well, risking to sound stupid now, I am sure that there are better conversions but how easy is it to get them? In my mind if those conversions were easy to get to and do they would not be good anymore because anybody would do them.
so while generally speaking you guys are right that most EvE players are either happy with the status quo or just plain lazy ( I count myself to this type). I always get the feeling that when you guys post here that you asume that every EvE player either has the funds or the necessary training to do what you guys do, which imo is not true for 90% of the player base.

People do very little research and are ignorantly satisfied with what they have because they are told by other ignorantly satisfied people that they are doing well.
Karah's quote of 400m/hr or so was in a highsec system perfectly and easily accessible by anyone who knew it was there.

Some of the stuff we do in PvP can be considered more difficult than the average EVE player can achieve (which isn't saying much). None of the stuff we do in PvE is in that category; everything we do PvE wise is simply a question of finding out what to do and how to optimise it. We don't have any special tools that help us learn these things that the average EVE player doesn't have.

haha I thank you guys for the answers, puts things into perspective, no doubt.
But you see, the problem is, other than the simple fact that I'm lazy, is that I really don't know how to make missions more profitable. I'm still almost a month off form being able to mount t2 large guns ( arties to be specific ). When I feel like it, I do some missions in my maelstrom, and barely field even 450 dps with drones ( and I really did put the time and effort into discovering a viable mission fit for my skills and funds). With t2 arties that would proly go up somewhat, but still it's nowhere near the numbers you guys put out there. Also, blitzing missions is not really an option with my current setup ( well to be honest I didn't even try but somehow I don't think my dps is enough for some of the touger missions ). Now, I was planning to save money for a mach some time in the future, and get the skills up. But I'm also in a dilemma because I've read that machs are going to get nerfed and marauders are going to get a buff, perhaps making them more effective at missioning? I'm not sure though, cuz my lack of knowledge.
Second problem is, where and how should I mission run to be most effective? I'm guessing it's lowsec, but I would really appreciate your guys input on my problem, I've found this forum to be more helpful than the entire eve community XD

t2 arties are worthless
Get familiar with ship stats and fittings in pyfa so you can avoid fitting ships like goblin does.

ah yes I'm training up for t2 ac's, using arties until then :D

I think your fit should still be lacking a bit. This was the fit I used a year ago and it was really cheap and my toon had all 3-4 skills and I have 590 dps without drones. If you use 1200mm arties, you still get 550 dps if you use faction ammo.

thanks, this is almost the same fit as my mael, xcept the rigs and arties instead of ac. I'm not sure which ones are better, tho I prefer arties simply because I can stay at 70 km and get easy kills, while taking almost no damage. But ac are somewhat faster, although in some missions there's alot of firepower on the npcs and getting close can get hairy

Machariel AC are like arties on any other ship for range so that's fine.

Isn't that maelstorm way overtanked for lvl 4s ? I am at 300 and it seemed fine so far

If youre just starting you should go safe and overtank it a bit to get experience with the missions and not lose a machariel every day, hehe.

I wasn't even there but I was the last time and the comms are awesome. You got Rekina trying to translate everything into korean because Gonrin speaks like 5 words english including "fuck falcon" and "shit".
