I seem to get static noise from eve sometimes, doesn't happen when I'm tabbed out or anything but when I let a youtube video run in the background with eve on I hear it there too, does anybody else know a fix to that? I googled it and there is more than one thread about it and even one or two fixes, but none of those apply to me. EDIT: It's not gamebreaking, just a bit annoying, if everything fails I'll just mute eve in the soundmixer (the ingame options mute doesn't fix it), though most people seem to play without sound anyway, so I guess it's not such a big problem.
Do you mean static in place of or alongside sound effects? If it affects your whole computer (based on what you said about youtube, it does): sleep and then unsleep your computer, your sound card timers may have gotten fucked up. If that doesn't work, it could be an electrical issue or an interference issue if you are using speakers. See if there is physical damage (baked-in bending or cuts etc.) on the line(s) that run(s) out from your sound card.

If it's just EVE, I have no clue.
It is actually just in EVE and I'm not even the only one with that problem :< Seems to have been introduced with some odyssee update when they fucked around with the sound (trying to improve it apparenlty). Oh and it goes alongside the normal soundeffects. EDIT: Youtube videos or other stuff is only affected when I'm currently in eve, as long as I tab out the sound is normal.
Sounds 100% like a timer issue. Not sure how to fix it if EVE is causing it. Send a report in to CCP with the details about your sound card.
/edit - Actually, something just occurred to me. Last I remember, when EVE opens it also takes "ownership" of all your sound card's channels. It may be that your sound card has a partial circuit overlap (the electric field from one circuit is affecting/interfering with another) from circuit board damage. If that is the case, when you use all your sound channels, you'll hear the two (or more) overlapped channels interfere with each other electrically, which will sound like a buzz or a series of pops/clicks that could sound like static.
If you haven't cleaned your PC in a while, there could just be a buildup of higher-than-average conductive "dust" on the circuits which can cause a similar problem.
If you have another program that forces ownership of all or many sound channels when in use, try to replicate the result you get with EVE. Programs that come to mind are things like Planetside 2 (will max out your sound channels very quickly in combat). Anything that has lots of independent noise/sound effects going at once will do this. If you can replicate this behavior, it is almost certainly your sound card at fault.

Well it seems to come and go randomely when I tab in and out, kinda weird. I'll try updating my sounddriver later, maybe that helps, if not I'll send a report. EDIT: For clarification, it's always fine when I'm tabbed out. Right now for example was fine when I just tabbed in. (Maybe it has something to do in which tab I am in Firefox? jeez, this is confusing..., I'llsee if something happens when I put on music on the windows media player) Music is fine, used music below

Do you have EVE sound muted when tabbed out? See my previous post's edit if that is the case. If you can still hear EVE sounds while tabbed out, it sounds like a timing issue caused by a bad assumption on a dev's part.

I hear it when I'm tabbed out too, this is the first time ever that I hear the static sound though and my computer should be relatively clean since I cleaned it like... a month ago (I was bored). Funnily enough it only seems to happen with youtube videos, atleast from my current level of knowledge it seems like that. EDIT: Once it's there it seems to persist though, even if the tab with the video in firefox is closed EDIT2: AAaaand... it's gone again. As I said, it's not a big problem, just slightly annoying when I do something tedious and boring in eve that still demands my attention and listen to some funny stuff in the meanwhile thanks to the yootubes EDIT3: The intensity changes too from the times I go in and out, not sure if that's important though.
Is Drone Navigation still best left at IV or is it good to V it now? I vaguely recall something about Ving it resulting in less DPS because it'd overshoot optimal or something.

Was wondering about this as well, I think there was a thread in 54 concerning this.
I found, however, that I no longer have access to 54.
