I can't vote for Romney cause he sort of lied to about what exactly he knew about Bain Capitol. He did alot of dodging.
And Obama just screwed me with a 250-500$ tax increase every year-- the largest tax increase ever. Obamacare- The first time in American history the goverment can force you to buy a product. Scary times.

Wish we had Hermain Cain. Herman Cain? lol So much for this thread being closly moderated, when people can troll your posts and not add anything to the conversation. *Golf clap* Hermain Cain would of been a great leader. 1) He isn't a real politican. 2) He had great ideas. 999, lower taxes for EVERYONE, less government red tape, Working with the EPA to get them to help business find alternative solutions to help him them into complicance and protect our water and air. 3) He has expereince being a 'Leader'. 4) Unlike Obama,Romney,Clinton,Bush He never said a falsehood. (refering to his political works, obv everyone has lied at some point) Are you fucking nuts? Herman Cain would have had less experience or knowledge of policy than Palin. He was a joke candidate, like Trump. The only reason he was in the primary was to market himself and get a bump in speaking fees. Sheesh. Even Herman Cain knew he wasn't qualified to be president. Well what experience do you need to be president. Obama proved you don't need much. The standards for the presidency have been on decline- just like the rest of my country. Probably not a good idea to point out the lack of experience of one Candidate when the current seated president isn't any better (argueably worse as he never held a real job). Hah! Yeah, I think that democrats have basically forfeited the right to object to anyone's qualifications for president by nominating Obama. With regards to Obama specifically, his inexperience shows most in his absolute failure to spearhead any kind of compromised legislation with republicans. Views are too polarizing from both parties, there is no compromise from EITHER side, only hatred Republicans and Democrats have alot in common- we only take about what makes us unique/different. All humans are 99.999% alike, we fight and kill over .001%. No, that's not it. Apart from the obvious fact that we are more diverse than that, we generally fight over things like power and wealth. Both in politics and on the battlefield. Edit: And to expand on that a bit, because I'm sure you wouldn't understand otherwise given your rethoric; Republicans and Democrats have widely different interests and views on how wealth and power should be generated and distributed, both by the state and otherwise. I don't believe they're big enough to be irreconcilable, but you're running a two-party system so it is what it is.
2 party system is the underlying problem, and there is nothing we can really do about that. Which is why after 350 pages of discussion on the topic I doubt a single person has actually changed their stance on who to vote for. People who vote for Obama simply hate Romney, and those voting for Romney hate Obama. No matter what little "reason" and "facts" we use to justify our positions, it will just be overlooked by our overwhelming bias based on our fundamental beliefs. I see no purpose in this discussion at all for that reason, but hey I am probably just overly cynical

We're in the middle of the worst kind of asymmetric warfare, which requires changing the rules.

Lying is a prereq to be a politician, there are very rare examples that fall outside (ron paul comes to mind) not really possible to know for sure, so that is a meaningless reason to base your vote on. Just assume that everyone in the political realm distort the truth and you are good to go.

I don't understand my own country. Am I the only one who feels bragging about getting revenge is worthless? I don't care if Osama is dead or not. It doesn't change the fact that once Clinton repealed the Glass–Steagall Act the whole U.S. economy has turned to shit after 60 years of prosperity. If the people would focus on who has better ideas rather than who is a republican or who is a christian, we might get a decent politician once and a while who is actually capable of changing for the better.

Also forgotten is Reagan’s own embarrassing propensity to just make things up. Reagan was a dunce and a fabricator. One of his most famous assertions was, “Trees cause more pollution than automobiles do,” and he maintained, wrongly, that sulfur dioxide emitted from Mount St. Helens was greater than that emitted by cars over a 10-year period. (In one day, cars emit 40 times what Mount St. Helens released in a day even at its peak activity.) In 1985, Reagan praised the P.W. Botha’s apartheid regime of South Africa for eliminating segregation, a blunder then-Press Secretary Larry Speakes had to correct a few days later.

I figured I would put this here since it the first thing I thought about when I read your post and it gives a small humorous synopsis for those too lazy to check Wikipedia. If anything modern media has made modern politicians WAY more honest by my estimation.

Reagan wasn't the super-conservative that republicans paint him to be. Reagan was involved in one of the biggest proportional tax increases in american history. Not sure how that fits in with the "cut taxes or go to hell" policy the modern GOP platform is about. It's amazing really, at the level of ignorance, stupidity, and the two-faced antics.

He's popular because he was the first neo-con, from my understanding. So he's the first president from the current republican party.

He's popular because he was the first neo-con, from my understanding. So he's the first president from the current republican party. Wait, wait ... You have worked for a republican politician and this is your answer for why Reagan is revered?
Reagan is revered because 1) he was infinitely better than Carter, and 2) Reagan projected big ideas and a vision of America that no recent president can match.
EDIT: and 3) Reagan LED, both domestically and internationally. Love him or hate him, the man spoke with absolute moral clarity and conviction.

Holy shit. I really do not understand the fetishization of Ronald Reagan by conservatives. Holding a single man up as a "perfect embodiment" of conservatism is a strange thing....
I'm not a Reaganite. You do realize there is more than one point of view in the Republican party? Hell, I may not even be a true Republican, I only chose this side because it's the only party that wins in my home district. I'm more of a moderate, personal liberty, and local government powers person.

Right, I already knew about your heretical disposition. However, I would think that any republican politician and his staff would understand one of the most important (if not the most important) historical figures in the party and why that person is important to the party.

What confuses me is that in today's world it was thought prudent to openly run an extra-judicial detention and interrogation site for foreign nationals in the open. Giving "suspected" terrorists all of the rights and due process afforded by our domestic judicial system is just a bad idea. We're in the middle of the worst kind of asymmetric warfare, which requires changing the rules. It isn't, and it doesn't (or at least not in this regard). Terrorism existed before 9/11. Sacrificing the rule of law and democratic principles in the current fight against terror is the opposite of a good answer.
