This song is seriously alone at the top in my book.

=) I thought of putting that here-- decided on metropolis instead. I kinda like In the Presence of Enemies and A Change of Seasons too, as far as epics go.

Stone Gods - Magdalene Street - Live Acoustic Version - Genre: Rock (lulz, I don't go by genres, no idea really)

While The Darkness were dearly missed, Stone Gods were a good thing to come off it. Too bad it was over far too quickly. I just love Dan's guitar.

Sorry, but Dream Theater and Kansas are notoriously bad bands, mostly attractive to people that enjoy prog trappings over actual substance. Again, the issue with this thread is there's no quality control. Everyone's free to link more songs than you can ever listen to, while they might be completely awful; so actually it's pointless.

Well, this is pointless, since a lot of people listen to just a few genres. And there is a problem when those genres are hiphop, metal or electronica, since in those cases usually the rest of the world doesn't like your favourite song at all, or find it even listenable.

edit: case in point, the post below me which is practically all metal that no person not already "in the know" could like.

That's exactly why I had people put genre's with songs. If you really hate a genre then you can not listen to them.

Also Mr Storkie you should be shot... Although admittedly who doesn't love Bieber fever....

I'm gonna complile all of these I can find in Spotify onto a playlist and put in on ShareMyPlaylists when I get a free moment.

You're obviously either trolling or you don't know what you're talking about lol

CAFO - Animals As Leaders - progressive metal

On Impulse - Animals As Leaders - progressive metal as well but much softer than CAFO

They have a crazy good guitarist. CRAZY good.

*shrug*, the fact music critics and communities exist prove you can have a discussion about musical quality, I would say. And then it's not so far-fetched to have bands like Dream Theater be perhaps not so 'good' as you might think they are. You're free to like them, though, but then, you're free to like Lady Gaga as well. If you're curious about Kansas, read this site for the case as to why they might be not good.

I agree with you about this, but you should not be making this argument in this thread.

Well, I know it's annoying. Nevertheless, this thread was just not going to have any discussion - and I know it's fun to link your music, but this thread could go up to a hundred pages and you couldn't even tell whether anyone listened to any of the music in it at all. And this is a result of both the concept behind this thread as well as the existence of all the diverse music communities that just don't really get along.

So I'm curious why you're here. Do you have any suggestions? You've made three posts, all of which complain about this thread, none of which suggest anything. You aren't obligated to post here you know.

I've avoided going more for the "hits" and instead focusing on great songs hidden in large catalogs, or stuff from artists that you simply won't hear anywhere.

I've linked to youtube instead of putting the videos in-post so that this post isn't huge.

Sleep All Day - The Rural Alberta Advantage - Indie Rock

A Shot in the Arm - Wilco - Alternative / Indie Rock

Remember Last Time - Avi Buffalo - Indie Rock

Schizophrenia - Sonic Youth - Noise Rock

Milkman - Deerhoof - Experimental Rock
Bonus kickass live version

Slow Nerve Action - The Flaming Lips - Alternative Rock

Stuck Between Stations - The Hold Steady - Rock

EDITED with videos and added some more from the recently played since i was about it.
I realized after the 15th song that my "recently played" list has no shortage of songs so i stop here.
I apologize if some of them are too famous, but i just have no idea, I just kept Radiohead and Strokes out of the list
I'm a fucking dreamer, man! But I'm not the only one.
