If there are champions you don't like/find boring, why do you want to have them?
The way you gain gold is by making boring quests and getting all heroes up to level 5.
I just need 10 heroes to play ranked, but I would prefer if I could play the ones I like as much as possible. I don't see any advantage to the Heroes grind system relative to the LOL system where you gain gold by playing games with whatever hero you like.
|
Since the last wipe, I've made around 40k gold and I wouldn't consider it hard-core grinding. That's enough to buy a couple 10k heroes and fill the rest out with 2ks and 4ks. If I had a group of players to regularly queue together with, I imagine gold income would've been a bit faster.
Gold income could use some slight tweaking but I think it's not far off from where it should be.

"Probably" and "yet to implement" dies not lead to "fine."
In any case the gold grind is going to be experienced subjectively. Anything that can be called a grind is. They seem happy with the data which means two things: they don't intend to significantly easy the grind, and the people analyzing their data do not have a formal education in statistics. There's actually so much wrong with analyzing player behavior regarding the gold grind with their current sample set it's headache-inducing to consider explaining.

You can't whine about the gold income. This game like LoL is free to play. Of course they want some players to buy heroes for real money. If you don't want to spend any money, fine but you will have to grind.

4h normal playtime for 300(75g/h) gold is ridiculous. People will most likely only do dailies for ~300g per hour or 5man afk to lose in 8mins for 150g/h.

I don't find the gold gain that bad, Getting to lvl 15 and playing to get there lets you buy any 10k hero. For example, i've got 25k gold, and i've got 4 heroes (although, addmitedly, i don't have any 10k hero).
Also, probably ranked mode will give more gold, and theres also the rewars from lvl 15 to 40 that they'va yet to implement. It fine.
And for example, using the argument of hinder of "why should i play heroes i find boring", well, you need to have 10 heroes to play ranked, but you can get them for free even if it takes a while, nobody is forcing you with a gun to buy them. In fact, i would make people almost the same question. If there are champions you don't like/find boring, why do you want to have them? Buying all heroes is expensive in gold/Real money, but if you don't like a hero, you don't need to buy him, so don't buy him, you don't need every hero. In fact, after you've got 10 heroes to play ranked mode, you could just save your money for master skins, or whatever.
Hey just a question, im trying to play heroes but it dissconects me at login, is it because of my conection por is something wrong with b.net because of wow? are u level 15 or something? because all gold u get in here is upfront and after u hit lvl40 u might as well stop playing after doing ur dailies because playing 400games to get 10k hero is absurd

though i agree with the first part i couldn't disagree more with the latter part. Raynor is quite good, he has the best basic attack dps of any hero and his team boost is really good in the teamfight meta that this game seems to be. Maybe not tychus level but I consider him better than valla.
He is boring to play though and the typical 'introduction' hero. They should have given him some more cool active talents to compensate so he starts out as the 'get used to the game' hero with only 2 abilities and then becomes quite interesting later.
Some heroes like lili, sgt.hammer and diablo are super dull and bad though I think.

Haha, gazlowe is actually quite good, he just plays differently you have to take mercs camps a lot, control points with turrets, push and ....... pray to god you land that E R E W combo, he's obviously really hard to teamfight with
as for the crappy heroes for me malfurion is pretty high up there :D goes oom in 3seconds wth are you supposed to do if you can't spam your heals/cc, he should be able to innervate himself

I hardly ever check my bnet mail and saw I had an Heroes invite 2 weeks ago. Started playing a bit yesterday, wondering how long it takes to get to lvl 20. Since none of my friends have Heroes it would be nice to get lucky in the draw.
Is there an XP difference playing coop or versus? I really need to read up on this game -.-

It took me about 80 games to get to level 20. It's faster if you que with a friend for the xp bonus (50%).

coop vs versus doesn't matter that much. Coop you dominate the computer but you can't get a win bonus so xp gain is about the same. Longer games are the way to go though, 1 long games gives more than twice the xp of two short ones. The whole leveling is fairly slow though, buying your first few cheap heroes goes easily but after that it get's really slow.
There are a few 1k gold bonusses for leveling early and 500 gold for a hero to lvl 5. For the rest there are daily quests which seem to average about 400 gold a day (usually 200-300 but occasionally 600-700). A game tends to give 30 gold i believe. So a 10k hero substracting the 500 you get for it is like 9500 / 500 = ~19 days. After the initial ~20k from start bonusses etc it get's really slow to get heroes even if you play like 5-10 games a day.

Blizzard would still do a shit ton of money by selling cool skins.

inb4 "well you don't need to play all the heroes so a limited pool of rotation heroes is more than enough because you need to master them blah blah"

I think players are more likely to spend money if they have fun playing the game as well. If they doesn't enjoy playing the game and is not forced to pay in order to have fun, I think the earnings of Blizzard will decline.

I still dont get how there can be so many Dota2 fanboys that dont realize that the way Dota2 is monetized works only for Dota2 and Valve alone. Becouse even if they didnt do money on the game they would still get the people on Steam which value for Valve by itself. Games that tried to sell only cosmetics died unhonorable death except for Dota2. Sigh, it was discussed many times over in this thread. I am probably beating a dead horse.

Dont have any data, but there are certainly people that use steam for dota. I was at that point some time back, even thou i had some games in my steam library other then dota, i had only dota installed. And i am sure theres tons of people who start their steam only because of Dota. My point is even if nobody would get steam for Dota(since i cant prove someone does) if you play Dota you are exposed to Steam and its advertising, thus teoretically increasing their sales. They cant sell/advertise you stuff if you dont have the app open.
