He did 16 star (or maybe 70 star) on his stream once and you could tell that he knows what to do, but he was just rusty and out of practice. So even if the trick was new, he could probably do it just from experience. Doing it consistently though, is an entirely different question.

Well yea, this was back when he was running 16 stars, november 2011 maybe? The tricks I'm refering to were the very new tall tall mountain strats, and it was just shocking to see him do it after only a few tries.

The games themselves aren't really hard, and most of the glitching is just going out of bounds and skipping entire levels. This is nothing. You should see Darksiders. But, yeah, I agree.

Everybody stayed stone faced and the kid in the middle was looking around to see everyone's reactions.

Yeah, I felt the same with Amnesia yesterday and to some extent I feel the same with OoT. It's just glitching and skipping huge areas of the game. I enjoy the older game speedruns more just because you don't really have that. There might be some glitches here and there to help you out but you are still playing through the game for the most part and aren't just skipping huge parts of it. Like the runs yesterday, Super Meat Boy was way more fun to watch than Amnesia because you could tell the Super Meat Boy run involved way more skill and timing than Amnesia, where he was basically just glitching out the game hardcore.

Well, I enjoyed the Amnesia cast because the runner kept it entertaining and had constant commentary.

Even though there is a ton of glitching, you'll probably enjoy the OoT 100% run. The glitches used are pretty crazy and technical but the dungeons aren't *too* broken because all of the skulltulas need to be obtained (100% requires all skulltulas obtained, not 100 tokens).

In addition, pulling off those glitches is not usually, by any stretch of the word, easy. They often require frame-perfect execution to do. Finding them in the first place is a significant challenge as well.

I mean it took me close to 6 months of practice in order to finish my first MST run before wrong warp >.< Although I think that what makes OoT such a fun game is the fact that it is totally broken and allows for crazy things like wacky% or especially bingos, which I find to be the most fun to play even if I am mediocre xD

Though is it just me or is the atmosphere a bit more subdued haha? I remember Yoshi's Island where everyone was all clapping and stuff, but here, people are all somber lol. But WOW so fast. e: jk they're pretty happy!

I really wish there had been something like a Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 6 speedrun though, I wonder if Earthbound can properly take their place.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Chrono Trigger at Summer Games Done Quick (mid-year marathon by the same people, they did ff6 last year). The primary person who does those 2 games, and is amazing at them (Essentia), wasn't able to make it to AGDQ this year, as she's expecting a new baby girl =D
