It has numerous benefits. You get Google Now, which is pretty much Google's answer to Siri. I don't know what new features the Siri from OS6 has but Google Now definitely blows Siri of OS5 out of the water. It doesn't only act as voice recognition but also tries to integrate itself into your lifestyle; for example, if you search for a flight number, it will keep you updated on the status of that flight. It will keep track of your appointments and let you know the traffic is particularly bad on the way to the location and provide alternate routes. It will keep you up to date on the latest scores of any sports team you have recently searched. That sort of thing.
The other big bonus from Jelly Bean is something called Project Butter. Project Butter basically turbospeeds everything on your phone. Thought your phone was smooth before? It'll be even better after wards.
There are many other relatively minor updates but those are the two big ones.

Can anyone help? Use BetterBatteryStats to check your device Wakelocks (Partial and Kernel). That way you'll be able to identify the app or service responsable for Battery Drain. A common issue in the stock Jelly Bean ROMs is the Media Scanner going crazy (Keeping the device awake and running at full CPU capacity for long periods of time in background). You can disable it with an app named "Rescan Media Root" from Google Play. You will need to be rooted to do so tho. Give it a try and report back!.-
I just downloaded cm10 and flashed that instead of putting up with my phone heating up my pocket. It's good so far
BUT
Why does it take 3 and a half hours to go from 2% to full battery with cm10? When I had touchwiz it took about 1 hour and 42 minutes

Could be Kernel related, or again... an stray process of sorts.-

Flash will still run on any version of android, it is just no longer available from the play store and Adobe is no longer going to be optimizing it for the new OS updates. So its possible that at some point flash will be broken in android and it wont be updated with a fix but as of right now regardless of the version you are on it should still work. You just need to find and download the apk for it which should not be to hard just gotta search around, last i heard you could still pull it directly from Adobe website.

Just got the S3. Liking the phone overall, but one thing is really bugging me. When I uploaded some of my music to the phone, the album cover art keeps using the same cover for each artist regardless of having different album covers for different tracks. Is there any way to update this? This is the case for both the Google Play app and the Music Player app.
Also, maybe I am missing something obvious, but when I start playing a song in the Music Player app is there a better way to get back to the artist selection section without having to hit the Music Squares button? The bottom right hand corner button only takes you to the playlist that you are currently on.
I guess while we are on the topic, what music player does everyone else use on their S3?

Get the PowerAMP player. I'm not too keen on buying apps, but this one was worth every cent. It has a shitton of features which will puzzle you for a moment, but once you get the hang of it, you wouldn't wanna miss it and surely you won't want to use the built in player again.

I keep seeing the commercial where two guys touch their phone together and transfer a music playlist. All their hipster friends waiting in line for (presumably) the iPhone are super amazed and start wondering when the (presumably) iPhone will have that feature. My questions is: How is this a novel or even facilitating feature? Can't phones already transfer data though thin air across the entire globe? Seems more impressive than having to touch phones...

Unless I'm mistaken, there's no way for iPhones to do it. I'm not even sure if iOS allows you to download an mp3 from the internet. In any case it would require you to upload to a website, and give the link to someone else for them to download it from.

This sort of advertising targets the mass market. The mass market is generally very non tech savvy and are probably used to manually telling each other about so and so new song. They would think this is an amazing way to transfer music, not knowing that they can simply say 'check my Spotify ID for my play lists' etc.

Is it possible to watch livestreams through for example TL or twitch using a webbrowser with the S3? Do you have to install something to be able to watch it, or am I bound to use seperate apps to watch SC2 streams? (just rather use the browser...)

SO the us version of S3 is dual core... when will we get the quad core? Anyone know? I know they have it in SK with quad core and LTE...
|
Is it worth to buy S3 over S2 if I'm not that into phones. Price difference is quite huge in Norway (about 300$) Also wondering how much the phone cost is in the US? my friend is in Las Vegas, and maybe I could save some by letting him buy one for me
