I have short nails right now. But they grown I cut them once a week or every other week.

But Honestly, as a Man. I find fingernails to be fun when grown. Then again I'm the type of guy who wishes he had Claws.

As for earrings. I woudn't wear them. I just never saw the appeal.

But back to nails, scratching shit is for real men.

There is no point in your argument. Women are always talking about hygiene anyways. They're so finicky about clean things, so you shouldn't practice hygiene since it's what women do...You obviously didn't get my point. It's dumb placing arbitrary objectives for how to be masculine when they're illogical and inconsistent with each other. Do you ever question your beliefs or do you just go with what everyone else tells you? You have no reasons for your beliefs.

What's that talk about inconsistent to each other? it's highly consistent when you're talking about males and what they do regarding what's masculine and what's not, look at the polls.

That's fine then if you don't want to look at your own points. You said you don't shave your legs, but why then do you cut your hair and shave your beard? What's the difference? If you reply with another tautology, well, that's not an argument.

We do these things because the majority of women prefer them e.g. most women prefer men with short hair, clean shaven/no facial hair, short nails, no earrings. It's to attract women.

Do you consider beards to be feminine? Do you think most men consider beards to be feminine? Do you think that characters with beards are portrayed as unmanly? Unsightly, sure. Ugly, sure. Brash? Boisterous? Unattractive? Single? Sure. Unmanly? Nope. If masculinity is just about attracting females, well, we'd think leonardo dicaprio and the backstreet boys are the manliest men that ever manned on the planet of men.

We cut our nails, our hair, beards and don't get piercings because that's what's demanded of us in our society. It's not about attracting women. A masculine image is dictated by society as a whole, not one aspect.

Can't argue with that although I wasn't suggesting attracting women is the only reason.

Earrings are cool, long nails bother me but only because it makes me so scared they are gonna break - its like the effect of nail on chalkboard except visual.

I couldn't help but be repulsed by those long nails. I mean, to each his own, that's fine but I think Jinro's illustration of nails to the chalkboard describes it well. I also don't like long nails on women either so could just be an upbringing thing or just me!

Ick, I don't really like long nails on guys or girls. I guess they can occasionally be pretty or glamorous as a fashion thing, but I think it's a really creepy feeling when someone with long nails touches you, even if it is your girlfriend. Short nails also stay nice and clean without effort, aside from cutting them regularly.

And lol on you people saying that the "manliness" is going away. "manliness" have always changed and been somewhat like fashion. If i dont remember wrong, in the old Egypt the men wore makeup and earrings but not the lady's.

I like to keep my nails trimmed and short. I can understand them being long if you play guitar or something, but I don't see the fashion in it, it's not like black nail polish or anything I reckon.

Regarding earrings, I used to wear studs in both ears, because I liked the look (I have medium-length hair so you can see them if my hair isn't too messy). I actually still want to wear some, but haven't gone around buying some (off topic, anyone know where I can find plain studs that are all black? I haven't had any luck lol)

I usually relate long nails on men to coke fiends.
I had an earring as a teenager till I ripped some other dudes one out in a fight, didn't want it to happen to me

haha, lol. Why must we be so insecure about our self? If we would have live then(egypt) we would have thought that that was the manliest thing to do.

Manliness isnt really a thing, and is seen different by different people. I just think we all should accept what any man think is manly, and just let him do it
