I played MTG casually with some local tournaments during my high school days, and that game was sooooo hard to learn... After watching hearthstone for 2 days i feel like i know most cards and spell effects...
Also, i feel like not being able to block, no tremple, fear, flyers ETC ETC, not being able to spring your secret whenever you want, but on the first atack/cast AND SO MUCH MORE...is taking away from the game.
It just seems to be an interesting game and nothing more, with no depth whatsoever. I am still really interested to play it though. And i hope that following patches/editions/decks will bring a lot more to the table. Honestly, if we want this game to last more then a week , it really needs it.
I wanted Hearthstone to be good so bad. But after realizing its also on tablets and, lets be honest, Blizzard is making the game, i realized it willl never have the depth or difficulty anywhere near that of MTG.
Now im just hoping the game is atleast slightly enjoyable and people dont figure out any cookie cutter deck builds with all these abundant board clearing, low mana cost, easy to use spells so that i atleast have another game to play while taking a break from Dota.
NOt very hopeful though, based off of all 3 of Blizzards newest installments of great franchises of old. (Diablo3, Sc2, WoW post BC)

I genuinely wonder why people were expecting Hearthstone to be an MTG clone. I thought the announcements from the beginning made it clear what kind of game it would be.
I've played MTG and other CCGs (table-top, mind you, not online) and I think Hearthstone is casual and quick enough to scratch the itch of playing a match while I don't happen to be around other players.

Pretty much this.
I don't know why people expected Blizzard to create a clone of a game that already exists in the same format just to directly compete with it.

Maybe more like...hoping for an MTG that you can play for less then 100-10000$ a year ^^

game looks fun, could do with some tweaks and as long as they keep adding new cards it should do well.
if you're looking for mtg then you should probably just play mtg.

I don't know why people keep comparing this to MTG, but to me it seems like a mixture of a few and it's own. The whole class idea more or less reminds me of DBZ TCG. Too many people looking at it like it's hardcore. What happened to the days of video games are fun because they are? Don't get me wrong, this can be played competitively, hell anything can.

Were people really arguing that you have a 50% win chance if MMR is doing what it does right in the arena?
seriously? are you guys forgetting that there is a drafting part of arena? if i'm a better drafter than everyone, even if my playskill is the same i'm going to do better with my better draft.

By the way, the MMR is influenced by the results in posterior "draft skills". if by influenced you mean that eventually over time you will be pit against good drafters as well, but the fact that there is a draft means that you will ALWAYS be outdrafting some people at the same MMR level as you and always be outdrafted by some people.

The OP should change the title. Its a Warcraft TCG, not a WoW TCG.

Because its nearly impossible to get people to play MTG with you based off the millions of cards/decks/strats already in the game that youd have to learn, let alone the cost of everything. Its like trying to get all these Sc2 people to play BW.
Just because of the theme of Hearthstone alone it will have a playerbase, so if it was anything near as good as MTG id be able to play a worse game just to have people to actually play with.

If you take the phrase WoW literally its basically correct. The TCG is based off the "world" of Warcraft.

Precisely. Of course, all of us (and the majority of the world) are excellent drafters/players and nobody will break even or below. The subject was brought up because people were claiming that you can go infinite arena. That you can, of course, but is extremely unlikely for most people, and you can take a look around to find out how long will it take for those people to be able to play arenas before withouth paying cash. And that will mean eventually you will get less bad drafters/players, and more around your level.

i would like to play this game but from what i have seen from gameplay it isn't that complicated, all the cards i saw were minions, enhancing minions, hero attack and board clears.i myself play the pokemon tcg (online) and i find that being a lot more complicated (more different cards, effects etc.) not that heartstone has to be difficult but i see it more as a casual card game rather then a hardcore competetive game like sc2. still nice that they made it though .

Maybe Blizzard is saving them for expansion. I think casual game is good. I don't really want another game where you need to read strategy forums 1-2h/day just to be able to keep up with others.

It's never meant to be a complicated game... Blizzard have enough investment in complicated games.

I wouldn't mind paying 20 or 30$ and actually get the whole thing since it looks fun enough. I've always liked card games and to a broader extent board games but I've always been put off by the whole trading part of it (buying cards). If to win I have to put additional money(or a stupid amount of grind) into it the fun ends here for me because I just feel I'm being manipulated. Too bad, I'll have to pass
Makes me also wonder where Blizzard is going with this and the late D3 AH.

it looks great, cant wait to get a beta key and start playing!

At least BW is free. Try getting into MTG and playing against people with $1000 decks. MTG is the most pay-to-win game on the planet (except drafting).
