not to get in the way of the who-stole-what argument but are people having fun playing? i've played about 10 games, it's been pretty enjoyable.

I hope they expand the player base faster than Hearthstone, I'm enjoying watching but not really much more than any other game, and if Hearthstone beta is any indication I'll only be watching the next few months.

I have watched couple of streamers(Hafu, reynad) for few hours and after the initial excitement went away, this game is kinda meh. The more I learn about the game, the less interesting it seems.
It really lacks depth. It is basically capture objective, defeat mercenary minions,go mines and get skulls,5 man push to get fort and end game. Basically the same thing every game.

so my first experience with the game is idra streaming. is the game good, bad, positive, negative, neutral?

500 gold per level and it can cost up to 10000 gold for some heroes? Oh my.

It is like comparing sc2 to bw. sc2 is said to be an easier game but it is harder to win consistently.
These games are fast, which is the main thing for me. You can glorify other games for their layered learning curve, but games are games. People are just to use to something and forget to look at things a different way. This game is to the point and I got my hopes for it (mostly because of its map-making capabilities though..)

Basic game mechanics aren't interesting. Defeat mercenaries, capture the flag for Dragon Knight, etc. They are old and boring. Also combat isn't really exciting. Spells deal little to no damage...
But what i really want to emphasize is heroes.. Lets take a look.
+ Show Spoiler + Q Penetrating Round Skillshot Cooldown: 12 seconds Fires a high powered round that deals 85 damage and knocks away all enemies.
W Inspire Cooldown: 12 seconds
Raynor buffs himself for 20% bonus move and attack speed for 8 seconds. Nearby allies gain half of this bonus while near Raynor.
R Hyperion Heroic Ability Cooldown: 120 seconds
The Hyperion slowly travels forward, dealing 100 damage per second to a random enemy target in its path.
R Raynor's Raiders Heroic Ability Cooldown: 100 seconds
Summons two cloaked Banshees that follow Raynor for a short time and attack what he attacks. The Banshees attack for 12 damage.
E Adrenaline Rush Passive
Automatically activates to heal Raynor for 160 when he is below 30% health. Can only occur once every 45 seconds.
These are Raynor's skills. None of these skills are exciting. Q: Damage, W: Speed bonus, R: AOE damage (well actually i kinda liked hyperion) R: Damage E: Stolen from Abaddon's ult :D
+ Show Spoiler + Q Holy Light Cooldown: 12 seconds Heals an allied target for 150 health.
Q Holy Light Cooldown: 10 seconds Heals an allied taget for 150 health, or deals 75 damage to an enemy.
W Holy Radiance Cooldown: 12 seconds Deals 50 damage to enemies in a line, and heals any ally it touches for 80 health.
E Hammer of Justice Cooldown: 8 seconds Deals 50 damage and stuns the target for 1 second.
R Divine Shield Heroic Ability Cooldown: 120 seconds Makes the target ally invulnerable and increases their movement speed by 20% for 3 seconds.
R Divine Storm Heroic Ability Cooldown: 45 seconds Deals 100 damage and stuns nearby enemies for 1.5 seconds. Uther heals himself for 15 health for each enemy hit by Divine Storm.
These are uther's spells. Q: Heal/Damage W: Heal. But can be fun E: Stun R: Invulnerability R: AoE damage, stun. But it can heal too. It can be funny.
If you spend some time to look other heroes same thing applies to most of heroes too. Damage, stun, heal. Abathur is kinda unique. When we look dota, all heroes except Sniper and Leoric have very unique skills, very unique comboes. I'm not saying every hero should have 9 spells like invoker or need fast fingers for comboes(Earth spirit.. I'm looking at you.)But HotS skills are boring, dumbed down.
One more thing. Blizz never learn how to make good AI. For gods sake we waited 3 years to get good chat channels, clans etc. in SC. Now socialization aspect of Hearthstone is gone. Hearth of the storm sucks too... Chat channels are smaller then my watch. Pff They should rework it ASAP!

BW was a better game than SC2.

The thing is, bw had some mechanical limitations that made it difficult for people to be good at the game, but they were limitations that were uninteresting and can be compared to playing with one hand instead of two. I don't believe in those kind of limitations.
Strategy is comparable in sc2 and bw...
And with this game, there's definitely more strategies due to more objectives, it's pretty straight forward in that regard. As for the meta being stale, people just started playing this game so that's a very early claim. meta game can take a long time to figure out, or not.

Well fixing the mechanical limitations led to things like Psi Storm from drenching fangirls' panties into the boring ticklefest they are now.

You are right BW strategy totally dead ended in unbeatable comps like how before in ZvP Infestor/Brood Lord was unbeatable and now how Swarm Hosts are the only way Zerg can deal with late game Protoss which now is forced to go Tempests to beat mass Swarm Host.
ALL THIS STRATEGY AND VARIETY SC2 GAVE US
