I think this has more to do with people not knowing how to utilize the garden terror properly than poor map design. What is the best way? Seems a lot less straightforward than Dragon Knight.
How is it less straight forward than the dragon knight? The Garden Terror is basically the dragon knight 2.0 since it has aoe CC and the plant. You shouldn't be doing vastly different things with them.

Perhaps it's because I soloQ, and we are not as efficient for taking down forts. The good thing is that I still have fun, but when my wife asked when the game will end, I used to underestimate the remaining time. Well, it's still much better than Dota 2.
Edit : Damn, just checked Hotslogs, and the average time is around 23 minutes. I must play very defensive... I mostly solo queue, too, and my average game time is around 23 minutes. I get in far less trouble with my wife when I play this as opposed to LoL. That is because whenever I'm waiting for you to finish you end up playing a 35+ minute game. Carrying solo queue newbs is hard (often backbreaking) work!

5. Lots of cheap heroes puts more stress on Blizzard to release heroes quickly otherwise people will run out of things to spend gold on. The entire point of a F2P model is for that threshold to be hard to achieve. Even as is, you make around ~14k gold a month casually. Assuming Blizzard releases one max price hero a month, you will earn enough gold to eventually buy every hero but it will take time. If the max hero price was lower, people would complete their rosters much faster and there would be less incentive to play the game as much. If the max hero price is lower but Blizzard makes up for it by releasing more heroes, that just means they exponentially increase their own workload and risk compromising the quality of the heroes.
By that logic, no one would play dota because all heroes are unlocked.

Something I thought was interesting, was that the client says over 22k games are being played (at that time), So, that would mean there's between 110k (assuming conservativly everyone is playing co-op) and 220k (assuming everyone is playing versus.
Is that right? That seems way more that I would think, especially for an alpha.

Pretty sure that's just NA.

No its probably global, however, a lot of people don't even know that hotslogs exist, and i guess at lower leagues there is a good chance of people never appearing on hotslogs casuse they play very casually and are on the lower leagues. I would trust battle.net more than hotslogs. However, from experience i know that there are tons of players that only play coop, and some don't even know that versus exist lol.

Just added up real quick, 73,702 people on NA in hotslogs.
Edit: 14k in CN Bronze, 62k in bronze in EU, 12.5k in KOR bronze, don't feel like adding up the rest.

I wouldn't expect hotslogs to be comprehensive given that it's a voluntary thing. Still, it probably has captured most players one way or another.

Just out of curiosity, who do y'all think are the best heroes right now? The heroes that I most hate seeing on the other team are Uther, Brightwing, Abathur, and Chen.

Per role?
I think chen is the best tank, then arthas and stiches. Suports: Reghar and Brightwing and uther DPS:Thycus and valla. Specialist:Nazeebo and hammer

I really, really need to learn how to play modern BW. I still play her the old way only I take Gust instead of Rains at 7. I feel like the only BW I ever see take blink heal anymore.

I'm just talking about best heroes period -- ie the ones that seem to often win games for their teams. The four that I listed are the ones that seem to carry their teams the most and cause my teams the most problems on a consistent basis, which suggests to me that they are very strong heroes overall.

I see a lot of EW BW's at Masters level. I tend to think that it's the better skill overall for its teamfight potential.

As far as competitive play (in no particular order):
Assassin's: Valla, Tychus, Falstad, Kerrigan, Zeratul, Illidan,
Warriors: Chen, Arthas, Stitches, Muradin
Support: Brightwing, Uther
Specalists: Nazeebo, Zagara, Sgt Hammer
Pretty much that's every top tier pick in comp play atm.

Diamond, do you feel any of those particular heroes needs to be nerfed? or do you think the other heroes that aren't "competitive" should be buffed? Or maybe some need nerfs and some buffs?
|
Not that I disagree that those are typical competitive picks, but listing half of the HotS roster isn't exactly responsive to my question of "who are here best."
|
Buffs 100% imo. Ofc there is some things that need nerfs (why does Arthas still have envenom?), but buffs I think would be better. Been a cpl patches now of large scale nerfs, ugh.

There is no "best". Very much depends on the comp. Zeratul is strong as shit but he's awful in comps with double ADC, Arthas is "better" than Chen but there is a variety of reasons I would pick chen over Arthas in some situations (ex: vs Raynor), etc.

As most people have noted, for a technical alpha the game feels remarkably complete. The biggest issues I have are flakey connections and the horrible reconnect options (which appears to be doing a real-time resume from replay which can take forever).

I think chen's lvl 7 rooting flying kick is fucking bullshit. A tank shouldn't have a spammable gap closer that roots on a point and click ability (read: not a skillshot). His ult is also so damn strong and easy to use... why would you ever pick keg ? (a good ult tbh but the other one is just too damn strong)
An other thing that IMO shouldn't be possible is the brew spam to deplete tower ammo or to tank damage for days. You can just sit there and spam brew all day and get your shield, there should be some kind of limit or cooldown on this.
But the game is still alpha (at least for a few days :D) and I'm quite sure blizzard will fix at least one of these
Also I believe you forgot abathur in your list diamond still picked/banned in EU and for good reasons.
edit: Oh I forgot to flex my muscles, I'll add that I'm rank 47 on EU right now with Gazlowe as my most played champ. Don't follow tier lists, play what you like (unless you want to go pro, lol).
