Well, starting now, no more masks required in indoor spaces in BC Vaccine passports still in place for another month. Slowly getting back to normal I guess, which makes sense given ~93.3% of all 12+ and 91% of all eligible have at least one dose. Hospital/ICU's been in decline for a month now, even though deaths are still steady, so it's less of a healthcare crisis. Back to normal by summer it seems.

Reasons are obviously that more things are allowed now compared to a few months back. But dropping masks seems a bit too much I think. edit: I just read they ARE planning to drop mask requirements on most things like schools and shopping centers, but not for public transportion and nursing homes, starting from March the 20th. We'll see I guess.

Even after the virus is essentially beaten, this pandemic will still live on for a long time in our minds and the way we behave, which I find very scary! I even notice it on my own behavior, always asking before entering an elevator with someone, often greeting with the elbow, talking less to strangers... I even tried to find an FTP2 mask as I had to meet up with someone who though they were infected. Returning to the normal quality of life will take a long time, and lifting the mandatory restrictions is only a part of it. Maybe we will be less sick, but at what cost?

Working from home arrangements 100% need to be kept as a silver lining of COVID, if they make sense to organisations and people. Things havenot really kicked into gear for me, I’ve no real intention to travel (first time in Dublin for three years yesterday). No gigs upcoming that really tickle my pickle. The biggest relief and change is considerably less people playing epidemiology or fractious arguments on the topic, which, partly due to lessening anyway, in part to Ukraine have largely taken a back seat. I’m sure as things normalise further there will be other benefits I enjoy more, but genuinely my biggest current plus point is a relative cessation of COVID discussion

Hence it looks good in the hospitals, albeit record numbers. Our minister of public health is of a different opinion, urging caution in contrast to the rising feeling that we're staying to get over it. (Maybe others can add to that feeling I'm getting in Berlin)

At the same time, I can understand why employers do not wish to set the bar too low for employees to 'get off sick' (whether to go on leave, miss important meetings, defer deadlines, etc). Yes, health is paramount. But too much leeway will result to abuse. Sure, some of us are honest hard-working drones. But there are others who will take advantage of every loophole and make a living hell for the rest of us at the workplace. God forbid the employees get a small benefit if it's at the corporation's expense. Its not like a corporation would ever take a advantage of a loophole as far as their employees are concerned.

I also hope that wearing masks will be normalized. Current employer is very openly aiming for a hybrid model where people go to the office when needed, but can work remotely as much as they want. When needed also includes things like "I want to socialize with other people".

Stating that as a fact without backing it up is where I simply won't follow the narrative and see no reason to engage further than asking for substantiation of said feelings.

But, it isn't for everyone and online communication does have its limitations, in education, it has generally been a failure. By nature, we are very social creatures who like to see, touch and smell each other.

I work in legal, and I think the widespread adoption of zoom depositions is a godsend. I think some good things from COVID is that...a lot of the cracks in society were exposed and widened. Like, inadequate sick leave, how doomsday preppers totally ignored the apparent significant need of cosmetology, and how a lot of min. wage workers are completely undervalued when they're "essential". I feel bad for teachers because now I think its completely undeniable that they're glorified babysitters. I know they do more than that, but in regards to society as a whole, they are the crux of it. And they need more compensation/love for that. And personally, I experienced a lot of growth from the pandemic in that I am urgently planning a more extroverted lifestyle, now I see everything that was denied to me for two years.

https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/598026-pfizer-ceo-says-a-fourth-booster-shot-is-necessary?amp Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said on Sunday that a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be necessary to continue to help keep hospitalizations manageable and sicknesses more mild. "Right now, the way that we have seen, it is necessary, a fourth booster right now. The protection that you are getting from the third, it is good enough, actually quite good for hospitalizations and deaths," Bourla said while appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation." "It's not that good against infections but doesn't last very long. But we are just submitting those data to the FDA [Food and Drug Administration], and then we will see what the experts also will say outside Pfizer," he added.

It's called human nature. People here (before covid) were routinely caught buying medical licences to miss work. No oversight inevitably leads to some sort of abuse.
