but this can be accredited to the fear of getting accused of being the cause of the accident rather than a good Samaritan I am not Chinese, but I have lived in China for six years. I literally had the above taught to me when I was there. In this scenario, the mother might come and out blame the person next to her toddler. That's one thing. But when a person gets knocked off a bike in a traffic accident, and the person is hurt, but still conscious, it is very likely that he will blame anyone that gets close to him, even if he knows that the person was innocent.

But since the PengYu case accured in Nanjing (PengYu , a young man who helped a old woman for kindness, then lose the case and pay money to this old woman), everyone think twice when they saw someone need help. China need the Good Samaritan Law .Good people shouldnot pay for his kindness.

Those cowards are completely impotent which is a huge relief in regards to international politics. I don't really know how to report, so I'll just quote this for the mods. I know emotions are running high this the thread, but that's not an excuse to generalize and bash an entire race of people.

This happend in front of the Store of the family, maybe the parents have been busy for just 5 minutes? Dont judge people before you know all that happened in that situation.

I'm sure I could only call police and ambulance and then pass away if I were there, that's all a kind person can do in China if he wants to protect himself... I'm very sorry for this incident but I'm saddly sure this incident will NOT be the LAST...

I didn't come here to judge anyone, person or culture, I just think this is terrible.

I can't deny that and I fully agree that these incidents happen worldwide, but if something of this brutal degree and graphic nature happened to a young child in the US, I would seriously hope US citizens that see and witness it would act upon the situation accordingly rather than not even glance at the dying child. Its an innocent young child for Christ sake! Social dogmas are different and more harsh given the situation at hand in China than in US, therefore there can be an explanation to the behavior in the video and less likely to occur in the US (given the same situation).

If your question is simply "should you allow toddler to be unsupervised in the streets", then my answer is of course not. I never leave my child alone outside, ever, and I live in very safe Iceland. But I don't know what's customary in China, how people think and act over there, so I can't say if it's wrong to do it over there. My gut says yes, but I just don't have the information to back that up.

Really sad, but it isn't just China, that's for sure. Please, please don't be judgmental (that goes for anybody in this thread!)
