its certainly laughable when americans seem to think that "they saved europe", but thinking germany would have been defeated without american help is equally stupid.

I'm not denying that the USA had an important role (as did every country save France). You had your heroes (RAF), we had ours (the resistance). We had our dumbasses/cowards (Petain), you had yours (Chamberlain?? his whole handling of the Munich agreement, etc. Deciding not to attack when 9/10 of the German army was in Poland). Dunkerk was as much a defeat for the English forces as for the French. If you wanna talk about courage, why not talk about WWI? Why say "every country but France"? Do you know anything about WWII? Don't you know that France wasn't the only country invaded? Why don't you talk about...China? Why don't you talk about Italy's role? Your sentence is quite disrepectful towards all French people who fought in the Resistance, probably one of the most courageous acts I can think about. Americans were brave to come to Europe etc. but even that, being sent by your home country to help another one, cannot compare to freely choosing of resisting in a climate of intense fear, when you know other resistants around you have been tortured to death. Same for Russian people, their only choice was between two guns. Anyway. I have a lot of respect for France, military wise, but not because of their resistance in WW2. Any person from any nation will resist occupation. Look at terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan. Are they not resisting allied forces in their own countries?
Forget WW2, even WW1. If you want to talk about France's military might, talk about Napoleon Bonaparte. Talk about the fact that the last nation to invade Britain, something not even Germany could do, was France in the 11th century, but for god's sake do not mention France and WW2 in the same sentence.

Sweden has *Free education *Almost free healthcare * Almost no drugs *Girls are pretty (I think that there are pretty girls everywhere) * No social pressure to start university * A social system that helps alomost everyone.

As for Canada, words can't describe and include everything that is so great about this country....
But if you want proof, look no further than to our "great" neighbors to the south. Some of them try to belittle Canada but there is a saying and a true saying indeed; "The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves.". They can only dream about being Canadian!

Three mother fuckin words: New York City
I also love how we have such a cluster fuck of cultures, esp in the NYC area, cuz I can get awesome food from pretty much any country in the world =]
And, as much as we bitch about our current administration and how they are pissing all over our rights, we're pretty much free to do a lot of things that would get you shot in other countries. That's totally unappreciated by many people, esp our current generation.

Plus we're free to have offensive views like the KKK. You may find those views despicable, but I think most Americans agree banning them is even worse.

that doesnt get you shot. :p
we do in europe have some dormant anti-racism laws though (in norway, there has only been one case ever of someone being charged with it though, that is when this political party named "white election-alliance" had "forced sterilization of every non-western adopted person" as part of their political program. )
but if you think you're free to say anything everywhere in usa you're pretty wrong.. usa does not have less government censorship than western european countries because there is essentially none here either. seriously, that one incident is the only incident where "free speech" was stopped in the past 20 years, it's not like you can freely go around screaming "i have a bomb im going to kill the american president" in usa either.

I don't think that is really true. Most Chinese people can't understand each other natively, because there are so many major dialects like Mandarin Cantonese Hakka Shangainese and then there are even Mandarin Dialects. For example Mandarin is a completely different language to Cantonese (some people will argue otherwise) but it's being branded as a dialect so that the country can say that the whole country has 1 language. They are really different languages.

Yes, I agree with what you say; however, my post wasn't about military skills/organization, more about courage. Anyway, in the line of what you said, I suggest everyone read this very good article http://www.exile.ru/articles/detail.php

well, one of the things we used to have that was top notch among the rest of the world was the best free university education. It's still pretty good, but not what it used to be. There have been and there are a lot of Argentinians that become really successful in their chosen field of study... (when they move abroad usually :S)
On the subjective side, we have the most beautiful girls in the world, and the most % of good looking (omg Rosario). Food here is really good and comparatively cheap. Best bbq in the world (but not anymore.... thanks Kirchner). We have almost every beauty that nature can show: Iguazú (waterfall), Perito Moreno(Continental Ice), Andes (Mountains), decent beaches, jungles (Misiones :O), forests (San Martín de los Andes on Autum :O), and the list goes on.
The only really shitty thing about my country is the people that live in it
