Note: I'm a gamer, not an RPer or Star Wars fanatic. I think if you want to play because you are either of those, then you won't care so much about the following.
I think this game could be fun, but... - Ability delay/responsiveness is a game breaker for me, I find it very frustrating to play. - Insane amount of bugs and evade bugged mobs everywhere. - The game feels very unfinished...perhaps late alpha/early beta testing stage still. - There is alot of running/speedering/travel in general in this game which makes me bored (although the Quick Travel system does compensate for this somewhat, it is not enough).
Some of the things I like... - AoE looting/take all button when looting mobs. - Companion system is novel both in terms of crafting and combat (i.e. sending your companion out on missions to get your crafting items for you, sell vendor trash etc). - Because of the companion, mobs are in groups often containing a mix of strong/normal mobs which makes you have to think a little about which mobs you might want to CC, what skills you want to use etc. It's not just using essentially the same rotation on a single mob like most other MMORPGs.
General comments... - The game has great graphics, sound and voice acting, but we're playing an MMORPG game here, not a movie or an XBOX game. Gameplay should come first. Always. - The sci-fi/space setting is a refreshing break from the fantasy setting that almost all MMORPGs take place in.

No, it's luck. About 10-15% chance is what it feels like in general. There is a reverse engineering FAQ on the Bioware SWTOR Crew Skill forums if you want to get more info.
Some items may not have a blue stage, not sure about Artifice or what you were revergineering.

Oh.. confirmed as being buggy or not having a blue reciepe from reworking. Damn it.

You guys should give more time.. The game has been out like 2 weeks?
|
The only TRUE problem this game has atm is the animation delay / responsivness...
I still have a blast while playing and can't understand all the critics... Many Bugs? I never had a "big" one... Some evading Mobs but well all else this is a perfectly finished product for me.
If you liked Kotor for it's story and all that, you just have to love this.
If you wanted a super competetive MMO.. WELL... Thats your fault. Buying a "new" MMO and expecting something no MMO will ever grant you at Day 1 is just stupid (or 10 or how long it took you to get lvl 50 O_o)?

Kinda scary that they didn't mention that they would make it so that groups didn't have to be remade after every single warzone, so fucked up if that isn't fixed soon.

God i am bored. So bored, i opened excel and and started to calculate the damage potentials of sage builds using the Skill-damagenumbers posted already in the thread.
Sadly, i donÄt have all numbers, but here is some theorycrafting:
I use a rotation starting with (Mind Blast -> Weaken Mind -> Throw -> Throw -> Force in Balance -> Throw -> Throw)repeat.
Why? Your Dots are most efficient Damage/sec wise, so, you want them to be up as often as possible. Therefore, Mind Blast determines the duration of the rotation. When weakend mind afterwards means both end at the same time giving you a good hint when to cast everything else again. Throw is simply put the spammable spell with the highest damage, Force in Balance itself is doing great damage however is mana inefficient against one enemy. It shines through it's 20% buff to periodic damage. To get the most damage from it, it needs to be timed so that the big ticks of Throw are buffed. As our rotation is 15sec cd + activation time of Mindblast, the cd on force in balance will be ready again at the same time in the rotation. I do noit see the use for any other spell in here, disturbance damage is just plain too low, sever force is probably good but i don't know the damage of that spell. 15 sec + activation of Mind blast means, weaken mind won't be up for 1,5 sec, so you can put 1 point into the talent that enhances the duration of weaken mind that one "free" tick more should be enough tobalance the loss of not casting Mind Blast for 1 Global Cooldownin the rotation.
If anyone can provide me with the tooltip damage of sever force without any bonuses (or at least no equip) i'm checking how it fits exactly. Anyway, the point in presence of mind is well spent, the small damage buff on the DD component of Mind Blast as well as the reduction of cast time from 2s to 1.5 grants about 4% more damage overall, just don't waste it on Disturbance. Disturbance does less damage then any other spell in our arsenal, even with all talents for it. It's not worth it. If you have to put any instant skill into your rotation, and you cannot cast a full Throw before having to start over with the rotation, either cancel the throw midways as soon as Mind Blast is ready, or, if you got enough force to throw around, use Project. The build i was using is:
http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600uZf0zZcrfRsMkrcz.1
As this is extremely boring for anyone except me, i will stop writing now :D

Sure, some of my points are subjective, but I'd like to make it clearer that the ability delay/responsiveness issue is really the most critical thing that Bioware/EA need to fix above all else...I'd really like this game to be good and be able to survive, but if they do not address this issue I think this game is over before it really started.

Its in the patch notes that it will be addressed. Theres going to be a major update by the end of January.
Combat Gameplay: You’ll see several optimizations come online in January, and we are going to continue to tune this as time goes on.

The only major bug ive had is when Revan used his force bubble and then refused to die i spent like 10 minutes tanking him with my group not having a clue what to do lol. But we found a solution to stop it happening and started the fight again.
I have to say the stories are amazing and the "special" Flashpoints with cutscenes and conversations like Black Talon and Foundry are amazing for those who have patience to cope with bugs and wait for updates i think you will be totally addicted .

Pretty sure the ability delay has something to do with the fact that they allow you to queue up a new ability before your current one finishes. I've messed around with adjusting the setting that dictates how long before your first ability finishes that allows you to queue your next one and that's seemed to help a bit, but I haven't put it down to 0 so I'm not sure. Right now I've got it set to .25 and it doesn't feel as clunky as it did on .5
*As far as raiding goes, if there are glaring "bugs" that don't allow for certain bosses to be killed, it's intentional. WoW did the same thing when it was released, AoC did it to the point of killing their end-game (and a major reason why I think it failed). Devs know that guild will inevitably beat their heads against the wall when a game is fresh to get through the content. Since the game is so now, I wouldn't be surprised if the "bugs" during boss fights were intentional so that these bosses can't be defeated right now.

Yes I've seen the acknowledgement from Bioware, and I very much hope that they address the issue. Unfortunately there isn't any actually implemented into the game yet, so I'm commenting on what I can play.

Yeah I tried playing around with that setting, and 0.0 certainly felt better than 0.5, but I still find it requires alot of patience to play unfortunately

The encounter bugs are part of it, I believe that the German WoW guild Irae AoD already killed all content on Nightmare a week or so ago, so I don't think they are unkillable. One of those type of bugs (or extreme difficulty) I remember from WoW was C'Thun stage 2 as it was released, that was a fun brick wall.
