Can someone confirm this? It wasn't until Buster beat him that people thought "fuck man... I think this guy's human after all" Lennox is nothing. Nobody. He waited till Mike Tyson got old and then knocked him out coz Mike needed money. Once his father died (Cus D'Amato) Mike was surrounded by money hungry whores and family members who abused his fame and took everything away from him. He's probably one of the nicest men ever. That's why he was so badly manipulated. I equate Mike Tyson to Michael Jackson in terms of his life's tragedy.

Lennox wasn't even on the scene in 1990, so that absolutely could not have happened the way you suggested. Lennox might have paid to not fight Tyson at a given time, but I'm pretty sure Lennox was his mandatory and he had a bigger fight to take at the time. He never really lost his strength, that's normally one of the last things a fighter loses is their strength. The problem is that once Cus, and Rooney died he lost his head. He wasn't the same fighter in 89 as he was in 86. There is a very clear progression of Mike Tyson through the years. When he was dominating he had incredible head movement, and upper body movement. He also had an excellent jab that he lead in with, which is what set up all those big shots he threw. Like a lot of big punchers, he fell in love with his power, constantly looking for that one big shot to put guys away. First his jab went, then his head and body movement, and eventually his ability to cut the ring. He was essentially walking around winging shots at guys, thinking he could KO them easily. Before the Douglas fight (which is the biggest upset in sports history, Tyson was a 52-1 favorite), he was partying constantly, not training at all, spending all his time living the Japanese high life (as the fight took place in Japan). He didn't take Douglas seriously in the slightest, which is what eventually lost him that fight (even though I think he was robbed, Douglas got a slower count than did Tyson, but it is what it is). Then he went to jail and was never the same again. In summation, it wasn't a loss of power that led to his downfall, it was a loss of all technical boxing ability that was his downfall.

I know I'd love to be remembered hundreds of years from now. I think it'd be awesome, to one day be thought of as someone great.

I am quite happy with my life as it is, I don't need to be in the spotlights (I just don't like it). I would never every want to switch with mike tyson. I don't envy tyson....look at him, the guy is broken, a broken man. He may have accomplished much in fighting but that's most likely the only part in his life he succeded. I don't know Tysons biography exactly, but didn't he retired and then tried to comeback, because he wasted all his money and his comeback was rather poor (I mean the later ones in 2003?2004). Then he was in prison, not only once... really fucked up life...and damn this man is stupid naive, how do you call it? PS: did you see his "I broke my back" interview?

He didn't just spend his money frivolously, he was robbed by a lot of people in a lot of different ways. He was far too trusting of the wrong people, and a guy of his was supposed to be doing his taxes, but he was keeping the money instead, leaving Tyson in serious debt. Naive is the right word, though he's wised up to things much more now, after he's been fucked over so much. It's incredibly easy to sit and talk about him from our vantage point, but none of us led the type of life that he did. Growing up on the streets in New York, with no father, and then being taken in by a guy, and taught about boxing, and how to fight. The guy was only person in your life you could guarantee gave a damn about you ever, and then he dies on you before you even become a champion, which is what he wanted to see most. The only other guy that you could trust, because the first guy said you could (Cus said that about Rooney) dies on you, and then you're taken in by the "sharks" of the boxing world, and led to believe that you're being taken care of when they're ripping you off at every turn. To come up from nothing-- I don't think he even finished high school-- and one day be the world heavyweight champion, and then have that all slowly taken away by greedy people. Tyson deserves nothing but respect for what he's done. He's not the animal he portrayed for decades (and if you really think he's so stupid, then you are the stupid ones, because you're the ones who bought into the whole show that he put on, and made him what he is today), he's actually a pretty smart guy (I've read dozens of interviews with him, and seen even more since his fallout, and he's far from stupid. He's not the smartest guy on the planet by any stretch, but he's far from stupid). He just has an incredible amount of issues that he's had to deal with in his life. That rant kind of went no where, but what I'm saying is to not judge the guy because you have no idea what he went through to get where he was. Was he an ass at one point in his life? Yes. Why? Because he was used and abused by so many people for so long, what more can you expect from him? (As far as him swearing at people and being angry. As far as him portraying himself as an animal, and an insane person, that was more a show than anything... and you know what? That show that he put on for so many years worked wonders, because love him or hate him, everyone wanted to see him) In my opinion the man deserves nothing but respect from the general public. He may have said some crazy things in his day, but he's no worse than a lot of the major stars in other sports, and he came from a much tougher place than many did. No, the Tyson - Sapp fight never happened. On December 09 2006 02:53 evanthebouncy~ wrote: Silly people tend to hang on one smart word for extensive amount of time. What would you prefer him to say, "I've fucked a lot of women," "I've had sex with," etc, etc, etc. It's just one word. He was an awesome fighter before he lost the fire to fight. And he hasn't had that fire for a long, long time. He says it himself. If he did, he would never have lost to Williams, or McBride.

Hmmmmm~ I read somewhere that he used to have pigeons as a kid too (or maybe a pigeon) o.O Also that they were killed by some idiot that he proceeded to beat up but eh, it wasn't exactly the most official looking site ever so who knows.
