There should be no confusion, considering nobody refers to sc2 as 'hots'. They said 'sc2' or 'starcraft'. Also from various threads and comments, people seem to like calling it "Heroes" anyways.
I say hots all the time, people still play and refer to wol all the time as well. And then of course there will be LotV in the future. People, myself included, also make differnce between SC and BW, D2 and LOD, Wc3 and TFT, and all the wow expansions I won't name. Besides, there are so many games outside of blizzard with the name 'Heroes' or already shortened to 'Heroes'. It is confusing where it needn't be. I played HoN quite a bit in beta, many people refered to it as 'Heroes'. I'm pretty sure there is some army/fps type game referred to as 'Heroes' as well.

Consider the average life of Blizzard games compared to others that is very weird statement.
Their first games, agreed. Though the recent ones... HoTs didn't really revive sc2 community, D3 lost 50% player base in the first month...
BW and WC3 did not have very big player bases either. RTS games in general have never been super popular compared to FPS/DOTA games/player bases. SC2 is no exception and I don't understand why people seem to think it has to be.

you are just a hater. Losing 50% of the player base in the first month isn't that big of a deal considering all the casuals that buy the game, play through it maybe one time and then move on to the next one. and it isn't like this argument wasn't had before on the bnet forums. or would you please provide samples through multiple games to show that this is an extraordinary large player loss.

Having 1,5 million players online at pretty much all time during the first year was great achievement though. It just went downhill from there.

Hater? I've played every single blizzard game and enjoyed them. I'm just stating what actually happened, i've had to leave wc3 cause it was hacker infested, and same with sc2 recently. That is one of the problem with Blizzard games, they have no control on hackers after a while.
As for d3, it just was a letdown for me, no competitive aspect at all - no ladder, max level could be reached in only a few days... I mean, I surely did enjoy the game for a week, but that's it.
I'm sure this will be fun. Even though laning and leveling is different it doesn't look like they're deviating much from core DOTA gameplay, and that's fine.
I am a little disappointed that it's so... tepid. Not just in visual style (though definitely that), but in how the heroes are animated. Sort of sluggishly, and without any personality. With such a crazy premise I'd hoped the visuals and animation would have more punch.

That's the same as every other game though, at release and a bit after that the number of active users is very high and, after a period of time it starts to gradually shrink until the real lovers of the game remain.
Yeah it is kind of impressive SC2 had 1.5 mil for the first year, but that number starting to drop was just inevitable.
And yes RTS games were never really that popular, maybe only back in the 1990 to 2000 period, but that is kind of it. Free to play games kind of work in reverse, they don't have a huge marketing push, so not many people pick it up first, and the games gradually grow in time due to word of mouth and other aspects.
The best thing Blizzard could do is identify what aspects of F2P games keep drawing in people over time, or at the very least makes them stick, and then apply that to SC2. I do strongly suspect the ladder isn't it.
Anyway, I've gone way off topic with that. To solve any name related issue I just prefer to call the game Heroes, I guess HotS won't be so bad once Legacy of the Void is out, but Heroes is just fine.
Also, I can hardly wait to get my hands on Arthas and reenact the time old classic of Arthas vs Illidan!

Totally agree about the animations. But I guess that has to do with the limitations of the SC2 engine. I would wished for a lot more fluid combat animations.

This game actually looks pretty good, can't understand the hate. Hearthstone looks good, HotSt looks good, RoS looks to fix D3... Blizzard doing good for the first time in years, no complaints here.
I'm assuming all the icons and stuff will still be edited and polished because right now they're just ripping them from WoW and SC (Probably placeholders.) That said, I'm really looking forward to this game, looks like a lot of fun once in a while! :D
The big selling point for me in this game, is that you dont need to know optimal item builds. Its much simpler and easier to just get straight into. Too bad I wont get to try beta, since I've never had a beta invite from blizzard >.>
A lot of people made the comparison between it and LoL/DotA2 but the general feedbacks seem quite positive. My concern is mainly about how the game doesnt look that interesting from a spectator point of view and its more fun playing than watching. In combination with the casual friendly design philosophy, I highly doubt that it could make it into a successful esports title. But if Blizzard run it right it could be a wonderful game that attract a lot of players.
