We have moved to lowsec. This has several implications for you new guys, particularly regarding our mentoring scheme. Previously, when we lived in emol (highsec), your mentor would provide salvage so you could make money. Unfortunately, missioning isn't a big part of lowsec and most of our old missioners are out killing shit, thus we will have very little salvage left for you to make money from. We are going to adjust our mentoring scheme in several ways so that you can still benefit from it. The new scheme won't have free salvage, but hopefully we'll make up for that with education - you will learn to pvp from the very beginning. Here is the basis for our new mentoring scheme: 1) Your mentor will continue to send you money for basic skillbooks and still be your main source for answers when you have questions. (But do continue asking in corp if your mentor is afk.) 2) Your mentor will send you money to buy starter ships. These ships will be frigates (Rifters, Vigils etc), and perhaps a cruiser or two if you can fly them. 3) With said ships, you will join us in lowsec on our ops. You will learn by the fire, die by the sword, etc etc. You will be thrown into the thick of the fight very early. 4) When you sub, your mentor will send you up to 200m depending on how much he has sent you so far. Important thing to note: previously, trialees would farm another ~150m in the 21 days via salvaging so they can buy a plex with ingame money at the end of their trial period. Because there is very little salvage now, it is much harder to farm up the necessary isk to buy your first plex with ingame cash. If you can quickly figure out another way to farm isk, then by all means do so. If not, I am afraid you may have to bust out your credit card for your first month of play, at least. As our ex-CEO put it, previously we were teaching trialees to pve; now we're teaching them to pvp. Please ask any questions in thread, etc.

Get alphaed by bs, die to sentry guns, die because you get to near to stuff, get shot at by Kwark and most importantly have no clue what is going on nearly all the time. Feel like a boss, because you still have 99% efficiency on the killboard. On a related note: we lost 5 frigates in our current campaign, 3 of them were mine. Yesterday I had my first clutch tackle (imo), on a falcon, and instantly got jammed. I hate falcons. =(

This might be a bit of a strange question but hey I'll try it anyway: EVE, despite its age, seems like pretty much the ultimate MMO in a lot of ways. I remember some time ago there was an interview with a CEO from a danish company in the newspaper. He studied to become a director of a company at day and then at night he was the CEO of a big organisation in EVE online that he described as a fulltime job. When I think back at it, one of the things that was really interesting, that also some people in this thread talk about, is the internal EVE politic between alliances/organizations and so on. Almost like a world with laws, systems, politics, action/reaction and so on in a futuristic world. So to my question: is there somewhere I can read about some EVE history, especially regarding 'todays EVE', something like who's CEOs and what do their decisions mean and do to "the World....of EVE" written in a language that even I, an outsider would be able to understand? I know its a lot, but reading through all of these posts really make me interested in the whole political aspect of the game rather than playing the actual game. - Wall of text, sorry, but that thing just turns me on! ^^

http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=9056917 HAHAHA edit: jed had a domi probed down in half, so we told him to get ready to fleet warp us once we jumped into system. Jed mentions that he thinks someone else was probing the domi as well, so we start racing. Unfortunately Jed was new so he fucked up and warped alone in a ship without a point. Kwark being Kwark started raging on him as the domi warped out while we were all in warp. About 30 seconds later Kwark suddenly stops mid-rant and shouts LEGION and immediately rams it. He had warped in and uncloaked himself. We get points, and cheer as we kill him. Obviously the killmail makes us twice as happy, and Kwark forgives Jed. Rofl.
