one question:
Is ARNOLD metro?!!!
Man, Arnold Schwarzenegger used to eat metrosexuals in the morning for a pre-breakfast snack. He's not metro; he's the goddamned OAK. Bodybuilding as a sport, however, did not pass go--it went directly to hell. The bodybuilding culture has inspired more metrosexuality and more fucked up training methodologies than the rest of the athletic world combined (we're even including figure skating here on the metrosexuality part).
There are still some giants in the sport, guys who really train hard. But for every one giant there are a million M&F-reading, underarmor-wearing, gloved, closet-homosexual, gym-rat fuckwads hogging squat racks for their barbell curls all over the world.
It's like baseball: they days of the legends have passed away, and the days of the roided up, narcissistic assholes have arrived.

any questions? A few. First of all, why would you include a Military Press for pectoralis hypertrophy? But that's been covered already. Second of all, why do two of your three other "chest" exercises prioritize triceps and the anterior deltoid when he's trying to get a bigger pecs? Third of all, do you really know jack shit about bodybuilding? Every time I see a workout thread on this site, I do my best to ignore it because, when I read through it, I just get pissed. The amount of misinformation that goes into one of these boggles the mind. There are better sites to go to for your bodybuilding questions, namely: www.bodybuilding.com or even www.t-nation.comHell, I'm not a part of the bodybuilding community, but that shit's got to be a longshot better than fucking TL.net. But while I'm at it, I'll give you the basic BB path to a bigger chest as I understand it. Follow these steps: 1) Prioritize the upper chest: Start off your "chest" day with an incline movement of some sort like incline flies or an incline bench (just make sure to keep your grip wide enough to bring your chest into it). 2) Work the Bench Press heavy. 3) Add an additional exercise or two to finish off your chest. You want to get a "pump" going on. If you have access to a cable cross machine, I would go for it. You could also use heavy chest flies or declined dumbbell bench presses. If I remember correctly, decline dumbbell bench presses have the highest EMG numbers of any exercise in the pectoralis major. This is a good thing. 4) Go eat something. Or you could try plan B. It's only one step: 1) Quit being metro. Fuck bodybuilding.
Ok, in my school occasionally we do military bench instead of incline so i figured that the two were at least somewhat related.
Next you say that the things i listed are stupid (Incline, Flat, Decline) The only other chest workout that I even know is butterflies. I'm not huge into weight lifting however, I do lift everyday and I would think that my coach who went to college for these things would know what he is doing as well.

I think that if you're doing chest work-outs and you're seeing results in your arms rather than your chest, your form is probably off. Practice technique. You'll get more out of your work-outs in lesser time.
|
the best advice i could give you here is probably to a) do a flat bench press and b) use a wider grip than you are using right now
closer grip leads to bigger arm development, wider grip equals bigger chest involvement

1) If you're fat, you automatically are required to spend <half hour on treadmills everyday running, or the elipticals, and go to a bodybuilding forum about weight loss supplements. Noone likes bitch tits.
2) If you're skinny, start eating a shitload of food. In your cafe, you now get the "double steak sirloin." With extra mash potatoes. (That one doesnt rly matter actually I just wanted to say that.
3) Trod your ass into the gym, grab a 10 lb and loosen up your arms and chest. Then stretch.
4) Get on a flat bench and warm up, I always warm up with the bar for a few reps... more for form than anything. Then get some weighs on. Try to do like 4 sets of reps of 10 8 4 and then 3 or 2.
5) Same thing on Incline. Don't do incline/decline on the same day. Why? I dont know ... I've heard it somewhere. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt if you really wanted to though.
6) Go to the benches in front of all the dumbells. Get em out and start pumping. 4 Sets of like 10 8 6 and 4. Then do incline.
7) Get to the butterfly press MACHINE. Where you straighten your arms and have them at a 180 degree angle, and pull forward so they are facing forward. 4 sets of like 10 8 6 and 4.
8) Go to the cables and ask someone to help you do more butterfly-like exercices. It hits you more ... more balancing involved etc..
9) Your tris will hold your chest back if you ignore them. Skull crushes, close grip bench, single arm extensions, cable pulldowns, whatever you want.
10) I'd recomend muscle milk for protein. I love banana flavor. It tastes great and gave me the best results as far as the proteins I tried.

OK, you know what you're talking about, so I'll ask.
I've been trying to work out my chest for the past couple of months (before I was basically all arms and some running and abs). Until a couple of weeks ago I've only done a zillion pushups with every form from every position imaginable. But that's not the best for adding mass.
Anyways, I have dumbells two 40's and two 25's which before I used for curling. I looked on bodybuilding.com and sorted out the dumbell excercises and saw the dumbell decline fliers and bench presses (the difference is the fliers you put your arms further out so slightly more triangle motion?). Regardless, I don't have a bench. Is there anyway I can do the decline dumbell bench presses? And is 40 pounds in both hands (80) enough?
I experiemented and thought it worked when I leaned off a bed and put my head on my punching bag so my body is diagonal... but I really don't know.

Creating muscles is ok.
DEHYDRATING yourself to get better muscle definition in a bodybuilding contest is just sick. Just a remark about bodybuilding in general.
It's cool that you have a hobby and all but keep it sane plz.

Haha. You have no idea. I've seen documentaries on these things. You see them flexing? Well after their routine they literally collapse because they've been crash dieting for the past couple of weeks to a month.
It's awe-inspiring though.

That's the only reason anybody works out, if they tell you otherwise they're lying.
Physical strength is nearing useless in today's world.

Here's an excerpt from an essay Garrison Keillor wrote one time:
Useful Things I Can Do
Be nice. Make a bed. Dig a hole. Write books. Sing alto or bass. Read a map. Drive a car.
Useful Things I Can't Do
Chop down big trees and cut them into lumber or firewood. Handle a horse, train a dog, or tend a herd of animals. Handle a boat without panicking the others. Throw a fastball, curve, or slider. Load, shoot, and clean a gun. Or bow and arrow. Or use either them, or a spear, net, snare, boomerang, or blowgun, to obtain meat. Defend myself with my bare hands.
He went on to say:
Maybe it's an okay report card for a person but I don't know any persons... For a guy, it's not good. A woman would go down the list and say, "What does it matter if a guy can handle a boat? Throw a curveball? Bag a deer? Throw a left hook? This is 1993." But that's a womanly view of manhood.
Just something for you to chew on, pal.
