I've had Spotify for awhile now and with so many options for artists, I spend alot of my time listening to random artists. Often my favourite songs aren't the well known ones or in the top five.
I figured I'd start a thread where people could list amazing songs from artists, either those they love, those where they dislike the artist but one or two songs are great anyway, but to help people find those gems in artists with massive backcatalogues or those they wouldn't normally listen to. Rules
Please post songs in the following format:
Song Name - Artist - Genre/Type of Song (Doesn't have to be accurate but just to give an idea) - (Feel free to put in album if important)
Try not to name really popular songs people will know unless they're specific versions i.e. Born to Run, isn't so good, but the performance on the Barcelona live DVD is amazing so that would be fine. Here are some of mine
I Wish I Knew How It Felt To Be Free - Jools Hollands & his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra - Jazz/Pop/Instrumental
Music Box - AJ Croce - Piano Ballad
We're Already There - Wallflowers - Rock
Fiddlin Around - Dierks Bentley - Country
Lawyers, Guns & Money - Warren Zevon - Rock
Quarter to Three - Bruce Springteen & the E Street Band - Detroit Rock - Hammersmith Odeon London 75'
For Windows in the Paradise, For The Fatherless in Ypsilanti - Sufjan Stevens - Pop
Islands in the Steam - Constantines, Feist - Slow Ballad

The very fact that you have a Warren Zevon song restores my faith in humanity ^_^
Though personally I prefer Things to do in Denver when you Die.
I normally listen to heavy metal or pop punk, but to me, this is hands down the most moving, beautiful song really ever. Enough to make a grown man tear up.

Red House Painters - Have you forgotten (the acoustic version)
Hey noone else might, but I'm working my way through all of them. It's helping my music collection at least.
One more by the boss.
New York City Serenade - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - I honestly have no idea, I'd guess jazz folk rock, but it's more epic than folk implies.
The Glass Prison - Dream Theater - Progressive Metal/Rock (Album 6degrees of inner turbulence). I have seriously never heard such a masterpiece except from classical music.
This song is seriously alone at the top in my book.
Well, this is pointless, since a lot of people listen to just a few genres. And there is a problem when those genres are hiphop, metal or electronica, since in those cases usually the rest of the world doesn't like your favourite song at all, or find it even listenable.
edit: case in point, the post below me which is practically all metal that no person not already "in the know" could like.
