If you are trying to fc a song where you are getting 10+ misses you are doing it wrong imo. I generally don't attempt to fc a song unless I get 1-2 misses on a random try, and even then I usually attempt a few more retires at most. In my experience whoring out the songs leads to immense frustration, and rarely will you actually get the score you want.

If anyone's looking for some mania maps, go here. I just uploaded a batch of 84 maps (well, I'm uploading right now). They aren't labeled, but some of the have relatively easy difficulties. These are better than playing osu maps converted to mania.

well, there's 2(3) ways to look at it - either, you can retry with a stone face and keep up your game play, or you get frustrated by silly misses and just do worse the more you retry (or your hands get tired if you've been playing a lot)

i personally only have issues retrying long maps because there's a higher chance i'll mess up somewhere - on short maps, i can easily go 30-40 tries or more in a row if i know i can get through it.

I often have my best plays when I have played a song ten times then take like a week break, then come back to it. Somehow I just innately understand the map better and the movement come easier to me.

Muscle memory. Constantly playing non-stop will not only make you tired and frustrated but also prevent you from learning the song(s). Giving your arms a days rest can do wonders.

I wouldn't call it muscle memory, it takes a lot more than a few plays to make something as specific as a map embedded into your muscles memory. Common patterns and jump distances is a different thing entirely though.

Yeah. In rhythm games with a more restricted pattern system (such as mania) muscle memory for each pattern is relatively easy to learn. In osu since patterns can be placed anywhere on the screen its more about being able to identify and respond to the common distances or timing patterns (ex. triples).
