Although this thread does not function under the same strict guidelines as the USPMT, it is still a general practice on TL to provide a source with an explanation on why it is relevant and what purpose it adds to the discussion. Failure to do so will result in a mod action.

You can't really change and form grown people. Most of them will always be stuck with whatever they believe and they will struggle and resist when you try to teach them anything new. That's just how most adult minds work, they believe they are "finished" and don't want to "be treated like children".

That wouldn't be a problem if we had a mandatory socialist school system in which their children would be raised by state institutions. Instead we have mothers and other family members staying at home to do the upbringing and even private muslim kindergardens and schools.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to park those people and their descendants in segregated neighbourhoods with 2 to 5 times the national rate of unemployment and little perspectives, with increasing repression being the main answer of the State to this situation. Problems like this are cumulative, when you do nothing for decades and let the situation rot you cannot be surprised at the emergence (or the persistence) of a counter-society/culture.

Immigrants move in, and when they do natives move out. You don't get to blame the state for a natural phenomenon. As long as you let large numbers of migrants into the country you will get segregation.

Yeah, I would have questions on this weird M5S movement...

Don't worry, ask Acrofales or other posters. They know everything about everything - healthcare, politics, society, history. You don't need Italian posters to be ridiculized by their amount of knowledge - just ask them directly!

Vladimir Putin hosts Marine Le Pen in Moscow

That's great, I guess after that 9,8 million euros he gave the FN three days adter they recognized the invasion of Crimea, Vlad has some advices to give to Marine in case she wins the whole thing.

Putin doesn't hide that his goal is to weaken and undermine the West. To me that simply makes Le Pen a traitor.

France. She is financed by someone who wants us weakened, is openly hostile to our interests and doesn't even try to hide any of it.

Oh, btw, Voronenkov, a former russian MP exiled in Ukrain to have opposed the Kremlin has been assassinated in the streets of Kiev in broad daylight.

The financing sheds a bad light on her. Being hosted by Putin alone is a pretty common sight for centre-right/right wing politicians (like Seehofer here). But we're kinda hardened to Putin-politician-relationships due to the Bromance of Schröder and him I guess.

So your best card to fight a nationalist leader who accuses others of betraying France is to say that... she betrays France. Not sure that turning her own rhetoric against her will work wonders.

It's not rhetoric that I want to employ against her but mere facts. A politician bought by a hostile foreign power is a traitor or I don't know what traitor means.

That being said, exposing the hypocrisy of her supposed patriotism might be a very good way to confront her. She is the only candidate that is sold to a foreign power, that's a bit paradoxical when you campaign all day long on xenophonic and isolationist themes.

Strip away the "Russia is evil and hates us and wants us to die" and it's little more than a visit to a country that isn't an enemy but isn't a close ally either, with whom she wants to foster closer relations. French-Russian relations weren't always as bad as they are since sanctions and they won't always be that bad.

Tell me LL, why do you think Putin coordinates and support far right parties all around Europe?

Because they're more friendly to him than the others. Don't look too much into it on an ideological level.

Bit of a worrying result for the EU. British opinion is perfectly in line with the EU average. French/Belgian/Italian opinion is much worse. The difference, presumably, is that the UK feels more detached (an island outside Schengen and the euro) and therefore less inclined to try to fix it as opposed to just getting out.

@Legallord
You can't be serious?
The far right wants a weak EU, Putin too because russia stands to gain from that so he supports them and most likely later will want some payback for his investment.

No need to make a conspiracy or anything else out of this, its really as simple as "qui bono?".

@bardtown: 6 out of 10 Eu countries? Whats with the others? Wtf, why would anyone ask this and not ask the full EU.

When someone is making promises to other nations to get funding to be elected, questioning their locality isn't the craziest thing. Especially when its to a violent autocrat like Putin.

Seriously?

So it's unrelated to him wanting the end of the EU and has nothing to do with his strategy to restore russian sphere of influence on his former satellites?

Putin don't support parties who are nice to him. He supports ultranationalists populist anti EU parties because it would be great for him if they won. Don't pretend you are THAT naive.

It is 9 EU countries, presumably deemed to be the most significant/indicative. 6 out of 10 Europeans in those countries think the EU is on the wrong track (as opposed to 2 who think it's on the right track).

That poll doesn't mean anything. I would answer yes.

I am extremely pro EU, yet i believe it's not working well, needs fixing and is "on the wrong track". The question is wayyyy too vague.
