Had a rifter pilot ragequit the corp on my OP yesterday. When told to warp to gate he warps to gate then starts mwding off because a bomber decloaks. When I tell the fleet to jump through he goes "I can't because I'm not on the gate, the order was wrong" when the last order I gave was to warp to the gate at 0 and I'd said nothing since then. We subsequently explained to the guy that not only should he not be randomly doing crap when he's been told to be on gate at 0 (we needed him to tackle someone on the other side and therefore be able to jump when I said jump) but also turning your mwd on against a single bomber is doing the one thing that allows him to do anything more than scratch your shields. He then does the exact same thing again when another bomber decloaks, just minutes after the previous "never mwd against a bomber" speech triggering yet another "just sit there and fucking follow orders, wtf is wrong with you, take your hands off the keyboard" speech. In the fight fight he charges in by himself to scram a pod and hold it for like 20 seconds in the middle of the enemy fleet when we're all nanoing out. Again, against orders. He insisted on narrating his random actions that he wasn't told to do in retarded ways like instead of just saying "hey guys, I'm the new rifter pilot, I'm retarded so I'm gonna randomly jump this gate you told me to be on because I saw a bomber" he goes "friendly gateacc" which does nothing but lead to a string of questions like "?????" "why is a friendly randomly jumping through the gate I told you guys to hold on?" "who is it?" "why is it the same fucking rifter pilot I've already spoken to and explained, in very, very clear terms to stop fucking doing this?" "do you not understand what it means when everyone tells you a single bomb will not hurt your rifter?" "what part of "STOP FUCKING DOING THINGS, JUST TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THE KEYBOARD AND WAIT FOR ME TO MAKE ALL THE DECISIONS FOR YOU" did you interpret as "good job, keep doing whatever seems smart to you at the time, your decision making so far tonight has been unquestioned"?????"
I mean jeez, when you keep fucking up by doing things you've not been told to do and your FC has explicitly instructed you to be where you've been told to be and to take your hands off the keyboard until further orders why would you think it's okay to start randomly jumping gates as long as you say "friendly gateacc"? In what kind of retarded fleet would "friendly gateacc" be an acceptable report on the situation and why you felt it was necessary to disobey orders and failjump? When you're sitting right next to the FC and he can see everything you can see and he's told you he will make all the decisions for you and he's not told you to do anything and been very clear about how you need to stop trying to make your own decisions because you're mentally incapable of doing so why would you possibly feel that the words "friendly gateacc" begin to explain why you're jumping a gate to escape the same fucking harmless bomber?
At some point later that night a bomber decloaked and he turned his mwd on and died. He was our only scram rifter in the fleet. He'd been playing eve for 6 years on and off and had like 50m SP. Non Hatchery life I guess. His excuse was "I was worried I couldn't align fast enough (shield rifter, 2x nano, skirmish links) so I turned my mwd on so I could be on you". When I bollocked him for this his conclusion was that he should leave Hatchery, perhaps to find somewhere where his particular brand of decision making would be welcome. It's strange to me that someone can play eve for that many years, be worse at flying a rifter than someone who has never played eve before, finally find a group who show him how much more he could be and then leave it. You'd have to be really, really fucking retarded to spend a few hours wasting the time of a very charitable group of people as they explained to you how your decisions were really, really bad over and over and then conclude at the end of it that what you were doing in the years before was better. The years in which he'd somehow accrued a negative level of skill at the game. But there again it's just one more stupid decision at the end of a string of incredibly stupid decisions that made up the entire night for him, shouldn't be surprised.
Still, you try to be nice to people and offer to save them from their stupidity and they never thank you.

It's pretty common knowledge in EVE even if your FC is a moron you are to obey that moron's orders. You are always free to fuck off out of the OP, but if you are in someone's fleet and they are FC you listen. Even if it gets you incredibly horribly killed.
Edit: I mean even pubbie faction warfare bads know this.

I've FC'd faction warfare fleets, about 2 years ago. They know it, but getting them to do it at the time was like herding kittens. The number of fail jumps, missed points, lost opportunities... ugh.

The reason why the contract system existed in the first place was because of the dangers of market manipulation. So obviously it's time to start manipulating the faction market.

Yes i was skermish... but so were they. the cynabal had long point on me. So i could not warp out, rapier over heated his mwd initally to catch me... and becuase he uncloaked in web range (52 K) it was over before i knew it. After he had web it was a long drawn out burn fest, with me OH on everything trying to get the rapierl off me. But sadly i could not get it out in time. If i was booster fit- ya I could have lived NP. But sadly.... i broke before the rapier did.

My issue is this: active tanks are, largely, for solo work. So...they want to make Minmatar and Gallente into solo boats, and suboptimal fleet ships. This is sad.
