im always amused by how every melee discussion that starts has a couple people who actually know about the competitive scene and then one person comes in and is like "OMG kirby(or insert other terrible low tier char) in melee so OP. i beat everyone i knew over and over so clearly this is true."
on another note, i really dig pikachu for FFAs in brawl. i think he has a nice skill set for KSing and getting people off your ass or running away. random downBs to KS = trololol.
i also scared away most people in my dorm from 1v1ing me in melee and im not even close to competitive caliber. but FFAs are always fun. i just keep rotating chars so im not always 4stocking them and I troll alot.

i liked playing low tiers, mr game and watch and mewtwo were prob my favs.
mewtwo's moveset is so fun, but hes awful.

okay i was doing some theorycrafting in LP based on what southlight said in the old thread
guitarasaurus: taric 16.5 base armor + 18 cloth armor + 10 shatter + 8.19 reds + 6.3 blues +12.69 yellows + 12.78 quints guitarasaurus: 84.46 starting armor guitarasaurus: you know what guitarasaurus: with new starting items guitarasaurus: full armorpage taric + cloth + 5 pots guitarasaurus: seems like a legit countercarry lane
84.46 armor is what, 45.78% damage reduction? if the carry is running ArPen reds for 13 arpen, you'd still have 42.34% damage reduction. level 1 ashe would hit for 28.656 damage, 57.3 on her first crit. your base heal on imbue is 84 to self. not to mention you've got 1000 HP in the form of pots. what's going to keep you from completely zoning ashe besides jungle presence? farm up some AP and be a healing machine for your team midgame, roll them at 20 minutes while their carry has 3 doran's blades and boots 1.
ofc you could do this with many champs i suppose. nasus with 70 something armor could farm all day freely and mb have more of an impact, not sure.

With ZERO mana regen you're not going to be able to spam your heal for too long before you need to B or your potions run out, since ashe/insert other carry, outranges you.
And it's not like you're going to be stunning them or using ANY of your other abilities, since you need it for heal.
Horrible run setup IMO, almost as bad as going full out AP runes

taric base mana 255, base regen 0.8/s = 4/5s auto attack restores mana equal to 7.5% damage dealt, so to a melee creep (what do they have, 13 armor? idr) you'd do 51.3 damage and get back 3.84 mana EDIT: also forgot meditation mastery etc, you could even take clarity *LOL*
heal cost 80 mana, shatter cost 50 mana, stun cost 95 mana
it takes ashe 4 attacks to do the damage that 1 heal would negate, she'll be taking creep aggro and not last hitting if she does this
don't want to ass with all the math cause AS and CDs aren't listed on the LoL website and i'm not 100% sure on stuff like creep armor and whatnot
if ashe is doing enough damage to burn through 1000 HP worth of potions at only 25 damage per hit, not to mention your base HP regen (1.42/s), and your base HP (468) she's attacking you more than 60 times. good chance you'd be able to get a stun shatter combo off a couple times in there
i dunno this is all theorycrafting i just remember southlight bringing it up and since you can't take a pot with doran's any more i thought it might be more applicable

Interestingly enough, I face a Taric yesterday who did exactly this. We were able to burst through him if there were 2-3 of us wailing on only him for the first little while, but then his team had caught up in items and such and they absolutely WRECKED us. He stacked Archangel's Staves after the laning phase ended....it was just ridiculous.

but ofc taric is 3150 IP and the total cost of all those runes would be (205x9) + (205x9) + (205x9) + (1025x3) = 11750 IP and i don't have that much so i can't really reasonably test this but if someone has 12k IP to burn and they want to try something that looks solid on paper feel free to be my guest for an actual proof of this

Re: Taric stuff it rapes certain carries, hard. I had a Taric solo vs. my pantheon once and i felt completely helpless.

Kirby also contender for top tier, Fox is okay but not amazing. you forgot that he's also the only character in the entire game who can escape combos or recover vs. proper edgeguarding because his up B is so strong.

Don't forget the -2 physical damage, -2 damage from minions, 3 SoS, 48 HP Vet Scars, -4% damage, and maybe 1% dodge or so? Actually you might as well go 3/24/3 for some extra AP, nimbleness and - in this very special case - perseverance.

Is it just because of his smashes? They're amazing finishers on most chars when they get above like 80% and he's got a couple of good combos/initiations, but I'd still put Yoshi over him... or at like... I don't feel he belongs in Falcon tier lol.

Oh dear lord. I knew I'd bait you but I had no idea I'd derail general discussion into a melee discussion. I got some Project M going down @ work later today... desperately trying to relive the awesomeness that was Melee.
Hypothetically speaking, if melee was remade on PC, had more characters, and had excellent netcode, how many of you would play it?
Anyway, on the topic of LoL: I get some really freaky things happening when I play characters that have some sort of displacement ability. For example: Renekton and Nidalee. If I Slice/Pounce respectively, whilst mashing Q or E respectively, i'll get weird stuff happening. The animation of Q/E seems to play as I move through things. Does anyone else have this? It doesn't seem to happen on other people's computers. The machine it happens on uses a Das Keyboard, so maybe there's some weirdness happening with quick input?
