US based company and a small side project. Plus great thing about the US only beta you get a huge audience of people to test from and you only need English which is perfect for a card game where words can matter.

I understand why they always start US only but it stings a bit everytime

Can't you just make a US account.

Yeah but the beta thing takes your ip and bandwidth so you'd need a decent proxy as well.

Eh, Magic was pretty arcane (hardy-har-har) when it first came out compared to now. Legends was particularly bad about this, though a lot of the expert sets did some bizarre things.

Feast your eyes on Takklemaggot, Ice Cauldron, Chains of Mephistopheles, Necropotence. They kinda went crazy. Biggest offenders in Alpha for wordy annoyingness is Animate Dead, but "protection" as a mechanic alone still has yet to be outclassed for complexity.

Well, banding and phasing might have been, but those got retired in the early days.

such madness

Yeah magic has the problem of trying to keep fresh and bring out new cards while interacting with other cards, Which is why I try not to touch anything older then Modern for competition but Modern can be silly but it's not legacy silly yet. Casual is fun as sometimes it's just fun to make a deck around an idea even if it's not a winner. I do wonder about how blizzard is going about developing cards and if they add mechanics or avoid doing so to keep things simple or what and the effects of power creep.

Also no need to convert currency since their shop is now fully operational?

Damn, just as I though I was getting away from Blizzard, they manage to dish out a game that I am interested in. Not gonna try hard to get a beta key though. I will wait for the full release.
Also @ Blizzard, pls make this game available for android devices O_O.

Just finished an arena match against a guy that pulled not 1, not 2, but *3* legendaries in his arena deck. Al'Akir to start things off (handled that) followed by Black Knight (ok...), and then when all looked lost - oh hey how about this Deathwing.

That seems pretty silly.

If you're not going to make it a set 20 Common 7 rare 2 epic 1 legendary or something, at least restrict the chances of getting multiple legendaries, imho.

Well it's basic, white, rare, epic, legendary. Plus mixing in class specific cards i do think how they randomly generate cards needs to be changed. I'm not sure how i feel about when the 3 cards pop up for rare + they are all rare all epic or all legendary, i think that's a cop out, i think it's a more interesting interaction if you're not picking your best rare but just the best card out of 3 if it's rare then that's because it works with your deck as well.

Fuck me. I am really sucked into this game just watching it. It drives me nuts watching people play just horribly though. So many people don't understand curving out, how to get good blockers out, how to not over extend etc. I agree with some people that it makes you want to close the stream. On the other hand the game seems simple and pretty damn fun.

If they make this for android devices, I have a feeling I will be doomed.

I hear horror stories from my friends who play Rage of Ragnorok or Puzzles and Dragons and they invest hundreds (almost thousands) of dollars just to get the best stuff in-game.

I never quite understood their addiction, I was never a phone-app buff to begin with anyways. But I have a feeling if this may be the end of me... Ive been watching streams all day and it looks really fun =x

Lol if people draw those cards vs me id just have horrible flashbacks to trying to kill those raid bosses in WoW and just freeze and not move and get timed out or something xD
Damn...Deathwing as well /shudder

Surprised how much love this game is getting, i will keep up to date with this thread but it looks a nice little designed game at the moment. Lets hope Blizzard listen to the beta participants for any changes that might be needed during the course of the BETA.

After a little more than a day of watching I already feel a dire need to get a beta invite. Went to my batte.net profile today just to peek at it and it turns out I didn't have the game checkmarked in my beta settings when I thought I already had! Well, surely they will send me an invite tomorrow now that I have done that. =D

Been trying so hard to make a warrior deck work, but it just feels weaker than the other heros.

Any ideas?

Warrior deck seems suited to have a lot of cheap minions around, some charge buffers and hero weapons and go for the throat.

That's pretty clever. Trying to trade a beta key for a game that will be in beta for a long time, for one which will have no more betas.

This is seriously the most addicting game to watch on Twitch. I can't watch any other streams anymore.

you clearly havent heard of saltybet...

but yeah as somebody who have decent CCG knowledge, the only streams that i could enjoyed so far are Robsimpson and day9. Their decks and their decision making process are pretty solid while others are learning from 0.

I hope day9 has changed, because he was doing a lot of day1 mistakes (pun non intended). Pretty much like when he streamed XCOM, i had to shut down the stream. The ones i had watched, only kripp is a good player, and i am not speaking about decks, but fast calculations and right decission making with whatever they are given. Most of the others are just horrible (djwheat is funny tho <3), even with much better decks/draws than their opponents you are just facepalming the whole game at all the mistakes, like forgetting to dagger up if you have points, or just basic math.

Yeah i am enjoying a lot watching people play, and i rarely do it (the only stream i watch is when bomber's stream pops online).

But to be honest, noone is streaming arenas right now, which is by far the funnier and more balanced choice for me, specially when many of the streamers had bought shitload of packages (the rogue i was speaking about, got trolled by twitch's chat and ended up like buying 80/120 booster packs lol).

Kripp decisions show that he is quite inexperienced. Yeah build and theory crafting is fine, but there come multiple concept such as saving card, mana curve, hand power that i dont think he get it. It is expected for everyone to behave like such though. The game is brand new, the cards are brand new so it takes time for them to learn shits. The thing is you can easily spot out streamers thinking process, how fast can they solve a given situation and how many variables they have taken into account to solve it. And in that field, day9 and rob were definitely the best of the whole.

Man, i hope they not gona treat this like sc2 beta and drag it out for the entire quarter without ever giving me a beta key.

When I watched Day9, he was pretty bad at making decisions / forgot stuff all the time. Rob was okay.
That being said, I don't mind it that much and I watch JP's Stream all the time.

If you want to watch someone better play, Trump is doing pretty well in arenas.
