Nice episode. + Show Spoiler +I almost thought Inc might get chosen for elimination, seeing as he was in last place and whatshername intrigued against him. Too bad Alyson was eliminated, her (fake?) boobs were quite spectacular.

Lol I think alot of people are upset because honestly the pgr experiences did not seem that impressive. that track had mayeb one sharp turn on it and so many people were messing up. I am not callign people out saying I would be better then them or brag about acomplishments but I can see where people are throwing a little salt into the game. Console gaming is just not as tough to master as pc gaming and its been proven and its why the major popular esports are all pc games for the most part.

Like many people posting here, I am disappointed in the quality of play we have been seeing. Some blame has to be place at the feet of the producers, as the format is pretty terrible:
Eliminations are likely to be the worst player vs and equally bad player or someone much better than them. This results in noob vs noob or just a noob stomp.*
*+ Show Spoiler +when i say 'noob' i mean in the sense of that game, irrelevant of other gaming strengths.
The Isolation challenges are pretty suspect aswell. The VF5 challenge agaiinst the computers was just silly, and no real test of skill. The PGR laps didnt start with a rolling start as far as i can tell, making the first lap pretty much void.
Additionally, the gamers picked for the show all seem to be focused on one game/genre. Furthermore we have yet to see a competitor playing thier chosen game/genre and stepping it up. I mean no offense to StarSlayer but from the clips shown on the RB2 episode the level of play wasnt that amazing. This may have been down to the editing or whatnot, but a rhythm game expert should not be dropping multiplyers on 'Come out and Play'.
This week i was disappointed that Alyson went home as i was eager to see if she really could shine on Halo 3, as its one of my favorite games and I follow the pro circuit so I would be able to spot if they were actually good. Jamal wasnt great at PGR and considering his speciality is billed as 'fighting games' he wasnt great at VF5 either. In terms of PGR, I didnt see one perfect corner. Again this may come down to editing and the terrible Elimination format, but i really expected better.

I really love Jamal, I hope he wins. I think he's the only person I REALLY like on that show. Dante is funny too but only because he keeps hyping himself up in the real life events and then completely blows at them, he's a mini lastshadow, except dante actually does well on the gaming part. I do think it's hilarious how he can't even handle the slightest thing, acting like he has to choose between life and death lol.
Im really glad Alyson is gone by the way, I get so annoyed at her acting cute all the time. Way to set an example by coming on a show that tries to discourage stereotypes with huge fake boobs and acting like a 12 year old girl, ugh.
I agree on the really bad performance part by the way, seems funny that 'the ultimate gamer' is bumping into corners left and right and making HUGE mistakes haha oh well, doesn't make the show less fun for me to watch though.

But NONE of them made it past the fifth stage, that's the problem. Even the people that are being advertised as "pro-gamer, fighting game specialists" are apparently unable to beat a single-player mode that's designed so that casual gamers can beat it in a week or so.
And it's been the same way in the other games too- they're failing at things that objectively just aren't that hard. In the first one, I guess most of them had never played rock band before (which is surprising considering how popular it is), but never mind that, they still sucked at it. Even with an entire day to practice one song, they were struggling just to get through it on hard mode, never mind expert. It took me like, half an hour before I could do that lol.
And in the racing game, we see people wiping out like, every lap. In every racing game that I've played, with people that are moderately good even one major wipe out like that will lose the race. The only time you see people crashing like that, in every lap, are when they're complete noobs who don't know the race track. If you have an ENTIRE DAY to practice ONE TRACK, how hard is it? I realize they've edited out the good parts of their performance, but even if all the racing they didn't show was absolutely perfect, they would still kinda suck.
I know I'm being a little harsh here, but cmon... when you're on TV competing to be the "ultimate gamer" there's not much excuse for looking like someone that's barely even played the game before.

I hope my post didnt come off the wrong way. I'm not attempting to say that i could take down this competition (although I'd LOVE a shot haha).
I'm mainly just annoyed at the producers. considering the show is the Ultimate Gamer, a very small portion of the show is based on games and like Luddite said, considering its the search for the best all round gamer there are some terrible performances.
Concerning actually playing with them, I would love to. Imo you get better when you lose, so if i am really outclassed then at least i'll learn something.
for those interested in H3, here is Alysons profile http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/RankHistory.aspx?player=Nin9tyNin9
She has a high rank and progressed quickly which is impressive, although it doesnt show the game with her highst skill. I'm guessing its Team Swat, given her high Battle Rifle percentage.

Once again, it's not a gaming competition, it's just a reality show based on gaming. Repeat after me: NOT a gaming competition. It wasn't designed to produce the highest level of gameplay. It wants to show gamers playing popular games and make it dramatic/exciting. I seriously doubt that anyone producing or participating in the show honestly ever thought that the winner would have a legitimate claim to being the best gamer in the world. If you have a problem with that, just don't watch it. If you want to watch high quality, top level gaming, you know exactly where to find it. If you want to enjoy watching Geoff compete in a bunch of games and real life challenges with a cast of interesting characters for a chance to win a pile of money, watch WCG Ultimate Gamer. No need to require the two to be one and the same.
By the way, to claim that nobody on the show is a good gamer is clearly ignorant. We as Starcraft fans are spoiled by having the most advanced and professional scene to follow in Korea, based on a truly incredible game played by monstrously skilled gamers. Compared to licensed progamers like that, yeah, all the people on the show are casual scrubs. But come on, try to be a little bit open about their accomplishments. You might not respect the games they play, but they do take skill, and the competitors on the show have displayed their skill, dedication, and drive to win in the games they play. They are good gamers. Don't be silly.

The merits of the show are very easy to question sure, however who cares were here for INCONTROL GO GEOFF!

I think most people are aware that it is not going to produce the highest level of gameplay, but given that it has WCG in the title, aswell as Ultimate Gamer, there should be a modicum of skill displayed, no?
I am not disputing the games, I love Halo 3, I love PGR, I love RB and yes they all take skill. Not as much compared to SC, and no, we arent going to see Flash/Jaedong levels of skill but some of what has been shown can ONLY be described as terrible. I dont want to single anybody out, but Mark recieved top notch coaching for a WCG champ and was shown facing the wrong way and taking ages to turn around in the Isolation challenge. That speaks for itself.
*EDIT* yeah, I'm only really watching for Inc, but still my point remains valid.

Does anyone know if Jamal is a Super Smash Brothers Champion? I feel like I've seen him before and that's the only thing that seems to fit.
+ Show Spoiler [Episode III] +Also my heart was pounding when they singled out Incontrol for a second there.

If he made a bad lap and/or a mistake towards the end, the smart thing to do would be to back away and reach as high speed as possible at the start of the new lap, instead of just starting with the speed he already had and doing another bad lap, because of that. I've done a similar trick, when I was probably no more than 10 years old in order to beat the lap records of other people on the computers in my dad's office and I really doubt he couldn't see the big letters "WRONG WAY" for like 10 seconds.

OK, after suffering through 3 episodes'-worth of the play-by-play guy's insipid commentary, I can't take it anymore. Somebody has got to start compiling his idiotic lines. Here are a few gems from this last episode, ranging from painfully obvious to oxymoronic to obliviously sarcastic.
How do you win? Simple: cross the finish line first.
...poor line for Jamal. That should give Alyson a little bit of a headstart, in terms of catching up.
She goes too slow for the turn!--into first gear--it's a good thing for Alyson, Jamal took that turn poorly as well: they are both proving to be very skilled PGR players.

I laughed so hard at that phrase, such a terrible moment to announce that they're skilled.

That speaks for itself. *EDIT* yeah, I'm only really watching for Inc, but still my point remains valid. From a marketing perspective, I think they absolutely have the right to put 'wcg' 'ultimate gamer' 'competition' etc etc. The modern game market is having to turn away from single player games because it's easier to make money and protect game integrity with online muliplayer games. By making every random casual gamer feel like everything is an intense competition (and not only that, but that playing [and hence buying] all sorts of different games to get good at is a great idea), they power the growth of gaming, even at the expense of people who've become really good at specific games. It'd be very naive to think that the games played in this show didn't have at least some financial support to make the cut. It's not like WCG is going to be paying companies to do incredible advertising for their games.
Really, it is what it is. Geoff is really, really good at the games he plays, and he did terrible on the racing game. It's just a fact that most people stick to one game genre (that they're at all competetive with), and suck at everything else. We're not going to see StarCraft ever in this competition for a lot of reasons, but it isn't because Geoff would own too much at it, or the audience would be bored. It's cause it's a 10 year old game that Blizzard isn't gonna pay to advertise. If SC2 were done, I would bet it would be in this show. When the FPS shooters come out, some players are going to do ridiculously good, and other players are going to crash and burn as if it were Geoff 4pooling them in StarCraft (ie games aren't chosen based on any kind of watching value/competitive value).
+ Show Spoiler +Don't mind me, just having a nice loud brain yawn to wake myself up
