Anyway, now that there are more players hitting 50, I am hoping they start seperating 50's from the rest soon. I reallly had a good time in the beginning with PvP but now, someone with full champion gear will easily kill half a team of lower levels single handedly.
Does anyone know of any dps-class theory crafting? I have been putting together some sort of simulation for Operatives and hopefully I want to start on Mercenaries soon.
They are. In the blog update on the swtor.com website they said that level 50's will have their own PvP bracket. Unless i am mistaken that should be this month
http://www.swtor.com/blog/new-year’s-pvp-update
Thats the link.
Here is the snippet for the 50's.
Level 50 Bracket Warzones: Level 50 players will have a bracket of their own, playing in separate Warzone matches to lower level players. This is something we have wanted to do for some time and now that there is an increasing number of level 50 players we will be implementing the feature in January.

Sweet thank you Blade! That is good news, it was a lot of fun to throw in a PvP game to break up the questing. Plus, having a nice gear upgrade at lvl 20 and 40 that was easily obtainable is very nice.
This game is still very captivating though. I have run into very few bugs, mostly in hard modes (haven't tried raiding yet) but nothing stopped me for too long.
Could anyone give me a rundown on how Assassins play? Can't decide between them or Juggernaught for my 3rd class.

Streaming some pvp as a 50 healing sorc. Under non-featured here. Willing to answer any questions you might have too.
Done a bit of raiding and pvp thus far.

Servers down again? Wtf am i paying for

All MMO's get a lot of downtime in the beginning.

They are releasing another patch with some high priority bug fixes. I do agree I can't wait till server's going down for maintenance/patching slows down a little

They are patching a MAJOR economy exploit. It had to do with being able to basically... make infinite credits.

Thank god manifesto7 stopped that, i was going to make a huge ass post about it -_-. But lol at the apple seed ^_^
Servers going down is but it has to be done i suppose
Just watch AGDQ!

I just personally think the game actually isn't at the "release" point yet. They're are a lot of things they need to implement (read the thread) and I have found many scenes where my companion isn't in view, and my helmet is off.
I hate how you can't just disable abilities on your companion until you enable them, because if they ever despawn from even you mounting up you have to re-disable them all. If you're running a flashpoint, every time you go up an elevator or whatever you have to re-summon them. Pretty annoying when as a powertech I rely soooo much on Mako, that when she enables her electro-stun that is channeled for like 8 seconds, I have to manually tell her to heal me because she won't until the cast time is over.
You can't fucking unbind the \ key either (below backspace). I can't FUCKING TELL YOU HOW HARD I RAGE LOL. \ brings up the bug ticket form and you have to hit 2 windows to make it go away. It's fucking annoying as shit.
Game also isn't optimized for shit, I get shit fps with a gtx470 on low settings (10 in imperial fleet). PvP is all about having 1 second delays on everything I'm doing for whatever reason, even if I have 30ms.

Nobody is denying there are plenty of bugs in the game, but its still a damn good one.
There are also plenty of things left to be implemented: Your ability delay is said to be patched this month. (I actually dont suffer too much from it, i usually just get lag >.<)
The little niggles that were neglected (things like Mako having to be told to re-do everything, bug ticket (FUCK THAT THING.) not being able to be unbinded.) has happened in every game and will probably continue to till the end of time..argue all you like about the other shit.
Game optimisation is a problem i'd agree, but 10 fps on low with a 570? I get 20~ on a 560ti with 150+ people on fleet. Thats some weird shit, but again, there are many problems with the game.
What people dont realise about the giant fucking flame war of the last five pages (or 150 if your fruscanites victims.) is that EVERYONE accepts the game has bugs, big ones small ones funny ones annoying ones, ones that fuck things up royally, ones that will be abused. We all know, we dont need to be shouted at and told about them time after time when we just want to talk about the game.
We accept those things and still love it as a game, hence why we're here talking about it. Posting your opinion of something is coolbeans, the last few pages is an example of whats not O.O
I will say the release was smooth for me, i went into it expecting bugs, downtime and the rest as its happened with every online game ive played, or there abouts on some level. If people arent willing to accept that, then meh..they need to chill if you ask me.
Can i just remind you that SC1, BW and SC2 all sucked balls when they came out some argue SC2 still does :D. 5 rax reaper and 1 supply roaches anyone? :3 Or IMBA as fuck guns in any FPS released..the list goes on about "gamebreaking" flaws and bugs in games, obviously ones relevant to their own genre.
I want the servers to come back upppppppp.

Yeah I mean the story is def worth $60, best game storyline I've ever played period. I normally never get into the RP shit but this game has me in it 100%. Love my BH. Want to make every class it's so damn good.
Annoying also how the Legacy stuff isn't out yet.
|
I'm kinda dissapointed with the Trooper storyline so far. (lvl 46)+ Show Spoiler +the defection of Havoc squad wasn't really a big deal, because I was not invested in the characters. So the whole first act was kinda meh. The second act was alright I guess, since I got my dark side companion with Tanno Vik(bad ass). Maybe it gets better now after I shot a senator in the face during a hearing :p

I feel your pain on the god damn bug report button hah, so annoying. I havent had issues with companions not remembering abilities besides kira not turning her buff on sometimes. Pvp rubber bands way to much, as a sentinel its annoying, along with if i force leap i have to step forward a few steps to be in melee range because the graphic freezes the player on my screen where i leap but it doesnt register as a stun server side until i land?(or something, its kind of weird).
Some classes feel like they have only a couple of abilities while others have like 20 they have to use. Jedi knight is supposed to be really bad for this I read. Between the *auto attack, zealous strike, leap, snare, heal reduction throw, finishing throw, slash, mercliss slash cauterize, sabre attack buff, force camo, guarded by force, trinket master strike force stasis, my aoe mini stun(forget name) regular aoe, passivity, transcendce(for huttball speed buff is nice) or the other 15sec 15% dmg buff, valorous call. I feel like im even missing something here, but half the time when im pvping im looking at my hotbar for cooldowns and abilities and not at the screen. If its a bossfight or instance i dont even look up half the time. My 2 bottom bars are full of things i use, along with half of my left hand bar.
My fps fluctuates from 80 to 15 depending on where I am at and I dont understand why, Alderaan as a world looks amazing but my framerate on it is trash, some indoor zones also (corellia inside some buildings) it will just plummet for no reason. I feel like one of the pvp zones has a memory leak because sometimes it runs great and after a while it just turns really bad.
Ilum design is horrid, people trade points for the valor buff to do warzones or their dailys, while bioware says this is bad and all that jazz, and tells me i should go around killing people, well im republic on a server with significantly more empire than republic. At late night ill go to ilum it will be all empire control, ill flip a point to get my buff, and like a damn signal flare going off 20-30 sith will show up trying to get their buff as well. When this happens ill be the only republic player in Ilum, and one of 20 online usually. You cant expect me to just force leap into 30 lvl 50s, its just stupid so I play their silly game and flip the point when my warzones end.
I helped out doing a world pvp boss on Quesh earlier today, we had a full operation of 39-50 players, we got there and there was 3 lvl 50 sith seeing us organize or what not, no big deal they attacked we killed them and engaged the boss... 2minutes later at 60~% they attack again, with about 8 lvl 50s, no big deal we kill them no wipes, we were way overleveled for the boss with a lvl 50 tank so it went fine. At around 20% ive never seen so many lvl 50s gather so fast, must have been at least 25, rolled right over us, but didnt reset the boss so we got the loot anyways. Not a huge deal, world pvp is gonna happen, but if these massive population imbalances are going to exist they need to offer an incentive to play republic. Ive seen games offer lik 30% bonus exp while overpopulated side gets 30% negative, or dmg buffs whatever.
Crafting system is terrible as well, i went thro the effort of proccing lvl 50 items to check out their stats, within about 2minutes of turning lvl 50 I was able to find better items elsewhere though. Slicing even nerfed is still a million times better than any other gathering ability, because of the mission discoveries. There are so few people doing regular crafting skills right now that the price of things like underworld metals is through the roof(probably right up until people realise that crafted items are terrible and stop making things entirely) besides ship upgrades and consumables.
All of these things are fixable, and they seem to be on the right track, lvl 50 bracket in pvp is a good step forward, although i think it will trash republic win rates, more because everyone is a jedi knight( cant complain I am too) and everyone on sith is an inquis operative or mercenary (3 best pvp classes). People already complain about gear being to important in pvp and i agree entirely. I have... 5 pieces of pvp equip i think.. mainhand sabre chest gloves implants, and a new lvl 50 ill kill in seconds without any issue, will barely even take dmg. Against higher geared players than me I can barely put a dent in their lifepools before i get tracer missle spammed to death.
Havent done any operations or heroic FPs or even the lvl 50 Fps yet, i hear they are buggy, waiting on more 50s in our guild on twin spears before we can attempt that stuff.
Space combat seems useless at 50 as well, rewards are .. weird 375 tokens for a lvl 50 arti box that drops the same thing i get from a regular lvl 50 mission on belsavis is .. weird. Oh, last problem, no customizable gear at 50, im stuck with the ugly pvp gear no reskinning or oranges etc.
I enjoy the game, I will keep playing regardless of these problems. Most of this stuff isnt hard to fix, crafting can be solved by having better schematics drop in raids, space combat just revamp the vendor. Pvp well they have a big plan for this month lets hope it works, along with Ilum changes that I think will bomb just because of population imbalance, having to kill players to get rewards means that it will just be a ghost town because of the population differences, republic just wont go there at all.
Skill bloat on Jedi Knight, well thats revamping a whole class, so im not sure what to do there, I use all of my abilities and they all have a purpose, but it kind of feels like other classes get abilities with multiple things in them, while ours are very linear. No knockback or push ability is annoying as well, as most other classes have it, seeing as we have no stun it would be nice to have.

Hey, level 50 Jedi Guardian here.
Not sure if that's what you are but, at 50 things change a lot for our class. They scale with gear BIG time. As far as knock/back stun we have a few. Force Push = Knock back AND a stun. Force Stasis = 3.0 second stun with a channel time (can be talented to not be interrupted)
In PVP I find myself being tied to GCD's, missing just one would be pretty impossible.
Open with a saber throw -- > leap -- >sunder(otherskill if needed) You can combine Force Exhaustion(31st talent in Focus) with Force Stasis, follow with Zealous Leap and a 100% crit on Force Sweep for LOTS of damage. I've bursted full HP bars of other 50's like this.
There is a ton of skill cap for the Guardian.
After reading your post again I see you're a Sentinel. Also a class that scales greatly at 50 with gear.

As a powertech, I have to use SO MANY FUCKING abilities in order to kill mobs and PvP it's ridiculous. I enjoy being a BH, but in a WZ when a Jedi Consular just casts that one channel ability OVER AND OVER...and BEATS ME. When he's 1 level lower than I am...it's fucking ridiculus. It was a total 1-1 and he beat me with 10% left and literally all he did was use Telekenetic Whatever and that instant cast spell.
What I have to do as a Powertech?
Let's see my abilities by heart...
3 (channel, 15 sec cd), 5 (15 sec cd, explosive dart), 6 (Rail Shot, Long CD 15sec?), 8 (interrupt, 10sec ish CD), shift-2 (Melee range only, 8-10sec cd), V (no CD, melee range only though, fire attack whatever), X (my stun, min cd), shift-4 (charge ability)
He literally just did 2 things over and over and over again. I had to run around and do all this crazy shit. Felt like I was playing SC2 with that micro.
Also, Powertech has no knockbacks that work on players so far (lv 36). It's stupid as fuck in Huttball etc when I get knocked back by everyone else, but I can't knock anyone back.

Does anyone know how to find the patch notes for the Public Test Server? I've been told there are Juggernaut buffs on there and I'd like to know the details but can't find them anywhere!
Also, on a less related note here's a video of me messing around in Hutball with my 50 Juggernaut. Nothing special just something someone might watch if they're bored and looking to kill some time: + Show Spoiler +

i liked the story telling, but i totally didnt get that special mmo vibe at all. gonna do some raids next week and decide if i want to pay them for it.
Its not a bad game at all, but it doesnt feel like an mmo to me yet the way Aion or EVE online did where i had constant contact to players in good and bad ways.

I'm actually curious of your specs because that video actually looks decent. No warping, rubberbands in like the first couple minutes of the game.
IMHO, the game is a success in terms of the progression from 1-50. Of course there are hurdles that are met along the way which has been pointed over and over and have been repeatedly been beaten with a large handle. The games progression from 1-50 is a very polished and well thought out storyline which can really cater to those who fancy a game with a deep RP aspect. My class (Operative) has a distinct yet 007/Mission Impossible feel and a touch of Ninja/assassin type storyline which is pretty intriguing and original.
My thoughts on PvP are mixed, I've got to Valor 17, had a few confrontations on World-PvP and I know it only gets better/worse when you're on Illum. My PvP experience thus far has been severely hindered by the poor optimization and memory leak issue that plagues this game. If BioWare can fix one thing in one day, I would have to say that what they really need to put on top of that list is to fix the optimization/memleak issue. Fixing that itself would make the ability delay somewhat tolerable because people can actually play the game at like <25fps.
The launch is a success for BioWare/EA no doubt, they already made back what they had for producing the game. Overall, no game in general has a smooth start. I'm sticking to the game until February, hopefully they address the issues the masses are calling them out on. Furthermore, just to add, game developers in general should not be hiding behind the excuse that their game is "fine" and bugs are a natural occurence because it is "new". QAT's if they've done their job correctly can spot these things before the game even goes to closed beta, the fact that a company such as EA, and others mentioned are not catching these things and waiting for the shit to begin on release is somewhat a cause for concern. Some consumers are critical thinkers, we would actually like a game that has a few bugs that are tolerable not inherently game breaking/annoying; there is a reason why people try so hard to get into closed beta's and that sole reason is to see if that particular developer has actually learned anything from previous launches.
All in all, people should ask these critical questions when buying a game, research it fully and make a wise decision on your purchase, don't buy it expecting everything you've ever wanted is covered then whine about it later when it wasn't fixed early on. I was unfortunate to get into the closed beta for SWTOR; however, I know full well and have lowered my expectations on every game release after AoC. I can only hope and give praise if EA/BW can get themselves out of this without a scratch, I would love to play this game again 6 months down the road.
|
And all those retards who actually get in to closed betas are the reason the game is released buggy.
LOL WUT DIS IS ALL BUGGED UP I IZ RAGE QUITTIN DIS BETA!!
- 70% of all beta players.
Basically, beta players only want to be in a beta to play early, they dont look for, or point out any bugs they come across.
