Before reading anything, watch this video:

Yes, toribash is fucking awesome. It's also free.

Toribash is a fighting game, but instead of having set moves (like ok press this button to punch), you make your own. you control all the joints of your character. It is turn based, you take like 20 seconds to decide what you want your joints to do, then the game progresses and is paused again, after a set number of frames that can be changed by the game creator. The video makes it look easy... but it is very difficult at first. It has a huge learning curve.

It has many modes, some you can just rip your opponent apart, some you have to push them out of the square or disqualify them by having a body part other than their feet + hands hit the ground. Then, of course, there are the crazy retarded modes (like you have a sword that fucking gibs whatever it touches.) There's a whole ranking system, along with a belt system that increases as you win more games. As you win more games you get these things called toricredits, and you can use them to enter tournaments, buy new things for your character (all the things you buy are cosmetic, they don't effect gameplay) and a few other things.

You can also save replays in toribash, which is always fun because this game has a lot of WTF????????????/ I NEED TO SHOW THIS TO EVERYONE I KNOW kind of moments.

Download here

The game is kind of strange at first, it takes getting used to. I recommend playing in single player before you go online. When you do go online, go into one of the beginner games listed in yellow. Don't go into any of the non-official servers at first, I went in one yesterday and there was a 10th degree blackbelt T_T.

A few tips:
Z is extend/contract
X is relax/hold
C is hold/relax all. When first starting out, do this at the beginning of every game.
B shows the ghosts, previewing what is to come in the fight. Remember it's what will happen if you opponent stays in the same position as they are now, it doesn't show what they are doing during their turn.
Hitting their head gives you a shitload of points.
If you're going to get hit, relax whatever part of your body that will get hit if you can. Holding/extending/contracting makes your joints easier to break/fracture.
If you click on your hands, they will turn into more rectangular shapes, and they will stick onto the next thing they touch, including yourself. To ungrab just click on them again.

I'm Nitrogen23 on toribash, if you want to play just tell me in here :p
have fun bashing

This looks like it has the potential to be really awesome. I don't think I have ever even considered a turn based fighting game. I wish it was Friday night right now :p

and here's my replay pack. it doesn't have that many games, and most of them are on multiplayer. i've been playing a lot of akido, which is where you try to knock the other person out of the ring and points don't really matter that much. it's also incredibly hard to dismember something in that mode.

http://rapidshare.com/files/182641239/Nitrogen_toribash.rar.html

some of these replays aren't me playing.
to get them to work just put them in your replays folder in your toribash folder, and go to setup -> replays in toribash and you will have a list of all the replays. when you download the game there are already like 304928343 replays in there, so just move/delete them if you want to browse your replays easily. also, when you're watching replays, press r to restart, and if you press e you can go into a mode where you can control the character again, and play out the match from that point. this is useful for seeing people's moves.

I just started playing it and Nitrogen is totally right. It takes a bit of getting used to. I'm starting out with basic punches and kicks for now, just to get a feel for it. But it's definitely very unique and very awesome. Nice find!

This is really addicting, here's a couple of my attempts in free play:

I really need to figure out how to get my stupid onboard sound to work with camtasia T_T

Edit: I seem to be getting the hang of the movement a little better though half the stuff is still flailing around trying to connect with the opponent.

Edit: One more before I go to bed; I'm actually managing to land some decent punches & kicks now that I'm getting a hang of this. Still some flailing about though hehe

this one is vs nintu from tl. he doesn't really know how to play :p
we were playing taekwondo, which means far starting distance and low dismemberment threshold.

this one wa sjust in singleplayer.

edit: oh yeah that's my music playing the background. i didn't think it would record it.
