A year's gone by, and many pretty pictures have been shared and traded. Here's to twelve more months of that delightful activity!
Once again, we’ve got some ground rules to follow. HOWEVER, the list of rules has been updated. Lemme repeat that, so you guys can see it:
THE RULES HAVE BEEN UPDATED, SO PLEASE CONSULT THE LIST AGAIN!
1)Post your sources for your desktops, please! It does no good to anyone if that awesome desktop you posted doesn't come with a source! If you've forgotten the source, use a website such as TinyEye to identify the source (or to find a higher resolution of the image). That extra 30 seconds you take to post a link to the source means something to everyone else, so there's no reason not to.
2) Remember to use the "Upload Image" function on the top-right corner of your posting box when posting your wallpaper (as displayed in the following image). If you don't, your image may be cut off and will not be fully displayed. The Upload feature resizes the image to follow TL's format. It's easy to do and makes everything more legible. + Show Spoiler [Upload Image location:] +
3) When posting multiple wallpapers in a single post, please put them in spoiler tags to save space. You may have a bunch of desktops that you think are super cool, but it gets drastically less cool when people are forced to scroll down for five minutes to see other posts. Common sense, people.
4) Many people like to use the Rainmeter program to customize their desktops. While it's not required, if you have a particularly awesome Rainmeter setup, it'd be great if you explained how you got that setup, since odds are you'll be asked about it anyway. For those who don’t know what Rainmeter is, or would like to use it for their own desktops, please follow this link to reach the Rainmeter website.
5) This is the big one. Many people have shown distaste at some of the female-focused wallpapers in previous threads, due to the suggestiveness they present. Most of the complaints stem from wallpapers with anime or manga girls on them, and I agree that some cross the line. However, I feel this also applies to the various wallpapers with real-life women on them, since to discard the anime while preserving the real is hypocritical at best. Therefore, I am declaring this and subsequent threads to be loosely SFW. This means that any wallpapers that exhibit excessive bare skin (defined as bare breasts, asses, or any other sort of pornographic exposure) or risqué poses (defined as convenient censoring of the genitals, blatant panty shots, or similar things) are forbidden from being posted.
This doesn't mean that you can't post girl wallpapers; I'm not a prude by any means, and I'm sure that all (most?) of us are adult enough to handle stuff like that. However, please show some restraint for what may and may not be appropriate. It's fine to post girl pics, but ensure that they aren't overly sexual. If you do choose to post those images, but cannot determine whether yours are acceptable, take the time to be courteous and use spoiler tags. Best to err on the side of caution.

I wouldn't call that visual style "new", I was using it in 2008 or 2009. Great job replicating the style on the icons tho.
The clock and CPU/RAM/network graphs are from the HUD.vision theme, Corner calendar at the bottom right, Gmail reader at the top left, and I can't seem to find the plugin for the WinAmp player at the middle right, but it's barely functional and mostly there for teh prettiez now.

I found it at 1920x1200, but I'm at work and can't access the page to link it. You can find it by google image searching for Bayonetta and set the size to exactly 1920x1200. It should be at the bottom of page 8 of the results.
It looks like a warped version of that scene from My Neighbour Totoro where they're waiting for the bus, and the Catbus shows up. Actually I'm almost certain its supposed to be a twisted version of this.
10.10 is treating me reasonably well. The only install issue was my perennial wireless issue, which took 30 seconds for me to fix (was expecting it, so had the winxp drivers and ndiswrapper ready lol). The next mini project is for me to get SC2 working on it.

This is my background. Source is in the thread with all of the other TL wallpapers. It's feeling a little empty. Anybody have some suggestions for nice Rainmeter .ini's to add?
I used a lot of different skins to get my effects: Dark_Rainmeter\TimeDate for the clock Battery by eightydee (with personal modifications to optimize the code) LargeCalendar with code modifications I wrote Network Monitor and WiFi monitor Modified 'recycle' by jsmorley Total Control is my dock and WMP skin, as well as a lot of the computer monitoring skins Dock Icons are all from Lucid White icons list, with the exception of the StarCraft II icon, which I created.
The anime is 'Scrapped Princess'. It was one of the first animes I've ever watched ^_^. Found the image on www.desktopnexus.com if anyone is interested. Also - don't mind the icons, too lazy to sort them atm. EDIT: This is where I got it from

Finally got my monitor I ordered from boxing day for a dual setup. There's a black bar at the bottom of my second monitor's screenshot because eyefinity doesn't support different resolution monitors apparently.

Custom-made them myself from scratch for that specific wallpaper. They get prettier if they're tailored like that, but I can't reuse them on other wallpapers :/

So after a bunch of fidgeting around with Rainmeter and Rocket Dock (thanks guys!) I managed to come up with something I like, but still needs some work.
Hard to read some of the stuff on the right side but doesn't matter too much to me.
Instead of icons for my games I have them under the Rocket Dock as words which I think looks kinda cool.

For those of you who cycle through wallpapers, how do you do it? I'm pretty sure Windows 7 has a built in function for it, but I have two monitors with different wallpapers on each. I use DisplayFusion to put a different wallpaper on each monitor (because I can't get Windows to do that on its own), but only the Pro version of DisplayFusion (that you have to pay for) will let you put up two separate wallpapers as well as cycle. Any other software out there that you guys use?

Perhaps my wording was unclear. The new restrictions prohibit pornographic images (such as bare breasts, open shirts, and panty shots), but do not forbid girl wallpapers from being posted. Just make sure that your image isn't going to cross the NSFW line, and you'll be dandy. Common sense should dictate what NSFW implies. If you're in doubt, use spoiler tags.
However, like I said before, NO bare breasts / asses, NO open shirts barely covering the breasts, NO "convenient censoring". Those are the big 3 that I'm concerned about.

Correct on all three. Maybe I should include these in the OP to better illustrate the extent of the rules.

I was working on the rainmeter setup I have at the top left, but I decided to scrap it in favor of something smaller less obtrusive, which is what I've started at the bottom. It still needs a lot of work and I'm far from finished (barely started, lol). I hope I can finish by the time the next desktop thread rolls around.

The Anime is Neon Genesis Evangelion, but it looks more like from a spin-off. If you did know it's NGE and ask which spin-off, then sorry I don't know.

I've updated the rules one more time; the fifth rule has been clarified to the best of my ability (with examples of what images are and aren't appropriate), and all other rules have been given more information. I have sort of a random rainmeter related question.
So in the BlueVision skin there is a sound that it plays when you start up rainmeter. In this video, it shows this guy changed the skin so it plays sounds when you click on things Anyone have any idea how to do that? I was fiddling around with rainmeter but I'm too noob to be able to figure it out :/
Clean and pretty! The three wallpapers are from a set by j3concept, but I have no idea where I found them. I've changed most of the rainmeter widgets in some way, but no really big changes except for the HDD meters (which originally came from the Taranbeer skin). Oh, and the extending start menu is an Ultramon feature that I've found invaluable for work!

I just thought I'd post to share my appreciation for this monthly thread. For the last 4 months I've been stealing wallpapers from this thread, and using RainMeter whilst siphoning inspiration for my configuration from the various awesome people who frequent here.
I was originally planning on waiting until february until i change my theme a bit but then i got bored and then a little carrier away. If anybody wants the walls, i'll dig into my pictures folder later. i'm not sure...where they are right now... all of them from wallbase though, so easy to find i guess
showing some 3rd party apps. First one is vista switcher. second and third are components of the multi desktop program dexpot last is just rocket dock but the icons are so pretty <3

Ive reviewed your "rules" and decided to "err on the safe side" and use spoilers for my backgrounds as some other posters expressed concern over some images that were incredibly mild (at worst). If you dont like girls, or have heart conditions do not open these spoilers. My screen resolution is 1680X1050 and the images are the same. A few from my harddrive that I think follow the "rules" for this thread
Got a whole hard drive full of jpegs ive gathered over the years, just a few. Dont think I have the source for these ATM , however If you PM me I can email you the images.
