Seems like 95% of ppl go for them and then all the other possible openings tend to be ignored. They're so efficient that by the item the slot is needed for something else it has already easily paid off. Personally I think having starter items is totally acceptable--DotA has them in the form of gg branches and magic stick/wand. The thing about Doran's items is that it takes you significantly longer until you need the slot for something else. doran's items are more like wraith bands or something than gg branches, they're legit goal points for buffing your character

to teach how to be better at a FREE video game you are doing it wrong imo like if i was at a friend's house and he was like "hey man let's drink some beer and teach me how to not suck at LoL" i'd be all for it but i wouldn't be like "NAHH MAN I WANT 50 BUCKS AN HOUR" cause that's just dumb

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this, would anyone consider taking up these offers and if so, for what reason? (Not saying they are a bad idea or anything, but just curious on people's opinions). Can you really justify paying money to get better at a video game, just for the sake of getting better at it? There aren't really any consistent cash tournaments in League Of Legends. There are also no replay/observer systems, and games last pretty long. That means your only getting a game + some pointers per hour of teaching, and without replay/observer, your gonna have to stream some games so your coach can observe you. Your doing all of this just to get better, you have no real way to make money back from it(at least for now, since their aren't tons of cash tournaments or anything) I'm sure there are a few that could use this and benefit from it, but overall i think that there simply isnt' a reason to do it, I'm sure you could do much more good by finding some guys that don't bicker and argue, form a team, and work at getting better together, for free. That's probably the best way too improve imo. I can justify lessons somewhat in Starcraft II, I still think way too many people get them, although for some with the money I guess it's just easier than trying to find the same information for free on the internet, I guess that's the same case here. Edit: Zerg_Russian - So.. is that a Riot run tournament? Or just a local lan center thing, either way pretty awesome ![]()

I just need someone to show me how to carry. i have a hard time carrying as well. but ive found alot of success in playing supports. sometimes its hard to carry if you dont get a good start and your teammates dont know how to protect you. as a support you can save your stupid teammates and try to help your best player do better. try morg. she plays support well and she can also be fed in lane to become a monster ap carry. or just duo que with a ranged carry and be janna. ez mode.

I'm seriously frustrated at this point, no matter what I do I always lose. I just need someone to show me how to carry. Step 1: Eliminate your own mistakes. If you're screwing up all of the time by doing stupid things and putting yourself in stupid situations that get you killed or result in you missing opportunities to win, you're not going to carry. Step 2: Pick a champ that is capable of carrying. I'll just be blunt: all things being equal, some champs can't carry consistently. However, there is a lot of variety that you can choose from: ranged DPS, melee DPS, tanks, and casters. The most important criterion is that the champ is either a jungler or a capable of handling a solo lane. If you're always in the duo-lane on bottom, it's less likely that you're going to be carrying games. Step 3: Practice, practice, practice. If you're jungling, know your jungling route cold. Know when and where to gank. If you're solo-laning, you'll need to practice even more. Start by learning how to last hit like a pro while avoiding enemy harass and jungle ganks. As you get better, start finding ways to harass the enemy player while maintaing a CS lead over him. Learn which champs that you can abuse and which champs that you need to play safe against. The only way that you're going to carry is if you get a level and/or item advantage over the enemy team's players. Farming during the first 15 minutes is critical in this regard. Step 4: Learn map awareness. This is really hard. The first and most important lesson to learn is know when you're in a dangerous position and likely to get ganked. In other words, don't push a lane too far. The second lesson, which is almost as important, is do not miss teamfights. Pay attention to the minimap. If it looks like a teamfight is about to happen at a tower, at the dragon, or at baron, make sure that you're ass is over there in time to help. If you had a solo lane, you're probably one of the strongest (if not the strongest) champs on your team. What's the point of you having the solo lane to get this advantage if you're not going to use it? Third, learn how to establish map control and set up ganks. Place wards in key spots and in the enemy jungle so that you know where they are. Try to catch enemy champs out of position and kill them. Abuse the advantage that you hopefully created during the laning phase so that you can snowball into something even stronger. Know when to push a lane, when to take dragon, and when to baron. There's a lot to take in here, but this should at least give you some idea of what you need to be doing to get better. I got lucky and got carried (except when I played Rammus) up to the 1500s. When Rammus became a regular ban, I was stuck playing lesser (non-OP) champs without really knowing some of the fundamentals of the game. I dropped 200 points. I spent some time refining my game, and now I've carried myself back up to the 1500s (mostly playing Irelia this time).
