The most anticipated android phone of the year. After the massive success of the S2, the S3 has alot of weight to carry and many see it as the true competitor to the iPhone 5.

samsung and galaxy fanboy here(owner of S2)...let's see what they got. I'll prob get it if worth it, I won't lie.
edit: added the if worth it and does iPhone 5 even get announced soon?

iPhone 5 hasn't even been announced yet, how would it even be a competitor? What if the iPhone 5 has whole new capabilities in a phone that no one can dream of?

I just hope it won't really be 4.8" wide. That is too freaking huge for a phone.

Yes it hasn't been released yet but:
iPhone 5 = flagship apple phone Galaxy S3 = flagship android phone

I remember drooling over the S2 when it was first announced. Strapped for cash right now after spending it on a nice new PC. So I guess I'll have to pass on this one lol.
But I am guessing it's going to look awesome and I'll be jealous of people who'll be having it. xD

Keep it a same size as S2.

I'm not really seeing how this device is going to be better than the HTC One X. Specs at this point don't really matter outside of playing video games so...
Touchwiz and Sense are not any good when it comes to skins, neither company has a great track record when it comes to software support, and I've never really seen the benefit of OLEDs in a mobile phone (presumably this is what Samsung is going to use). Amazing black depth is always cool but if you're going to mess with the colour temperature/RGB levels to preserve the weak blue subpixels, what's the point? Most Galaxy S II screens seem to have an heavy green bias to me and it itches my OCD side because I know what a calibrated screen looks like.
4.8" is a ridiculous size if its true though its probably the right size if you're going to go full bezel-less. How are you going to hold a smaller bezel-less phone without touching the screen?

Samsung are great my household has 2 Galaxy S and 2 Galaxy S2.

i want the one with the bigger gbs

screen from edge to edge? that seems very cumbersome. it'll mean i have to hold my phone by the edge without any of the fingertips going over and accidentally press something on the touchscreen.

How likely is the s2 to drop in price when s3 is released? I somewhat regret having bought the Splus this month now

How is it any different if its touch all over than almost all over? Its not like you ever hold on the side with the screen on anyways..

phone noob : does quad core do anything for a mobile phone? =o

I really don't understand how you people hold your phones if you're complaining about it being bezel-less..

I hold my phone like I would hold a Nokia dumbphone: hand at the bottom and thumb on the side.

I'm looking to finally delve into the smartphone market after using old shitty phones for years and years, and am pretty much set on the Galaxy S2, but with the apparent soon-release of the S3 I'm not sure if I should wait. How much more will the S3 likely cost on release, and will it actually be available on May 3rd through retailers or sometime later?

You can pre order it with various websites if you want it as pay as you go, but if you want contract you have to organise it with whoever you want to get the phone conracted too. For me and my Vodafone contract they said they will contact me when they know when it is coming out, so as soon as Samsung set a date im sure i will get a phone call. Cost on contract for me will likely be £30-35 a month for 18months.
