I easily get addicted to games like Risen or Morrowind. However, that only lasts for about one or two weeks. WoW, EvE or a generic Asia-grinder would definitely make a huge negative impact on my life, so I try to stay away from it.

That shit sucks you up quick, and at a certain points there's pretty much nothing you can do about it. My suggestion to anyone trying to quit any kind of addiction is COMPLETE ABSTINENCE from your addiction. None of this trying to slowly wean your way off of your addiction slowly, it simply doesn't work. Kicking my various addictions required an admission of defeat, for me it was that I could never use drugs succesfully, nomatter what. I would suggest the same admission of defeat for anyone trying to quit any addiction. Trying the same thing over and over again (trying to moderate an addiciton) and expecting different results is simply insanity.

Then I played it for 2 hours and was hooked, after 5 years of playing it on and off I finally got sick of it. It's definitely the most addictive thing I have ever tried. (Not sure that says much because I've never smoked cigs, done meth, cocaine, heroin, or any other hard drugs so maybe its not THAT addictive). One thing is for sure, I will never touch an MMO again. Mh I still dont get it. I played wow for way more than 2 hours. was at least 2 months. But at no point did I feel like I couldnt stop or desparately needed to continue or anything. The only thing I really enjoyed were those massive battles on that big icy pvp map, those could be really fun.

say what you will but your urge to smoke pot is the same as your urge to eat a certain kind of meal, while smoking for smokers is like quitting masturbation..

I'm taking like ~50 MG of Amphetamines a day (speed) illegally. Roughly double normal perscribed dosage. Sometimes I'll take upwards to 100+ at once. Gotta stop . Shits gonna kill me. And the crashes are gawdaweful. Don't get WoW addicts though. For me, it was really easy to quit once it was getting out of proportion, and not only do I not relapse, I find it harder to start playing again. I mean, I'd have to work my self up from the bottom again.

Some people just get addicted to certain things, there are millions of people who can play WoW just a few hours a week and not feel the constant need to keep playing, you're not alone by any means. It all comes down to the personality of the person playing. If you're someone who likes to finish something once you start it, and has trouble letting go of something you already put a lot of time into, then you're going to struggle with WoW because once you've invested time in a character it's very difficult to just put all that work aside even if the game stopped being 'fun' and logically there's little reason to keep playing. I found quitting WoW harder than most games for this reason, I would never say I was addicted though, having known and lived with someone who was a gambling addict I can tell you that real addiction is a lot worse than what people call 'addiction' when speaking about WoW. I think the worst thing about WoW is that once you quit you have nothing to show for the time you put in. I mean every hour I put into WC3 and Starcraft has given me skills which have translated to SC2 and will carry over to any RTS I ever pick up and play, which is a great thing and I don't regret any of the time I put in. However 50 days played in WoW gave me almost nothing, the $300 I got for selling my account on EBay was a joke considering the work I had put into that game. Like many people have said in this thread already, WoW is the first and last MMORPG I will ever play.

Many athletes including the number one swimmer of all time smoke pot. Pot also doesnt affect your ability to do well in school. Having said that, the only addiction I have ever had trouble with was pot. I have quit a couple times before, but I always relapse. Pot is just so much fun. The only reason I want to stop is because of anxiety. I have been smoking for 11+ years. 8 years everyday, except for the periods where I had quit. I guess I was mildly addicted to cocaine for a year or so, but i found it fairly easy to stop when I really wanted to stop, so maybe I wasnt actually addicted. I think I just did it so much because it was pretty much free for me. I was also addicted to bw really really badly when I was in high school, but after 3 or so years of mass gaming I got bored.

We all know (many of us from first-hand experience) how addicting particular video games can be, and so we understand how difficult it was for you. Congratulations again!

Come back next year and tell us how you have never touched a blunt in that period of time.

Are you implying I can't quit smoking? You sure are basing that off a whole ton of information. Also, I've quit harder drugs in the past, and haven't touched any in years. Please don't make assumptions from thin air, it makes you look ignorant. Because see, you don't know me at all =)

I've played em all, I've played countless and countless of hours. I've been battling the addiction for long periods of time, and sometime I just give up. That was a few years ago, now I'm alot more in control of my life. Don't let entertainment control your entire life boys n girls, it's unhealthy ![]() You might end up losing your girlfriend, friends, family, work, social mechanisms and your objectivity ![]() The worst was definitely World of Warcraft... That game is a menace to public health and societal liberty and freshness. MMO's are generally worse, because it's the game that never EVER ends. There is always something to waste your time on, which is dangerous. The adding of achievements and what not of the console culture has not helped this one bit, only to get much much worse.. Think about it when you turn on your computer and fire up the games.. ![]()

It's gotten a lot better, I mean... it's been 6 fucking months, but I still think about her a whole lot and like twice a month I get these really intense feelings of sadness and stuff. I think it's some kind of addiction, since my brain tells me that I can't live without her, when I clearly have no trouble doing so. Wow well described bro, I know that feeling all too well..
