In pure skill points, possibly not.
Will you be able to blow their ships up? Yes.
Will you have the same game knowledge, tactical appreciation and skill? Depends on you.

Sure you can whore missions or wormholes or plexes or something and make a ton of money to buy an alt. Now you have an 80m SP alt that you didn't grow up with. You don't know the pros and cons of the ships you are flying, what you can engage and what you can't. Plus my character is almost 8 years old so you'd still be behind on SP
Put this way EvE isn't a game where you need to catch up. You can make your mark on the universe even if someone has more SP or money than you. What you need is to use the grey matter between your ears to reach your goals, no matter what they may be.

But other than that, totally agree.

You'd have to be really slow to gain game knowledge as slowly as you gain SP past the first few million. I'm wasting my SP in minor dps increasing skills that don't change the way I fly my ship in the slightest.

It had to start somewhere and today, it was here.

We got onto TS and found a pirate baitbrutix on a hisec gate. As I went for it it put a longpoint on me and the rapier decloaked 200k off and warped to the brutix. Naturally I overheated my mwd and hit 29k as the rapier landed. So... they have a rapier... The rest of their fleet quickly landed on the gelf gate and was mostly neutral.
This made things interesting, especially given the rapier was neutral on a hisec gate. The challenge had changed from how to fight their fleet (now vulture, canex2, harbx2, cerb, brutix, drake, onyx, rapier, loki, zealot, sacrilege) to how to stop them running away. Karah and I formulated a plan. We warped to the gate at 50k and opened up with overheated dps on the rapier. Realising that while he could probably get a web on us he probably couldn't survive the attempt he jumped into gelf. That left us with just the rest of the fleet (and gate guns) to contend with. We nanoed out and they started trying to get warpins on us. A disruptor/web armourcane got a particularly good warpin on Karah but didn't really think it through because Karah can actually outrun an armourcane while disrupted and webbed. We responded by hulksmashing it and then decided that the cloaked rapier and the warpins they were getting were probably a bad combination. 70m kill on the cane. :D

Ive played EVE for a few months, I loved it, but I liked playing in a group. Im installing the 14 day trial now.

Wooohoo, scheduled a remap into Evemon, and saved 15 days. 79 days till fully Drake Ready, with drone skills included. Tempting to start looking at what to play with after that now.

A webbed nano drake can very much not outrun an armor cane.
+ Show Spoiler + All 5 + heat armor cane speed : 1500m/s All 5 + heat linked nanodarke speed : 2170m/s Put any shit web even 50% webbing and you notice quickly that youre fucked
So the problem was not the guy not thinking it through, it was the guy being shit.

So the problem was not the guy not thinking it through, it was the guy being shit. because he doesnt have to turn around first and accelarate while i have to decelarte from 2.1k first after being webbed. And because hes in anzac training corp and probably has like all 3 or max all 4 skills ~.+

Oh good, I hadn't earned that dubious honor yet until making this smartass comment.

I'm pretty sure this is lies and slander, as by my professional investigative work, I've deduced that there are only rifters in The Hatchery's hangar.

I thought so too, but apparently Gem had fitted up a bastard hurricane and was flying it around (he usually flies a drake) so Kwark paid him 55m to put the cane in the corp hangar and stop flying it. Then Karah stole it.
