There are tutorials out there that can show you how to do it if you don't know already. It's a very painless and risk-free process, the only way you're going to mess something up is by flashing a corrupt image, or having the battery die in the middle of some steps of the process. Basically, if you have it plugged into power and you check the md5 hash of your downloads then you can always restore. The XDA Developers forum has everything android mod related, and lots of really great entry level content to help you get started modding your devices. If you're looking for Cyanogenmod exclusively, the forums over at cyanogenmod.com might be what you're looking for.

As far as I know, if you have someone with an iPhone sending group texts (through MMS), Android phones won't receive the message as a text. They'll receive the message as a email or something. All texts, doesn't matter what phone they are using. Had it updated and a new sim card added today. Sales rep was clueless and told me to send it in for a refurbished. I would rather explore more options first.

well looks like apple is targetting the big seller ones now. I remember reading on a Chinese site that samsung trying to differentate the note 2 by giving it sharp edges but also not too sharp or it will resemble the sharp design... not too sure if that was legit but yea, kinda sad that the patent lawsuit case is affecting product designs

It might just be the frustration of all these lawsuits, but to me, Apple has done its part in the modern world, made smartphones and digital music part of our every day lives, but they've been stuck for a while, especially with their handheld operating system. iOS works but, to me, it feels incredibly heavy when you're maneuvering it compared to ICS and especially JB. I'm looking forward to October to get rid of my iPhone in exchange for a Note 2. EDIT: On September 01 2012 14:45 Irave wrote: All texts, doesn't matter what phone they are using. I work at the service department of a big electronics store, and it seems there's some issues with the S3 which nobody really has any clue about what could be at this point. If it's a big problem for you, I'd probably get it refurbished just to get it out of the way, but there's no telling whether or not your next S3 will have the same problem or something else entirely. My guess is that most of the phones we get back have are due to software errors of different kinds, so someone proficient in tweaking with these phones could probably find a way around it somehow. Still sucks though.

Or do I need to be reinvited to the group chat? What about message history? They are gone right? As long as you're on the same phone number it will all get restored from your old phone, at least if your old phone was an Android. I'm not 100% sure if old messages get transferred if your old phone was an iPhone, but group messages will definitely still work.

I was wondering if you guys can help me out on the battery life. I have surfed a bit number of posts here and the web. I was wondering if there is anything more that I can do to extend the duration of the battery instead of having it to charge it everyday :/. I have turned off the gps/wifi etc... and turned down the display. Anything else that I can do that I am not aware of? Also any helpful tips (apps recommendation, consider rootkit? etc...) for a noob who just got into this? I like to consider myself an average geek who just happened to neglect this field a lot since I never thought I would own one thus had the mentality of "it wont affect me why should i care."

That said if you strongly suspect battery drain happening somewhere (strong hint being more than 10% lost overnight when you're not touching it) you can get an app called betterbattery stats. You can find it legally free on xda forums (Google it up) or give the author a donation and purchase the app on Google Play. The app will monitor everything that wakes your phone up and will save logs. You can post these logs on xda forums allowing a trained eye to scan them and let you know if something on your phone is misbehaving. There are other basic ways to try and prolong battery life but most of them are obvious, like keeping the brightness at a minimum, turning off wifi/gps when you aren't using them, or even turning off 3G (2G uses a lot less juice than 3G). Other basic app recommendations are SwiftKey (AMAZING keyboard, it alone has converted many friends and parents from iPhone to Android), and maybe the Opera mobile browser (the text reflow is the best I've ever seen). Lastly whatsapp is another great app that is basically a cross mobile platform instant messenger that uses Internet data instead of standard texting services.

It is indeed an incredibly keyboard, the layout is just so and the corrections and predictions are awesome. Unfortunately I use a lot of Chinese and SwiftKey lacks support for it, plus Swyping is rather fun though sometimes hilariously mistaken.

If you click on the side button, it locks the screen out but keeps playing the music and goes through your album. So now do you consider it your perfect phone? My only concern is that my hand is kinda fat so whenever i hold the phone to the side(short side of the phone) my fat kinda hits the touch key so I'll keep going back or turning on the menu when I don't mean to. off topic: Soo...I am looking at the spec of the new iPhone5s...what do you guys think of the claims Apple making saying it is going to be the best phone out on the market... Don't wanna turn this into an underground Apple hate thread...but seriously...they are no difference minus some very small hardware (the software is inferior to the android imo). What do you guys think? imo: I love this phone and I don't think it will get 1up-ed until Samsung releases their next product.

Iphone5 is gonna cost twice as much as a Galaxy S3 here so it's not even a competitive phone here. Only maybe for big screen haters.
