To sum it up:
The Sun is about a million times bigger than the Earth. The solar system is about a trillion times bigger than the Sun. The solar system itself is made up of atoms and empty space, mainly empty space. Most of the atoms in the solar system belong to the Sun. But there is still much more empty space than there is occupied space.

What is the wrap? Is it chocolate or kelp and if you do know, where can I get it? And what is that orange thing?

This is kind of a bullshit "fact" because it relies of defining "solar system" to mean "the zone of space occupied by our entire solar system" rather than "the shit in our solar system." It's like if a warehouse was mostly empty, but contained a bowling ball and a bunch of BBs. Sure, the bowling ball and BBs are pretty insignificant in volume compared to the rest of the warehouse, but they're a lot of the mass inside it (especially if the warehouse was a vacuum like the solar system.) But the bowling ball is still massively larger by volume and density than any of the BBs or all of them put together.

Some images there. It's an air rifle/pistol type that is common in the US. More potent than an airsoft weapon, but vastly less powerful than a real one. It hurts to get hit by one, but it's not likely to do real damage unless it hits your eye or testicle. More powerful ones can drop rodents.

You'll shoot your eye out, kid.

Looks like chocolate and some kind of orange marmalade or something.
Or mango. Could be mango.

The comparison is to put to scale the size of the solar system though; the empty space is the point of it. Here's the sun, 1.3 million times the size of the earth, and yet it's still a tiny spec in the solar system.

Dumb forum etiquette question.
I just joined. Is it appropriate for me to make an introduction thread in the general forum?

Thanks! I haven't been on a forum (unless Reddit counts) in a long time, so I'm a bit rusty.

It's good. TL is a nice forum because its pretty heavily moderated, which means you just act like you would in real life and you're fine. Internet trolls don't last long here. But reading the 10 Commandments is strongly recommended.

To help you think about it, you can fit every single planet in our solar system in the distance from the earth to the moon. it would screw up things royally, but it works. the sun is a lot larger, but even in that scale it's ridiculously small compared to the actual volume (m^3) of the solar system.

I also have one of these: Hasn't there been some rule along the line of "don't sign your posts, we see who you are"? I thought it was in the 10 commandments, but i'm unable to find it. is my mind tricking me?
