I used to be a huge fan of DT in my teens, but grew out of it really fast. They've got skills, you can't deny that but in the long run skills are not enough to make a great band. They have some good pieces but again - just because the songs are complicated in their structure and quite long doesn't automatically make them good. Some amazing songs from the top of my head. Frank Zappa - Muffin Man. Pantera - Floods. Dave Mathews Band with Warren Haynes - Cortez The Killer (live cover). Primus - Tommy The Cat. Down - Stone The Crow. Stevie Ray Vaughan - Lenny. Not in any particular order. I'll just limit myself to these random 6 that came to my mind cuz I would end up writing a whole page of songs eventually.

PT is prog rock in general, but this song isn't. This is just 4 minutes of beautiful music, with amazing lyrics and an emotional guitar solo.

And there is a problem when those genres are hiphop, metal or electronica, since in those cases usually the rest of the world doesn't like your favourite song at all, or find it even listenable. edit: case in point, the post below me which is practically all metal that no person not already "in the know" could like. Read the OP dude. "to help people find those gems in artists with massive backcatalogues or those they wouldn't normally listen to." and "try not to name popular songs people would already know." Get over your musical elitism. And just because: Blood Swamp by Sunn O))) and Boris - genre FUCKING IMMENSE

+ Show Spoiler + Really upbeat feel-good music, and the sax is just amazing. Caro Emerald (Dutch jazzy pop singer/songwriter): + Show Spoiler + Currently one of the best female singers in the world, if I'm honest. Really nice music. Justice (they are pretty well known, but their remixes are even better than their solo material): + Show Spoiler + Other great remixes of Justice are MGMT-Electric Feel, Lenny Kravitz-Let Love Rule, Klaxons-As Above So Below and U2's Get On Your Boots. I just love Justice's basslines :3
