played it once and combo'd 95% of it (sliderbreak because way too much tension on pen thumb) with >99.5% acc and that's probably the best 200bpm stream i've ever done in terms of stability and timing

I also agree that the health bar in general is mostly useless. Especially since HP drain isn't even constant between maps, so a pass on one map can't even be compared to a pass on another since they may have wildly different HP drain settings. Practicing a map you can't pass without nofail actually seems a bit dumb to me. You'll build up muscle memory of the part you can play, but since you get kicked out of the song each time you fail, you'll never learn the rest of the patterns, so once you actually survive whatever kills you the first time, you go from being comfortable with the patterns to having no idea what's coming up next. I would actually warn against spending close to 50 tries on the same map however. If you still want focused practice, try finding 5 or 10 maps in that difficulty range that have very different kinds of patterns, and practice all of them randomly, rather than retrying the same thing so often. Randomized practice is better than focusing only on a single map. Focusing on a map will give your skill a short lived boost, but randomized practice will lead to longer lasting gains in skill. (Note: I'm quite biased against retrying maps in general, not everyone shares this view, so keep in mind that any advice I give regarding retrying is at least a bit biased. However, that last point about randomized training leading to longer lasting skill gains is scientifically proven.) The way I see it now, is that osu standard hp works on a basis of added health per note (possibly negative by a note not hit, or a 50), countered by a 'drive' towards dieing. So more intensity means that you can die a lot faster, but also gain health a lot faster. At higher difficulty, one might even die because there aren't enough notes to counter the negative drive. This sometimes makes easier parts harder than hard parts. In mania (I'm not sure about this part), it seems like your health declines after a miss (or some suboptimal score) and you will die after a certain amount of misses compared to hit notes, resulting in a net health decline equal to the total health bar. It seems to me that this system gives a more intuitive approach to living and dying, because easy parts are actually easier than hard parts. In Mania I also don't really see the need for a health bar in general, but I do appreciate it's properties as I understand them compared to those of osu standard. | ||

and the easier difficulty (iirc it was worth ~200-240 with ~95-99% acc) 220bpm and about 0.5 - 1 AR lower than i'd be most comfortable at the spacing feels a lot like koigokoro DT but the AR and bursts choke me when playing it without relax | ||

-------- 220bpm cmon! :D :D will take some practice to be able to read the timing properly without relax. rrtyui and i think one other guy lost FC on the map when it was unranked, but WWW earlier when i was playing posted a new score, with 2x 100 and 1x miss. It looks like he could FC it with the highest acc, rrtyui had a lot of 100's even after practicing for a bit on it Exgon got a touchscreen laptop 2 days ago and he just did this: lol | ||

the AR is just too low for the patterns you implemented. holy shit they remove every fun thing about this map. I'm not even a huge advocate of low AR but 9.5 is seriously completely fine | ||

In addition to this rule, we should get rid of all stacked notes. Besides, even rythmical variation in maps is completely arbitrary, so one has to effectively guess when to click. So i propose the only maps that get ranked from now on are maps with djpop like patterns, or constantly repeating rythms. That way, we can judge rythm by the spacing, if we need to judge it at all. It's a whole lot more fun. Who needs reading anyway? Osu might even be used as a cure against insomnia after a while. What a thrilling prospect. | ||

On March 03 2015 04:21 prototype. wrote: AR 9.5 is considered low now? It's apparently considered low for 220bpm on another subject, i kinda feel that the hit window for a 50 is too big. It's a huge extension from the 100 window, and it's not usually necessary at all, but it causes a lot of problems since you can't hit circle number 7 until you've hit number 6 in a stream for example, or the hit window ends. That results in either using very high OD (8.5 - 9.5) for spaced streams approaching/passing 200bpm, or dropping the entire stream and dieing if you make a slight mistake and the OD is lower. You can somewhat compensate for it by lagging behind the stream slightly and hitting stuff later than the ideal timing, that makes you much less likely to note-lock due to various issues but it makes spaced streams harder than i feel they should be | ||

214-340pp (for 95-100% acc FC) but i gotta clean up my high AR streaming a lot before that's a possibility. +20pp for maintaining acc with hidden (maybe that's not so bad on ar10.33) Streamline Prism FC! unusually low accuracy on first half then unusually high on second half, averages out to probably something i can't easily beat on od9 without lots of practice There's this map that i can get >200pp on if i just hold combo for like 5 minutes (it's not really hard for me) but i failed it for 40 mins straight breaking at 1k+ combo often. My left eye is twitching now ;.o Here's like the 10'th break at ridiculous combo. I got 1k combo on my first play, 1.4k combo on my second and then i didn't match that again for half an hour :D It's just silly to repeat these maps past a certain point, not particularly challenging but there is sooooo much potential for silly combo breaks when they go on and on and on and on and your focus starts to slip. Especially if you're tired at all, god.. in my nightmares at this rate i will be forced to retry these maps for hours after being awake for 10-15+ hours map link: http://osu.ppy.sh/b/437377 I guess the day HAS finally come where most of the time i'm not worrying about breaking on the streams, yay! :D Also 200pp happens so much easier than it used to, but i still have ~246pp play from 5 months ago in my good niche (od9 jumpy SS) that will probably still be in my top 10 for maaaaany months to come. I'm getting closer with other styles of play though. I don't particularly care about PP but it's quite telling if absolutely all of your top scores are streamy maps with no jumps, or jumpy maps with no streams for example. There are 500pp plays to be made on streamspam maps if you're good enough at them. | ||

https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/2856855 Lol got a random nomod fc. Not even mad about the acc. https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/2857353 Okay, this time I'm a bit mad about the acc, but at least I got my first Skystar fc. By the way, looking for some fun dt maps 220-250ish bpm ~6 stars or so and unranked 6+ jump maps. Any recs? | ||
