Team Liquid Fighting

Text byBumblebee

We've come together with Namecheap and Team Razer to create the ultimate esports experience! As we kick off the largest contest we've ever done, you can win a trip to DreamHack Winter or LCS, get to have dinner with your favorite Team Liquid players, and watch them compete—all while decked out in TL swag. That's not where we're stopping though: you can also win coaching by a number of our players, as well as Team Liquid, Namecheap, and Razer merchandise.

Now you're asking yourself "How do I enter?!?!" It's really simple. You join the competition by registering or transferring a domain to Namecheap. By hitting the "Enter here" button below, you'll get taken straight to the TL Fighting website. There you will find a section that describes in detail how you do one, or both, of those things.

If you cannot attend DHW or LCS, or would simply rather like to attend another event within the same region, we'll work with you to the best of our ability to get you there instead.

Team Liquid Fighting!

- Robin Nymann, Head of esports at Team Liquid

"We're incredibly excited to be announcing TLFIGHTING.COM with Team Razer and Team Liquid. We here at Namecheap believe that the community deserves cool and new ways to interact with their favorite players and their favorite teams. Bringing TL pros and fans together is a great first step to continue to grow esports. Let us know what you think!"

- Sebastian Park, Head of esports at Namecheap

"Team Razer is not just a group of players - it's also an idea; a concept that allows players to thrive as true professionals and pioneer eSports. With that comes a unique experience that only the most elite have encountered - until now. We're very happy to join Namecheap in providing this unique opportunity for 2 lucky fans to get a taste of the pro experience, and we hope that it's an experience they take with them for the rest of their lives."

- Drew Holt-Kentwell, Head of esports at Razer

This is a bit akward in my opinion.

You have to transfer a domain name ( website ) to namecheap in order to get into the pot of people that are able to win the contest.

Now call me crazy, but how many people do you think on TL ( all of them ) actually own his/her own website and are willing/able to transfer their sites.

In my opinion a bit far fetched marketing strategy there boys

It seems pretty awesome to me that you can spend $3.98 and win a trip that's worth more than a few thousand dollars, no?

websites and domains are different things entirely. You can even just register a pw domain (with no website) for $4.

Hi

Is the contest open to only North America and EU TL members.

What if I am from the Caribbean?

Would I be eligible to enter?

That's what most "enter to win"-competitions are, aren't they?

Meh, a "giveaway" with an entry fee. Seems kind of fishy and unusual, not a big fan of it anyway. :/

In a practical sense, yes. That being said, it's a "giveaway" which lets the organizers bypass "gambling laws."
At least I'm pretty sure that's how it works out, but if someone knows better, lemme know.

BW, Dota 2, Heroes of Newerth even since according to Dreamhack it's more worth having at their events than SC2

Anyway, I was hoping this contest would be a little more open to people. Not that many will have a domain they're willing to just change up for the sake of a contest.

That also broke my heart. Granted I only started to get into DotA.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my memory says that TL made Liquiddota when they acquired a DotA squad.
I wonder when they'll next buy one. Maybe mouz?

There are games that pay DH to be hosted there and games DH host themselves. They are very different things even if they might look the same from the outside. I don't know about this specific case though.

CS:GO team is complete bullshit right now and DotA 2 team(while it lasted) hasn't really performed that good either. Don't know about other teams but yeah, they gotta fix the existing teams before announcing a new one.

It seems pretty awesome to me that you can spend $3.98 and win a trip that's worth more than a few thousand dollars, no?

if you're advocating that it's a good idea to buy the service for a chance to win the prize, that's pretty fucking dubious. It's a nice bonus if you already need this service but to act like it's a good deal to just spend $4 just to enter the content for a chance to win a trip, well, yikes.

I don't understand. How can we get a dinner with Team Liquid's players when Team Liquid don't even have a dota team anymore?

Are any of the coaching prizes transferable to starcraft? Or street fighter? I would love the chance to play with knuckledu or xian and get real help on a game I actually play.

I want to make a website called theworldisround.net, which is devoted to making fun of flat-earthers and circlejerking on the forums about how the world is clearly round.

Well, it's a lottery ticket with the extra bonus that you could use (or transfer) a domain name.

If you don't like lottery, then...

In these times where entering a """contest""" means retweeting + following a twitter account or sharing a facebook page.........

Niiiice! If you get 250 people from the site to buy new domains you've made up for the cost of the so called prize. Nice giveaway, no doubt about it!

Thank you! It seems like you care about the cost, so I'll shed some light on it:

DreamHack is a 3-day event where the hotels are very experience. You'd arrive the day before the tournaments and you'd be travelling home the day after, so you'd need 4 nights of hotel. The hotels at DreamHack are somewhere between $150-200 a night for anything that's remotely decent in the area that's not outside of the city. In addition, the ticket to DreamHack costs roughly $70 (it might be a little lower now that the dollar has become stronger), but in addition to that we'd get you access to hang out with us in backstage spaces, go on stage and whatnot. Lastly, depending on where in Europe you'd be from for this trip it could cost anything from $100 to $500. The average price I'd total up a little bit above what you're saying, and now you can times that by two due to us doing the exact same thing in the United States for the LCS. Now, that is one day shorter, but the hotels are also more pricey in Santa Monica.

Looking forward to meet whoever wins, will be great fun!

You got me wrong. I couldn't care less about the cost.
I however think it is shameful and disgraceful for enterprises with large incomes and most likely decent profit, like TL and this domain company, to make a lottery with the measly prize of USD 2000. I think it should have been done for free for all members of the site. I believe it would be a petter PR action. My logic is that TL is able to pay monthly salaries for those clowns on the CSGO team which are probably not less than USD5000 per month for a clown. So such a company should be able to give the community USD2000 for free and make good impression for itself instead of selling lottery tickets.
But that's none of my business I guess.

In all honesty, I like that you're defending the point, but trolls will be trolls and will never accept this anyways. No matter how much logic and effort you put into, people will just keep on disagreeing.

For me, this is actually the trigger to finally buy my own domain, since I have never put any effort into getting my own site.
Nice action!

You really think TL players earn 5k+ USD per month in salary?

he's probably basing it off the fact that skadoodle got a $20k signing bonus and of the rumors that TL players got a bonus

Same here. All my domains are from them.
However, I will register a new one with a stupid name just for the lulz and because I think TL, Namecheap and this promotion is awesome.

You also don't get a confirmation for entering when you buy your domain (I used the coupon code), which is a bit unsettling in a vague way :p

Just minor gripes. No biggie.

What email did you sign up with? I will have them manually check.

We will be emailing users on the emails they signed up Namecheap with as well as announce them on the site!

just PMd you my email. Thanks for the info - but yeah, my feedback would be that it would be nice to receive some confirmation as default (or even just to see the coupon-code on your order summary for the domain).

This is a really nice contest. I don't see why people feel the need to bitch. Might be one of the nicest contests i've seen on TL in a good long while.
