They are the lowest on the totem-pole. But it still could be true. If it is, 1 month until everyone from opt-in is included? This would indicate that open beta starts in 3-4 weeks.

If you are decent, and play the strong heroes, its pretty easy to get 7+ wins atm. If your very low on gold, goign for 8 wins instead of 9 tends to give you more gold, at the cost of packs/golden cards, and is what I would recommend until you have a couple of buy in's of buffer room in case of terrible rng.

Yeah, agreed with this. For now, it's a lot easier to go pseudo-infinite on arena than I thought it would be. You'll occasionally get shafted with your choice of cards, but I'm averaging 7 wins per arena run and that combined with daily quests means I haven't paid in to the arena in a couple of weeks. This will likely only get easier once more people are invited and open beta comes along, but I expect over time it will get more competitive. At least I hope it does.

This assuming one Arena per day, which seems fair since it takes 1-1.5 hours on average. These are my stats post patch (pre-patch I did only 3 arena runs, so I'm still inexperienced - though I played MtG for years): - 15 arena runs - 5.73 wins on average - 117 gold per arena run on average - 650 spare gold (no real money, never bought packs since the patch) Of course I'm improving, in the last 10 runs I averaged 7 wins... anyway, the point is that a mediocre player like me can easily go infinite with daily quest + one Arena run per day. Besides, Arena is "always" more convenient than buying packs - except for those who don't like the format. That said, I'm not sure what will happen after the official release... more competitive environment, so less wins for everyone, or maybe the complete opposite (more noobs to slain). The skill cap isn't very high, unless Blizzard makes a couple expansions per year like MtG, so eventually the skill differential will flatten in the long run.

Well, I've had a key for 3 days, and with playing ALOT of hearthstone I'm at 810 gold with a 4-1 priest right now. I only had to 1.99 once in like my third or fourth run. The more you play arena the better you have to do to go infinite with it though.

At the moment i feel like priests are quite strong. They have insane card draw and can easliy remove anything you put out with shadow word:death/pain. As much as i would like to build a deck entirely out of 4 atk minions i don't think it would do so well against other decks.

That's why I said that being able to afford one Arena per day seems fair, since most people will play no more than a couple hours a day, and for them the daily quest is the most efficient (as in, time/gold) way to earn gold. Daily quests stack up to 3 if I'm not mistaken, so whoever can play only few hours every few days still has a reasonable chance to play Arena. Finally, "hardcore gamers" that spend a lot of time playing can choose between farming constructed, paying the Arena entries in real money, or just be very good at it (7 wins). Seems fair as well. I think the only problem is for people who don't like Arena... I can see how playing constructed for hours may be a bitter experience when you have very small chances to improve your deck or try different strategies that rely on rare+ cards. In fact, that's the reason why I play Arena only. But I guess that Blizzard has to take money in a way or another.

Also, are there bigger rewards for playing ranked vs unranked? How about arena vs ranked?

I literally just finished my first 9 win run and I've probably done 20 or so runs since I got into beta, it's legitimately difficult to break into the 7-9 win range consistently when you start. I still only have an average of probably 4.5 wins per run. On October 16 2013 15:06 nyxnyxnyx wrote: I'd like to spend real money on the game (like a few dollars) for the gift. How about arena vs ranked? you should go for the arena entry to get a feel for drafting and because you're guaranteed a pack anyway. supposedly blizz is going to add weekly rewards depending on what your ranked medal was during the week, and generally you're going to be playing arena or spending money to get cards to play constructed or ranked with.
