it took several alliances, several tries to finally defeat him. they exile him to an un-industrialized island, and in like 5 years he has an efficient iron mine and an agricultural system developed. he leaves the island and lands in france. the troops sent to capture him (like 100 v 1 or something ridiculous) make him their leader and follow him to paris. when he met the troops after landing in france he said something along the lines of, "I am and your general, if you've come to kill me do it now..." it's just badass to think that after it took so much to defeat him, he just patiently created the infrastructure needed to leave his prison island, met the troops sent to kill him and told them, I'm in charge let's take paris! and he had one of the 3 greatest victories in military history. only 3 battles have been complete slaughters i guess, and he was responsible for one.

![]() Only was held back by Hitler's incompetence. In that regard, Hitler actually did the world a favor by not letting Rommel reach his full potential

I have tremendous respect for the man. All he required was a simple tribute of earth and water but that bastard Leonidas had to spit in his face. Even the great Leonidas fell to this God-King though ![]() Semi-Sarcastic if u can't tell Idk how xerxes gets in there he failed pretty hard in his greek campaign. He literally didn't have any major victories in that campaign that were close to worth it, he inherited and squandered what darius left him.

I know it's obviously that he wasn't the greatest of all time, but IMO he is very underrated as a leader for his country since everyone looks at his cons. Not to berate your opinion, most of the things you mentioned made Hitler a great politician and not a great general. If he had let his generals who actually had military knowledge order the German military, then the outcome of the war could have been very different. On many occasions Hitler's incompetence as a commander cost the German army dearly. One of the most notable occasions this happened on was Stalingrad which was the beginning of the end for 3rd Reich

The politics and intrigue are almost completely due to tallyrand not bonaparte, he had very little to do with his escape.

Right, 'cause God forbid there be fights starting that are completely unrelated to the ones finished (in whatever fashion). Honestly.

He basically invented "guerilla warfare" Kind of hard to take on the whole roman empire when it didn't even exist.

Yeah, sure. It was right to let Hitler annex Austria in 1938. It was right to let Hitler annex Czechoslovakia. It was right to support munich agreement, because peace is always better than war, right? Tell people of Soviet Union, that their war was wrong, because, you know, they could just dance with flowers and no one would get hurt, right?
