This means that they can choose to have access to a 170 damage unblockable which is faster than some lows in the game.
That has very little to do with why Hilde is broken, actually. Kinda silly, but it's not a huge deal. For those who don't know, Hilde's cool trick/gimmick is that she can hold down A and/or B and charge up moves, which are all kinds of powerful except you have to hold those buttons down. Those big shiny launchers and flaming sword swipes you might have seen are her charge moves.
With button binds, you can charge up those moves while using the move as usual. This is already kinda silly. Also, with button binds she can break grabs despite charging the button that she would break the grab with. She loses the charge when she breaks, BUT without binds she would have to release the button (and get stuck in an attack animation) then push it again to break throws- pretty tough given that IIRC the throw break window is like 15F, but most command throws are like 8-12F break and some are a 1-4F break. However if you can just keep holding that button down and break throws as usual without having to worry about that, then she is just as good as anybody else at throw breaking, while being better than everybody else at having frame-advantage-launcher-to-ringout-combo moves.
I just put the short version because I figured most people won't give a fuck about Soul Calibur and they're not gonna click it.
Also I can't even be bothered saying why the shit in this thread is retarded because it's not even worth explaining to people who will not understand.

Exactly. i really wanted Justin to win for that, but mad props to daigo. It was such an epic match
With counter-picking: If the tourney rules allow you to then why not? Obviously Daigo could also have counter-picked, he just chose not to. its accessible to both characters and both can adjust to it. Doesn't take away the skill from any of them.
only watched the first 2 minutes of teh interview, but I find it hilarious that Ume is saying rather little / being polite and subtle, while the translator is adding in TONS of details + superlatives that weren't voiced.
Though Ume mentions something about a magazine interview so it's possible the translator is pulling words from there too lol.
Terrible translator of a completely different nature than the ones we get at Bilzz events for korean.

And where are the 3rd strike finals?
I think Evo will be releasing them as part of some IGN insider thing in high quality that's a subscription based service. Other than that, probably not
I've heard so much stuff about evo from the people that went, everyone came back talking about how fucking amazing it was. Fuck being broke ;_; Saving up for next year!
Also, I gotta note the lack of sagat near the top. What happened to the fabled US tier whoring? Also wondering if that had an effect on how outstandingly entertaining the matches were heheh

I think it may have to do with the fact that everyone and their gramma practiced the shit out of 'vs Sagat' that the top players (all whom didn't really pick him) prevailed the imbalance.
Anyways, here are the shitty videos I was talking about:
i posted here on thursday saying i was going to try to make regular updates,
that didnt happen, obviously
it was pretty insane and so crowded, so much going on all at the same time that i wasn't able to really do anything. that coupled with no wifi in the convention hall, and my phone being dead for the majority of the weekend, because i forgot my charger.
i apologize again but it seems like the coverage was pretty good
one thing i want to mention though is that
on saturday during semis i was on the floor infront of the stage, and an asian guy sitting like right next to me was checking teamliquid on his iphone!!! i didn't get a chance to talk to him because there was other shit going on, but if hes reading this, whats up, and awesome.
also i didn't read this whole thread, but there was one point on the finals day, where someone lost ( i can't even remember what game, but it was before the hdremix/sf4 finals started, where people from the crowd yelled "Play Starcraft!!!"
which i thought was awesome..
one last thing to note, tony/tom cannon mentioned that the turn "ggpo" or "gg" in general, were coined from the fighting game community, i was almost positive that gg originated with the RTS community, but its been so long, i dont know who would even know.
if you guys have any questions about shit that didnt happen on the stream, i'd be happy to answer anything i can.

Ehh if you check that interview, Daigo claimed that when Wong picked Rog that he was pretty confident because he's played tons of boxers in Japan. But that wasn't the case when he started giving rounds, and eventually that close 1st set.
IMO he had a lot of time to adjust to Justin's Rog, but it was intense watching both sets and was exciting watching the match develop.

He said GGPO originated from the fighting game community, he didn't say anything about GG. People were saying GG since the early days of online gameplay, regardless of genre. I do believe that "good game, peace out" was coined by fighting game players, especially if they were Marvel players, those guys are so ghetto haha. Who was it, MadBooFace that was up there helping to commentate during the matches? While the other announcers are talking about strategy and matchps, he's up there on the mic saying "YO, WANNA GIVE A SHOUTOUT TO BROOKLYNNNNN" hahaha
Well Good Game is just a staple of sportsmanship ever since sports were invented. Obviously you can't type GG on sf games and you don't need to because you can say it.

Wish I could make that playing sf all day
lol is all that cash from money matches after the tourney there? That's pretty cool.
They played money matches in someone's room during the Blazblue and HDR finals I believe. He won like 600, + 1st place in the main tournament = 7.4k, so daigo made 8k in a weekend :O
As for Bang the Machine, from what I heard, there were only like 200 or so dvds made and the only way you can watch it is to go to evo

haha that was yipes
man had me dying when they were smashing the DC and yipes with a look of sheer disgust "man this is very disrespectful", "feel like i lost my child on stage man"
