I have to say this game may be much more addictive than I first thought. I only played like 4 practice games the other night, and have since been away from home. The last few days all I can think about is getting home and playing a few real games. I still love me some doto, but god damn has Heroes taken a hold.

BTW what are takedowns? It's just kills that you participated in or just your kills? I've played 5 games so far, won 4 of them and I have average stats of 23-2.

Kills that happened near you I think. I'm pretty sure I've gotten "kills" for things I was running to join after respawn but hadn't actually shot at yet.

Yeah the actual metric of Takedowns is mostly worthless but it is decent to show if someone is or is not participating in team fights. Like if you are 20-4 and someone else is like 9-3 it is a good indication that person isn't active in team fights.

I believe if you fight and die and then your team avenges you shortly thereafter you get credit for a takedown even.

BTW when you play Quick Match the map chosen is random right? Mines are my favourite so far, played also the map where you have cannonballs and it sucked. Shrines are fine as well.

Yeah its random, that "canon ball" map is Blackhearts bay, we did a guide about it recently, I suggest you check it out if you haven't already.

I really don't know if the map choice is really random as it happened to me too many times getting the same map 3 to 4 times in a row.

Just two days ago I've played Blackheart's Bay 4 times in a row, followed by 3 Cursed Hollows. Some time before that we had 3 Haunted Mines in a row followed by 3 Gardens of Terror in a row. I would like it to be more random, or some rule like "you can't get the same map 2 or 3 times in a row", or just veto maps you don't want to play.

Getting Blackheart's Bay 4 times in a row(while 2 days before that I also got it 4 times in a row...) is really demoralizing when you start to hate the map with how much you are playing it...

I don't think Blizzard would announce something. I know one of the blue posts that was linked to previously said it might get delayed until Wednesday or Thursday instead of the traditional Tuesday patches, but missing next week entirely doesn't seem likely at all.

I'm starting to fall back in love with Tychus. I'm doing some alternative builds and I'm really digging him now. After his nerf I was pretty sure he was down to poop tier but I don't think thats the case anymore. I've done a few auto-attack focused builds and once he gets Nexus Frenzy at 20 if he can just plant his heels and fire he does absolutely insane amounts of DPS.

Valla, Tychus, and Falstad all seem to be in good places right now. Only Raynor needs some tuning.

It is probably too late into this game's maturity cycle but I really wish Blizzard would experiment with longer starting death timers. Like start at 20 seconds and add 2 seconds per level or something. Early game objectives are so wonky. Like in Mines you can narrowly win a team fight (lets say a 4 for 2 trade) but you can still easily get zerged down because you're low on HP and Mana and suddenly that earlier teamfight win means nothing because you will die to the opponents while killing the golem. Like maybe make it so first blood awards 1.5x the normal XP but also deducts 20 seconds from the death timer or something.

Well, an alternative option for the Haunted Mines is if you win a fight at the Golem, your team teleports back to base to heal up. You will get back just before the other team and you can theoretically win any teamfights from full health anyway if they try to engage you, since your team just outfought them. However, you have to do this fast.

At least that's what Grubby has urged his team to do in the past.

My issue with the "B away" idea is that you won a team fight and you should be rewarded. *Possibly* your reward is it is now level 5 vs level 4. But even winning a team fight it is still generally a level 4 vs level 4 scenario. So the reward for winning that teamfight is teleporting back to fountain and winning it again. It just doesn't jive with me.

It may be once voice comms are integrated into the game (if they ever are) and match making is a bit tighter it won't matter at higher level games. But at the moment early tribute spawns and first mines is a pretty big zerg fest. I just don't find it enjoyable. Possibly that is just me and others love it.

Wow Azmodan is amazing. He's really sturdy, has sick pushing skills, a huge range huge aoe good damage nuke, and can 1v1 anyone with his beam.

You WILL be rewarded. You are now full health and full mana. You'll be able to take the Golem easily and if they try to force a fight, you'll win again.

Either that, or you can be impatient and try to kill the Golem with only half-health or less and very low on mana. Then if the other team decides to jump you in the Mine, you'll lose the fight AND the Golem.

Winning a team fight before the Golem does not entitle you to the Golem. It earns you a small time window in which you are free to choose what happens next.

In the second scenario, your team is gambling that they can convert their small time window into a Golem. If the gamble works, that's a huge tempo play. If the gamble fails, then you've thrown away that opportunity. Instead, consider that you should use your timing window to heal your HP and restore your mana. You'll end up with the Golem and you didn't have to gamble for it.


It could just be a mentality issue. I encounter it often in this game, where players on my team believe that winning a team fight outside the gates to a Keep entitles them to the Core.

Instead of playing it safe and guaranteeing a 100% victory in 4 or 5 minutes by compounding our lead, they stay and we end up taking a fight under the Core. If we win, then hooray! However, we usually get pushed back or even lose a few teammates who cannot disengage in time. Now we're only slightly ahead or just even. So we traded away a guaranteed victory for the chance at ending it early. I facepalm every single time that happens.
