Also, quickmatch is funny now. Every game seems to have a Raynor that leads the game in deaths and does really stupid stuff. I played 4 games with a friend tonight and there were a total of 3 support over the 4 games both teams combined.

I don't have anything against newbs, I was terrible once (and probably still am depending on which free hero I pick up). But the sheer concentration is amazing. It's just hard to stay patient and keep explaining what to do. Most listen if you're polite though. And I've faced more than a few opposing teams with obvious deficiencies as well, so I guess it balances out.

I'm a old moba player since 2005 I went Dota-> LoL -> Dota 2 and now I was wondering if I should go to Hots. I got bored of LoL because of imo very few diversity in gameplay mechanics, everybody have a skillshot a dash etc... whereas dota has more unique playstyle hero with what we can call "abused" set of ability such as space cow charge or storm ball lightning or Meepo army. I also prefer active items in dota that have much more impact and makes item building something really exigeant. Overall I love also the more wtf aspect of tp/laning switch ganking of dota. My question is the following : Is Hots atm is more : 1) very well balanced with heroes mechanics that are somewhat really similar (LoL style) or 2) Lots of unique style with ability that are borderline OP but everything balance out because there is so much OPness everywhere (Dota style) Also I heard Hots is much more on the get "objectives" done than laning. Are those objectives really shaking things up and are good initiator for ganks etc.?

The only exceptions are the "specialists" who have completely unique movesets that are borderline OP with the right context.

Hero mechanics are fairly simple and similar BUT you have a few heroes who play completely differently, they are almost all from the "specialist" class : Azmodan, Abathur, murky, gazlowe, they seem weak overall but have OP mechanics to make up for it. The objectives are there to force fights, and they accomplish this job very well, you cannot win by ignoring objectives, so you'll have to fight for them. Honestly, try it if you can, I completely stopped playing LoL since I got access. The game right now is lacking in heroes number and in various UI/bugs/feature but this is only the beginning of the beta. The core of the game itself is really addicting and the fact that the games are much shorter makes it, in my opinion, much more enjoyable when you have limited time.

Heroes in this game are much "weaker" than in both LOL and Dota, but its true that some heroes are quite different from other MOBA's.

I'm mainly playing Valla (my MMR on Hotslogs is around 2k5 - 2k7) and I think you should be picking your build depending on enemy team AND maps. Everything below is my humble opinion. My favorite build is this AA build : http://www.heroesfire.com/hots/talent-calculator/valla#rrB0 It gives really high sustain and make it really hard for anybody to 1v1 you once you got your 10+10 stacks rolling. It works good on Garden & Mines because most teamfights will happen around creeps/objectives where you may hopefully have stacks already pilled up before the teamfight. Otherwise it helps getting the objective faster than another build. On Crow & Blackheart, I'd go for Multishot build as a safer way to stale the objective capture and because there tend to be a lot more pokes before teamfights there. On Dragon & Temple, I'll take according to the teams as being able to win skirmish in smaller numbers is often better. AA build is often better in my experience because sustain let you live. My lvl16 talent is highly dependant on teams, whatever my build. Double Vault is really useful againt a Dive heavy team or even a single The Hunt Illidan. Executionner can be pick if you need high DPS and the team provide a lot of CC/slows (Jaina and Arthas come first to my mind, easily enabling executionner on the whole enemy team. Other heroes with AoE slows are also good.) I tried BfB a few time but I find the impact too low and the CD too high (or it simply doesn't fit my playstyle). I also pick ultimate depending on maps. If not enough CC, I'll pick Rain, otherwise I'll go Strafe except on Crow & Garden where a lot of fight happen in the jungle where it's easier to stun multiple people with Rain and harder to dodge stuff while strafing.

I would ban Illidan every game if I could just to ensure that I never saw another Illidan on my team again. The vast majority of Illidan players are catastrophically bad with him.
