MP5 or CDR) 0 / 15 / 15 masteries, emphasis on - damage taken per hit Ghost / Clarity (flash or any other summoner should work for the first slot, Clarity is essential though) Cloth + 5pot opening, stick to your prey until it dies or retreats.

Personally I think the biggest issue with solo lane Taric has nothing to do with how he plays the lane (I have no doubt that it's strong), and more to do with how much he gets out of that early-game farm. IMO as far as putting support champs in solo lanes, Zilean and Morgana get way more out of that solo lane's farm than Taric does. I can see him being decent there if your comp has the room for him to hog a solo lane, but I can't see that being the case THAT often.
That said, it also looks like it could be fun as hell.

in the ranked game we tried he forced ashe out of lane with 7cs so she had to come to a sidelane where we were as high leveled as she was, and their bottom lane nunu had to take mid for her, where he was 3 levels below taric
pretty successful imo. after that you could even switch it up and put your own carry mid against their duo laner that covers for their mid. boom, their carry is a nonfactor, yours has a solo against a duo lane champ

I do this with shen. flat armor reds, flat armor yellows, flat armor quints and play mr blues.

Holy fuck. I just played 2 games. 1 with the most retarded trynd i ever met who couldn't ult and a solo lane shen who outright lost to a teemo even though I ganked teemo to keep him low hp. And another game where vlad fed gragas so hard that he had a deathcap by 15 mins and 720 AP by endgame. He'd 3 shot me when I tried to trade lanes b/c he was so fed........ -_-

Champs with good ratios/non-damage utility spells prefer AP/lvl (I don't think I've ever seen anyone use flat AP glyphs), champs with poorer ratios prefer MPen.

Depends on who you're playing. The same question was also addressed in a recent thread [help] Runes.
