Okay so that caracal fit made me "wtf" and I'm trying to figure out why. I don't know enough about the game yet to know if my original "wtf" reaction is justified or not. So questions:

Why the heat field? On a loldari cruiser your heat resistance while running an invuln is actually pretty good, I mean heat isn't super common is it? Plus not really a big weakness in the shields of a loldari cruiser.

Why only one shield extender? 3 active shield tanks seems a lilttle excessive granted you'd probably only have two on at a time but still.

The launcher bay "wtf" is more just cuz I'm OCD and like my missiles to launch at the same time and since they'd have different rates of fier they'd eventually fall out of sync. So not super important but still "wtf"

1k missiles of just one type on a caldari cruiser and it's not kinetic? "Wut?"

Shield Boost Amplifier? Besides giving you a horrible Heat hole in your tank it seems like just slapping that heat into another invuln would probably give you a larger boost in gain even with diminishing returns seeing as the second invuln field really doesnt lose a lot of effectiveness. You could then change that to a shield recharge relay if you have cap. Giving you more resistance and a faster recharge rate.

The thermal and kinetic hardeners are pretty much unnecessary. The shield boost amplifier is totally useless as there aren't any shield booster mods in that fit. The shield power relay too could be replaced with a bcu. In med slots, you should have mwd and some sort of warp scramble mod instead of that shield boost amplifier and the two hardeners. Then you probably have place for another shield buffer mods. With the mwd he probably could escape. But we don't use caracal for pvp in our fleet so yeah it shouldn't be in fleet anyways.

I'm impressed with all those battle reports. It was pretty much exactly what happened. I'm sure the mistakes you made will unlikely happen again. I thought I was in trouble a couple times during the engagement on the gate. It got hairy real quick.

HappyFT sir, you are a very good e-war pilot. You threw a big monkey wrench into my plans and you evaded some pretty dicey situations. In my opinion, you saved your fleet from major losses. The hurricane was going down and you got a jam and saved him. Not to mention the logistic ship was perma jammed during the second jump thru on the gate. I also thought you had me at the belt, I'd equip a warp disruptor tbh....even on e-war ships.

Thanks for bringing a fight, much respect.

I've been flying a caracal a bit lately, so I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in, but KwarK feel free to call me and everyone else here an idiot.

There are 3 glaring problems with this fit: #1 you don't fit standard missile launchers on a Caracal -- either assaults, heavies, or heavy assaults. #2 you need MWD in pvp, period. #3 every tanking module except the invuln is wrong.

This is my current Caracal fit, which is pretty sub-par since I have no missile skills whatsoever, but it's in the right direction I think:
Highs: 5 AMLs w/ bloodclaw (kinetic)
Mids: 2 large shield extender IIs
2 invulnerability field 2s
1 MWD
Lows: 2 ballistic control systems
Rigs: 2x anti-em, 1x anti-thermal

This fit gives me 81 dps (including 2 hob drones), and a very respectable 27K EHP passive tank. Gemini's fit has 48 dps (incl drones) and 13K EHP. You can swap out an invuln from my fit and put on a scrambler instead and make it a bait/tackling Caracal that can still soak up a lot of damage. And of course if I could, I'd be fitting tech 2 AMLs and tech 2 ballistics...

You could also go the active tank route, which admittedly is better as it has a much lower sig radius (shield extenders = bad for your sig radius =T) and even has higher EHP, but you just gotta make sure you're not taking more than ~150dps or your tank will be broken too fast...

Generally we don't active tank in fleet because neut will kill your cap and the booster cycle doesn't go fast enough. Another reason is that we have logistic too. Active tanking is an option for soloing though, the cyclone, myrm and domi are popular option for active tanking.

Active tanking a caracal is never appropriate. Its also a awful ship for fighting anything not a frig hull.
During my three days off coming up I'll make a ton of fits for any ship you guys want. Send hyey your requests and I'll post good ones.

There is no reason that brutix lived :p. Besides inexperience anyway.
Python is garbage, number 1 advocate of getting rid of it.

I'm a player that played for maybe a month or two years ago, then sadly had to quit as life happened

Just wondering, how easy is it to get back into EVE after having quit for a long time? Can I get my old character back? Of course, even if I can it'd be hard for me considering that I belonged to a pirate corp, was a criminal and probably don't want to be a pirate again unless they changed it (being a pirate sucked imho, there was never any prey).

This is something that's going in the right direction. Should pretty much be a deterrent vs T1 frigs but that's about it.

The rest of us jump back to Gyng, and this time the Guardian is red to us, indicating that he's repping the Brutix. But that's okay, since I slam them both with ECM, and I don't miss a single jamming cycle, keeping them permajammed. We're chipping away at the Brutix down to 75% armor, but the Hammerhead 2s are starting to rape me, so I warp out and try to warp back in asap.

Somehow, I have no idea how or why, but the Brutix manages to warp out, and the Guardian jumps back to Onga. I think our tacklers switched to point the Guardian? (mistake #2) I tell everyone to spread out and cover the exits, as the Brutix is still in local, while I warp to zero to the only belt in the system...where the Brutix exactly is, at zero. I panic, and I immediately warp back out -- major mistake #3. I should've immediately told everyone to warp to me while I permajam the Brutix, and repeatedly bump him to prevent him from aligning and warping out -- doable, especially since he left his drones at the outgate. But I had panicked, and we lost the opportunity as the the Brutix docks up, and the fight is over.

FUUUUUU

I don't know how, but we let the brutix kill slip by us twice. Live and learn =T Damn it!

We had no FCs on and mistakes were made that should not have been made. It seems like a complete failop from where I'm sitting. Words are being had.

Fights were higly uncoodinated... no fc atm and most pilots were < 1week.

Also, caracal fit.... boost amp? but no shield booster?
